Interview Author Anna Keraleigh

Please welcome romance author Anna Keraleigh

For those readers who aren’t familiar with your work would you share a bit about yourself?

Hi there, thanks for having me.

I have two erotic fantasy novels published with Evernight Publishing. Why fairies you ask? I love everything about Ireland including its unique folklore. I also fell in love with the erotica genre the moment I read my first naughty novel. I invite you into my fantasy world where muscle men with delicate wings fight for their kingdom (in loincloths).

What is your writing schedule like?  Do you have a special place where you write filled with stardust and moonbeams?  And what about a playlist?  I can only imagine the tunes needed to generate fairies!

I often write on the deck when weather permits. There’s something magical about the fresh air, the sky overheard and the sound of wildlife. I actually came up with my idea for the giant sunflowers because of my garden. I have an area in my yard where I plant a variety of flowers. When I first planted sunflowers they grew huge! I’m talking over 6 feet tall which is inches taller than me. Staring at those beautiful, awkward flowers started the writing juice flowing.

As for tunes, I have different mixes for different scenes. Sad scenes are usually accompanied by new age/classical music especially Celtic or Irish music. For action scenes, I listen to my Rock mix. That would be Rob Zombie, Nickleback, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Zebrahead and anything that has a good beat. Then there are the sex scenes. Yes, I have a mix for that too! For your entertainment by Adam Lambert, Dirt by Depeche Mode, Lick by Joi, and several others with a sensual vibe.

Other than writing, what else do you love to do?

I love traveling. My brain goes on imagination overload when I’m riding in a car staring at the world as it passes. I’m an animal lover and often times I read with my cat on the deck. Or researching new Irish folklore, it’s become a hobby of mine.

Anna, please tell us about your latest book in your Fairy Series, THE RAVAGED FAIRY released May 25, 2011, by Evernight Publishing.

The Ravaged Fairy is all about Thame, the golden warrior fairy. He’s captured and his wings cut off at the end of the first book. This is his story. He’s stranded without wings on The Aran Islands off the coast of Ireland. Breena finds him and saves him from certain death. She treats his back but can she heal his ravaged heart?

Find out in The Ravaged Fairy.

Can you give us a glimpse of what you are working on next?

I just finished and was accepted into a story for an anthology at Evernight Publishing. ‘Midnight Seductions’ will be released around October of 2011.

I also started Keyn’s story, Fairy Unbroken. This will be book 3 in The Fairy Series and yes, each of them can be read as stand-alone. He’s a human hater, tortured by them when he was a child. What happens when the human hater meets his human mate? So far, it looks to be quite a wild adventure.

Stay Naughty,
Anna Keraleigh

What would happen to a fairy without wings?

Thame is a warrior, a golden fairy who is loyal to the King and new Queen. They are on the verge of war with the Trolls. It’s an ongoing battle that he fought with success...until now. The enemy captures him, cuts off his wings and strands him on the remote Aran Islands. His escape is a miracle, but the night is still young.

Breena never expects to find a half-naked man with a mutilated back in the middle of her home. Now she finds herself in the middle of a war she didn’t even know existed on top of discovering she’s only part human.

Can Breena heal Thame's ravaged heart?

The blurb above explains the whole premise of the storyline; no need for me to go into details. So, do you want the good news or the bad news first? I thought so.

Ms. Keraleigh has created an exquisite fairy world filled with beautiful, alpha men with wings, who need to find their mates and procreate in order for their race to survive. Unfortunately, this time I feel she has tried too hard and has included too much information into a novella.

We were introduced to Morrigan in FAIRY FLAVOR as Queen Brook’s cousin. Here, we get two very confusing sneak peeks at her. Albeit, one of them include an encounter with the fairy Whisper. (He’s the Good News, BTW.)

Same ruse different book: The trolls engage the fairies in battle as a decoy while other trolls try to steal one of their women.

