When the head of the Araneidae clan is found poisoned in her nest, her eldest daughter, Lourdes, becomes their clan’s new maven. If her clan is to survive, she has but one choice: she must marry before her nest is seized. All she needs is a warrior fierce enough to protect her city and safeguard her clansmen. Such a male is Rhys the Cold.

The only things Rhys has to his name are his sword and his mercenary reputation. His clan is starving, but they are unwelcome dinner guests. Torn between loyalty to his clan and fascination with his future bride, Rhys’s first taste of Lourdes threatens to melt the cold encasing his heart.

Amid the chaos of battle, Lourdes’s sister disappears and is feared captured. Lourdes and Rhys pursue their enemies into the southlands, where they discover an odd plague ravaging southern clans as it travels north.

Araneae Nation, Book 2
Born with the ability to communicate with the dead, few things take Mana by surprise, but when an animal announces himself as Vaughn’s long-dead father, she’s shocked. To make matters worse, he has a dire warning.

Now Mana must face Vaughn, the male who inspired one too many girlish fantasies, and impart a spirit’s message—without acknowledging her source—so the soul can be laid to rest.

The last thing Vaughn needs is for an innocent to get caught in the crosshairs of combat, but the woman he remembers as an awkward girl refuses to leave his side until he’s heard her out. That’s not the only change in her that calls to him. Her kindness soothes his battle-scarred soul—and he craves her in ways a warrior shouldn’t.

When they are both captured, they learn of an even greater threat. The plague devastating the southlands has come to his clan home. And his best—and only—chance to keep his people alive is the female who walks among the dead.

Reviewers wanted!

I am looking for reviewers that can read mainly paranormal romance and erotic paranormal romance. We do get a few other sub-genres in, but not a whole lot. This is an adult romance blog and I like to stick to that category, so no young adult.

Please, don’t contact me unless your serious about doing this. I have had several want to do it and take a book and never heard from them again. That’s not fair to me, I have to answer to the author or publisher. Most people thinks this is just something fun but it’s not it’s work and authors are counting on us to be honest and on time, as I am as the blog owner. I need people who wants to do this all the time and be serious about it.

I do have to limit this to US and Canada residents only, reason I can't afford to mail books international.

There is a few requirements: I'll need to talk to you over the phone and be prepared it will take a bit to go over some things.I cannot take anyone that already reviews or owns a book blog. I will need reviews done and posted on the blog by 14 days.

Guest paranormal romance author Mandy Harbin

Please welcome Mandy Harbin

First, I want to thank Laurie for letting me invade her blog today. She was the first blogger who contacted me and said she just had to interview me after reading the first book in my Woods Family Series, SURROUNDED BY WOODS.  So ending my tour on the last book in the series at her site is bittersweet, but totally fitting.

It’s been almost two years since the first book was released, which is really hard for me to believe. It was the first book I’d ever published, and I’ve learned a lot since then. I’ve also accomplished so much during the past two years as well. I just signed a contract on the 14th book that I’ll be publishing and have achieved PAN status with the Romance Writers Association. I’m not making Maya Banks’ kind of money, but I’m at a place in my life where writing isn’t just a hobby any more. And I love that!

I often get asked why I write paranormal romance, and the answer is simple. Because it’s awesome! There’s nothing like reading a book and not knowing just what the hero can do, or the heroine… hell, even the villain for that matter. When reading contemporary romances, the characters have limitations imposed on them, so that element of surprise is missing. Don’t get me wrong, I love reading all kinds of romance, but there’s just something about paranormal romance that satisfies everything this reader needs in a well-crafted story.

Unfortunately, some people in the romance industry might disagree with me on that. I went to a conference a few weeks ago and couple of the editors there—from major romance publishers—said they’d felt paranormal was on its way out and contemporary was the hot new thing. *sigh* Just because women snatched up copies of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy in record numbers doesn’t mean that that’s all we want to read (BTW, I haven’t read that trilogy… I might be the only women left who hasn’t). The way I see it, fads come and go. Sure, contemporary might be hot right now, but that doesn’t mean we need to neglect our shape-shifting, vampire, angel, witch, and demon characters we love, too. My iPad can store a bunch of books and doesn’t care which genre they’re in.

So let’s keep our love for the paranormal genre alive. When Fifty Shades fades into the darkness, they’ll be a hot demon lover lurking to take its place.

