Arie Anne Hews is a trained vampire hunter out for the kill. A chance meeting with the hated beings has Arie in turmoil. Especially, when handsome Dr. Jonas Nickels is on the scene.

Jonas Nickels has no desire to be involved with a mortal, but can't resist the dark-eyed beauty. Even if he is on her hit list.

Family secrets tinged with evil make an impossible path for star-crossed lovers.

Dee's Thoughts:

Arie is a strong, loyal, ass-kicking character. I enjoyed her immensely. Her growth as a person and her strength to accept new realities is much-admired.

Jonas I have been crushing on and I was so happy with the Leaf’s choice of mate for him. This character is strong, caring, and loving. His determination to be there for Arie and for their relationship to grow was incredibly sexy.

I don’t want to give anything away on this one and it would be to easy to considering its length. This is a great short read with great lead characters and worth a read.

Billie Joyce’s life-time dream of visiting New York City comes true, but the life changing experience is totally different than what she anticipated.

The blonde angel who saved her from death is one of the living dead and now, so is Billie Joyce. Problem is, she faints at the sight of blood. To make things more frustrating, she has to contend with a man who can find nothing right with her. Of course, he would have to be the one who creates more sensations in her body than she ever had when she was alive.

Marcus fights his attraction to the lavender eyed beauty who talks like she stepped out of My Fair Lady. After all, he’s no Henry Higgins, plus he got over the sex thing centuries ago. Besides, as the new King of the Vampires, who has time for women?

Dee's Thoughts:

Billie Joyce has had and is having some crappy luck. She is attacked in an alley and left for dead. Then her guardian angel appears and Billie Joyce is granted a new life, however it is an undead new life as a vampire. The real kicker is Billie Joyce can’t stand the sight of blood and each time she tries to feed she faints. Now she must face her past or her new life will be short lived as well.

Daniel is irate to discover Dovey has not only transformed a human, but has left her in his care. To add to his irritation this beautiful, soft bodied woman is stirring urges he hasn’t felt in years. Giving into those urges brings Daniel face to face with the fact he wants this woman as a wife and this women is hell bent on refusing him.

Billie Joyce’s character is from the south. Therefore, there is a lot of southern slang throughout the novella. I found her slang to be a bit of overkill. That is saying a lot since I am southern. It was used to such a degree that Billie Joyce became annoying and appeared less than intelligent.
Daniel seemed to find more things he didn’t like about Billie Joyce than things he did. With this factor it was hard to envision a true connection between the characters.

What I enjoyed about this novella is the continuation of Aaron and Dovey‘s story. This part of the novella made it all worth the read. Love this couple!

Discovering an unconscious man who may be vampire, in the neighbor’s yard leads werewolf Tawny Howls down a love path that’s not going to make her father happy. She senses this man is different, but that doesn’t stop her attraction. Werewolves and vampires are traditional enemies, and it doesn’t help when he remembers nothing about his prior life.

Awakening to find a beautiful woman hovering over him, he remembers nothing of his past life. When Tawny decides to call him David, he’s fine with the name and the attention he receives from his nurse. But why does the scent of the prey she hunts excite him more than the food she cooks?

Can the strong attraction between a shifter and a vampire overcome years of distrust for each other’s species? Will the discovery of his true identity ensnare them in a battle that endangers their lives, in an effort to save mankind from Demon rule?

I really enjoyed this romance about Tawny Howls, a werewolf and her unexpected love, David, a vampire. I liked how differences were overcome easily between species and the instant connection between Tawny and David was sweet. The love scenes were well written with just enough details to make it hot, but leaving out enough to leave the imagination room to takeover!! Very nice!

At the beginning we read how Tawny finds David unconscious. When he does wake he has no memory of being a vampire and the two have to find out who he is. The story takes off when Tawny and David have to join with their friends to battle evil demons who want to take over the world and rule. The author introduces a lot characters in the first chapter and for me it was a bit confusing just trying to sort out who was who and finally who the main characters were going to be. Once I could see where each person fit in, I couldn't put it down. I loved how the writer made David a good guy, literally, and it was nice to see how the author kept the story flowing all the way to the end. I did feel like I was missing something during certain chapters though. For example, while I was reading a scene at the beginning about Bobby, one of the werewolves, and a witch, I didn't understand where the characters fit in until a couple of pages later when the back story was told. The story just seemed to jump from one major couple to a completely new couple in the span of a page. I really thought for a minute that Bobby and David were going to be the couple and Tawny was going to be a third wheel.

Overall, a good short story to read, just remember that you will meet a lot of people quickly and the first people you read about are not major players in the reading. I would still recommend this one for a quick read when you've got time between books!