Breena is a hometown girl. Raised by her Gran, reads historical romance novels, never kissed a guy. So, it’s only natural that when she’s around Thame her shyness sets in and really starts to show. The clumsiness/unbalancing act start at page 19 and doesn’t let up. How many times does an author let her heroine fall flat on her face, or ass in this case, before it gets redundant?

Now I’m getting nit-picky but this really bothered me. Maybe it was because of the YUCK factor involved. Both Breena and Thame have been fighting trolls. Thame with his sword and knife with blood and guts being involved. Breena with salt and frying pan involved. (Intriguing huh?) Flash forward…..their climbing under the covers, fully clothed, sans shoes for the night and snoozing. Excuse me? How about a quick duck under the shower? A sentence or three of erotic foreplay?

Yes, there is sexual intercourse in this book, along with anal penetration, but it didn’t have the sensual or romantic focus as FAIRY FLAVOR did. That is the reason for the Steamy Rating. Breena is a sheltered country girl – she hasn’t even kissed a boy and she is 22 years old. She blushes at just a lewd thought: As her Gran reminds her to stop “wandering”.

She glanced back up and her cheeks burned. “I…” she pulled her hands from his grasp. “It’s just…” Breena stood and her knees nearly gave out. “We…” Her words were pathetic stutters. “Thanks,” she blurted and instantly wanted to hide in a corner. Did she really just thank him for a kiss?

Finally, Thame and Breena were going to consummate their love atop of a gigantic sunflower under the stars. How romantic! Genuinely disgusted was how I felt after reading this scene. But the penetration turned out to be anal with little to no prep. Give me a break! Here we have a virgin with no experience. And Thame, of course, was described as being well endowed. Nope, no way, no how.

Well now, after all of this negativity, how, may you ask, can I still rate this a 3 One Good Howl? It’s because I really like these alpha Fairy Men and their idiosyncrasies. I am intrigued by Wick and his green hair. He is so lustful. Will he find his match? And the shadow of a blueman Whisper with his gigantic black wings (and the two pointed teeth we barely glimpsed) – will his mate be Morrigan? What’s up with Keyn anyway? Is he bipolar? Is there such a thing as a bipolar fairy? And how come the fairies that have already mated don’t have offspring?

Most off all it is because I have hope. I have faith that Ms. Keraleigh will mature as an author and in turn, so will her fairy series. Damn, I want to read about Whisper!

Interview with romance author ANNA KERALEIGH

Hello Anna and welcome to Bitten By Paranormal Romance! I sure enjoyed reading about those "muscled models" wearing loincloths in FAIRY FLAVOR. I'm looking forward to your next FAIRY installment!

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’ve always been a reader and an animal lover. Fairy Flavor was my first attempt at a novel and I’m so in love with writing it’s like the ultimate orgasm. Romance to me is filled with so much hope and never ending promises. Combine that with the limitless possibilities of fantasy and I’m in heaven.

What inspired you to write?
My nose was always in a book as a kid and then I seen the movie Romancing the Stone. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to be a writer. It was always something I wanted to do and when I lost my job last year I decided to give it a try. So far, the feedback has been fantastic and a dream come true.

Do you have a favorite among your heroes and heroines?
Each character has their own features that make me fall in love and care about their future. Brook was very much like myself and Carrick seemed so genuinely sweet, it was so wonderful to write their story. I just finished writing Thame’s story, The Ravaged Fairy. I was a little unsure at the beginning how all would work out. He’s so solitary and didn’t have a personality that really came across as ‘mate friendly’. All that changed as he meets a shy clumsy Irish lass. He bloomed, peeked, opened up, whatever you want to call it. Thame became a man with a heart. That has endeared him to me forever.

I am very excited about writing Whisper’s story. He’s something special to me, a secret crush. Is it sad I have a crush on a figment of my own imagination? I guess that’s one of the perks of being an author. *Grins*

I also can’t wait to write Morrigan, Brook’s cousin into the series. She’s grabbing my heart and not letting go. Her personality is a tough girl that will not take crap from anybody. I can’t help but wonder what she’ll do when faced with a sexy fairy intent on seducing her.