In the meantime, if you haven’t tried my paranormal series, you can get book one, SURROUNDED BY WOODS, for free right now on Amazon and B&N! If you have any doubt about downloading it, just go read Laurie’s review on it. ;-)

You can also enter to win a $100 gift card to Amazon or B&N by entering here:

Thanks again for letting me ramble on today. Oh, and just because SURROUNDED BY SECRETS is the last Woods Family book, doesn’t mean it’ll be last you hear from this world. *wink, wink*

Cat got your tongue?
Tessa Williams is looking to make her mark outside the family business, and the unusual landlocked paddle wheeler she spots in Haines, Alaska, strikes her as the perfect location. Only the owner is being difficult, refusing to sell. Still, she’s sure that replacing her written queries with a little in-person charm is all she’ll need to shortly have her Eco-tour B&B on the road to success.
Local wolf-slash-owner of said vessel, Mark Weaver, isn’t hanging on to the landmark building out of spite. There are more reasons for holding back the sale than are easily explained on paper. A face-to-face meeting to resolve the matter only confounds it—when Mark recognizes Tessa as his mate.
But she’s a cat…and cats don’t do insta-mates.
The sexual attraction between them isn’t in question, just everything else. He wants her. She wants twue wuv. His wolf can’t figure out what the holdup is. Her cat thinks the entire situation, and the pack, are rather amusing.
Somewhere in here is the beginning of a beautiful relationship—if they don’t drive each other mad.
Warning: One hyper cat, one laid-back wolf. Inappropriate use of permanent markers, and a heaping side dish of cat/dog jokes. Shenanigans (read: nookie) in front of a roaring fire. Spiced liberally with sarcasm. Enjoy!

Holden Clark walks into Rebecca Powell's live, a tall blue-eyed stranger who stirs long forgotten desires.  But nothing, including this man, is what it seems.  A dark necromancer is targeting Becca for a full-blown demonic possessions.  She is thrust into a world she never knew existed - a world where dark casters create chaos and necromancers talk to the dead.

Holden has no faith in his power.  A necromancer, he communicates with the dead, but he has never embraced his gifts.  Now, he has no choice but to stop the dark caster attacking Rebecca, but accepting this mission means he'll be delving into dangerous magics he's never used before.

Under the protection of the damaged and mysterious Holden, Rebecca will question everything...

I loved Abner's take on necromancer's.  It was refreshing to see them portrayed as real people that have a choice to use their powers for good or evil, instead of just automatically being nasty people because of their powers.  Holden is a genuinely good guy with lots of baggage.  Baggage that he is forced to confront head on if he wants to save Becca from demonic possession.  She's got a particularly nasty demon that is being summoned to take control of her.  Becca and Holden need to find a way to stop it and kill the necromancer controlling it before it's too late.

Even though I had guessed the bad guy's identity part way through, the story was written in a way that I kept second guessing myself all along the way.  With lots of action and a deep love between our two characters, it was a fantastic story that kept me very entertained until the very end.

Summary:

Red is definitely my color. Good thing, because in my line of work, I end up wearing it a lot.

Most people shy away from blood, but for an assassin like me — Gin Blanco, aka the Spider — it’s just part of the job. Still, it would be nice to get a night off, especially when I’m attending the biggest gala event of the summer at Briartop, Ashland’s fanciest art museum. But it’s just not meant to be. For this exhibition of my late nemesis’ priceless possessions is not only the place to be seen, but the place to be robbed and taken hostage at gunpoint as well. No sooner did I get my champagne than a bunch of the unluckiest thieves ever burst into the museum and started looting the place.

Unlucky why? Because I brought along a couple of knives in addition to my killer dress. Add these to my Ice and Stone magic, and nothing makes me happier than showing the bad guys why red really is my color

Against her better judgment, Gin is coerced into attending a high society gala with the rest of Ashland's elite underworld. On display: the priceless art collection of her deceased nemesis, Mab Monroe, and an excess of crime boss swagger. While not comfortable in her fancy attire, Gin gets vastly more interested in the evening’s events when a group of thieves bursts in and tries to seize the valuable, dangerous gems. Facing a Die Hard-esque scenario in which she must free hostage party-goers while herself trapped in the museum, things get a little bit messy when the bloodshed begins. Let's just say that Gin should have chosen the red gown…