Who are your favorite authors? Favorite books?
There are just so many wonderful authors out there. Shayla Black, Lora Leigh, Nalini Singh, all the talented ladies at Evernight Publishing. I read just about anything in romance.

Do you write any other sub-genre? Do you have a favorite?
I love romance, I’m a hopeful romantic. I also am enamored with the fantasy genre. Where else can romance collide with fairy folklore and create Fairy Flavor? There are just so many possibilities and twists. I love it.

What are you working on next? Are there any plans for Valen “the sex God on steroids” story? He desperately needs his own HEA!
Everybody loves Valen, I had no idea he’d go over so big. He will indeed get his own story. I have the list of whose book is next and a ‘meet the fairies’ page on my website.

Please tell us a little about The Fairy Series.
The Fairy species is dying out. Only seven males and two female fairies remain. With the discovery of human mates, they must now find the other half of their soul. As if finding one person in all the earth isn’t hard enough. Fiendish creatures know as trolls lay in wait to destroy every fairy in existence and take control of the beautiful fairy kingdom. Will this be the last of the fairies?

What inspired you to have your Fairies, the male variety, wear nothing more than loincloths?
Selfishness, lol, if I had to write and picture them all day they were going to wear very little. Clothes should not cover up all those hard muscles and tanned skin.

JUST FOR FUN!

Favorite Movie or Television program:
Just one? I can’t do it. There are so many I watch repeatedly. True Blood, Castle, Cleopatra 2525, Robin Hood (with Kevin Costner), The Three Musketeers (Yes, the one with Charlie Sheen, before he was a warlock.), The Matchmaker, etc. (I could go on for pages.)

Coffee or Tea:
Both, with a side of hot naked man. (Brad Pitt or Eric Northman will do.)

Favorite food:
Chocolate covered strawberries.

Car I'd like to own before I kick the bucket:
I’m very earth friendly and I can’t wait to get my hands on that new electric car!

Favorite ice cream:
Chocolate because you can put it on any part of the body and it will taste delicious.

Anna, thank you for being our guest today.  It's been fun and ITA about chocolate!

This is the first in Ms. Keraleigh's Fairy Series.  I really wanted to rate/review this as a 5-An Alpha Howl, but the dialog seemed a bit choppy at times.  Nevertheless, I was not disappointed - nope - nada.  I am expecting great things from Ms. Keraleigh and her Fairy Series!

Oh no, don't be shakin' that head!  I was skeptical at first, too.  Fairies, with wings *chuckle* come on!  It sounded silly to me, but once I started reading, these "muscled models" wearing loincloths had me hooked!  Ms. Keraleigh has written a whimsical fairy world full of scrumptious fairy men and women.  Where one can lounge about on gigantic sunflowers, under the sun (or moon) while waiting for your fairy man to............

The fairy population is dwindling.  King Carrick travels to the earth's surface in search of that rare human female that may be able to see him; in the hopes they can produce offspring.  Once mated, the human body must be prepared by the fairy flavor.  *wagging eyebrows*

Brook is one of those rare females.  King Carrick seduces Brook, the attraction is hot and smokin', and he takes her to his kingdom.  He wants Brook to be his Queen.  Now, Brook loves her fairy man deeply and has decided to stay in the fairy Kingdom and be his Queen, but she would be the one to make the decision when they have children.  Oh, and be on the lookout for Wick, and his "licks".

Everything isn't all gumdrops and lollipops in Fairyland when the trolls set a trap for Carrick and attack Brook.  My heart broke for the wingless fairy, Valen, "a sex God on steroids".  All he wanted was to be loved; not to be alone.

During the Crowing of the Queen and the tasting of the honey, oh my, *fanning self*

I want more Wick and Whisper!  What happened to Thame?!?  And, yes, dammit, Valen too!!!
