Author:  JENNIFER ASHLEY
Source:  My Private Stash
Genre:  Historical Romance
Length:  Novel, 384 pages
Reviewed by:   ARTEMIS

Daniel Mackenzie lives up to the reputation of the scandalous Mackenzie family—he has wealth, looks, and talent, and women love him. When he meets Violet Bastien—one of the most famous spiritual mediums in England—he immediately knows two things: that Miss Bastien is a fraud, and that he’s wildly attracted to her.

Violet knows she can’t really contact the other side, but she’s excellent at reading people. She discerns quickly that Daniel is intelligent and dangerous to her reputation, but she also finds him generous, handsome, and outrageously wicked. But spectres from Violet’s past threaten to destroy her, and she flees England, adopting yet another identity.

Daniel is determined to find the elusive Violet and pursue the passion he feels for her. And though Violet knows that her scandalous past will keep her from proper marriage, her attraction to Daniel is irresistible. It’s not until Daniel is the only one she can turn to that he proves he believes in something more than cold facts. He believes in love.

Quick review The Many Sins of Lord Cameron by Jennifer Ashley

The Many Sins of Lord Cameron (Highland Pleasures #3)
by Jennifer Ashley
Source: I purchased
Genre: Historical romance
Length: Novel mass paperback

A renowned rake, Cameron Mackenzie doesn't care if Ainsley Douglas has a virtuous excuse for sneaking around his bedchamber. He only cares that she's at his mercy. One kiss at a time, he plans to seduce her. But what starts out as a lusty diversion may break Cam's own rules.

WOW! Jennifer Ashley sure can write some steamy stories that holds my attention. I loved this one. I am not an overly huge historical fan but this Mackenzie series I believe I could read over and over again. You get it all danger, excitement, suspense, fun and adventure in each book.

To save time I am not going into the story. I do want to mention that Cameron really hit me hard. I have never come across a book where a man stood such abuse from his first wife. Heck even I want to make her pay. I do want to warn there’s mention or male rape in this story. I loved reading both Cameron and Ainsley and of course, the rest of the Mackenzie's.

This is one of my highly recommend series. If you haven’t read it get going. If you have make sure you get to this one.(less)

After three turbulent years of marriage, she scandalized London once again--this time by leaving him.

Now the reformed Mac has returned, and he wants one thing: Isabella back in his life, his house, his bed. He'll do anything he has to, play any game, as long as he gets her back. Isabella resists, but when she agrees to pose for erotic paintings he's been working on, she realizes her body has never stopped craving her husband’s very skilled touch. Mac is determined to show Isabella that he's a changed man, but three years without her has only increased his hunger for her.

When an ingenious forger with designs on Mac's paintings, and Isabella herself, comes dangerously near, Mac sets himself up as Isabella’s protector and vows to never leave her side, whether his independent and proud lady likes it or not

Before I get into the review I would like to say for those of you that loves PNR and has never tried a historical this would be an excellent series to try. You still get adventure and the great hot sex thats in PNR of course, you’d miss the paranormal part, but with all the fun that’s in this series I don’t think you’d miss it much.

The second book in the Mackenzie series did not disappoint me one bit. My words for the whole book is delightfully fun! Jennifer Ashley does it again I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the way she kept what Mac done in the past to make Isabella leave away from you while you read, then she starts throwing in little details about it before she just piles it all on. I found it a fabulous idea, it kept me turning the pages. But the author doesn’t stop with that, she also gives you lots of different emotions, humor, danger, a mystery with a villain that’s full of surprises then she tops it off with hot romance with cream on top;) I just cant ask for anything more.

Very little spoilers
Isabella was wonderful to read. She is the one who always ends up in the news with all of her scandalous ways of living. And you know what the first big scandal was, her marring Mac. This book is about her past life with Mac present and future. If you read the first book in this series you found she and Mac is separated. She is still in love with Mac but doesn’t want to put up with his ways anymore. But she soon finds you can and should give someone a second chance. She also learns in return she has to give it all to Mac including her heart and trust before they are both whole again.

I loved reading about Mac and how he wants to make things right again between Isabella and himself. Isabella is not going to take off of Mac again. Mac soon finds out he has to give all before Isabella will have him. Then on top of things someone is after him and Isabella. He will stop at nothing to keep from loosing her this time around.

I love the way there is already so much love between these two even after what all has happened, they want no one else. Now with saying that let me tell you a little on the really hot sex, I am not going to spoil to much, lets just say it involves some cream and body part;) It was so good, I still remember the page numbers and I have never done that! Its 98 and 99. It was delicious and fun to read. Now the problem is going to be waiting for the next book…….

Its best to read this series in order

Review The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley

The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie book one in the Highland Pleasures
Author- Jennifer Ashley
Historic romance
Mass Market Paperback, 336 pages
Authors website

Book description
The year is 1881. Meet the Mackenzie family--rich, powerful, dangerous, eccentric. A lady couldn't be seen with them without ruin. Rumors surround them--of tragic violence, of their mistresses, of their dark appetites, of scandals that set England and Scotland abuzz.

The youngest brother, Ian, known as the Mad Mackenzie, spent most of his young life in an asylum, and everyone agrees he is decidedly odd. He's also hard and handsome and has a penchant for Ming pottery and beautiful women.

Beth Ackerley, widow, has recently come into a fortune. She has decided that she wants no more drama in her life. She was raised in drama--an alcoholic father who drove them into the workhouse, a frail mother she had to nurse until her death, a fussy old lady she became constant companion to. No, she wants to take her money and find peace, to travel, to learn art, to sit back and fondly remember her brief but happy marriage to her late husband.

And then Ian Mackenzie decides he wants her.

This is the first historical romance I found mind-blowing. I was sucked in from the first chapter. I tend to get tired of the same old virgin line you find in a lot of historical. This one was nothing like them. I loved the writing style of Jennifer Ashley, she makes characters come to life in your head. I really like reading tortured men and these for brothers are just that. But then Jennifer adds them with some madness, scandals and topped off with some hot steamy romance you just cant go wrong.

Beth found herself engaged to the wrong man when Ian gave her a letter telling her what her soon to be husband truly was. But what she doesn’t know is what scandals the madman Ian is into either. I really liked reading Beth she is a very strong heroine that has the backbone to do the impossible that no Mackenzie has gotten done and that she solved the case and it almost cost her everything.

Ian was in it to steal her from Mather. But who can blame him considering what Mather is. I really liked reading Ian he finds that his life is worth more than he ever imagined with Beth.

I loved the romance in this book it starts out slow and picks up a lot from there. I really liked the way Jennifer adds the other three brothers in the story. You get to read about them enough to where you cant wait for their book without it being over board and taking away from Ian and Beth’s story

I simply loved this book. It has everything that I enjoy in a good paranormal romance. Let me give you a small list; some violence,(lets just say this book is not for the faint of heart in some parts), some humor, a mystery, excitement, sizzling hot sex, and a shape shifting world unlike I have never read before.

Here is a small list of things I liked; Liam and Kim have the right amount of sizzle, each is stubborn at times, then they are totally working together in their romance. So you don’t get to much of roll over and give in or stubborn in either one. I also like how the shape shifting world is explained not to over the top, plus it doesn’t take away form the romance or storyline. I like how the claiming of mates is done, it’s very different from most shape shifter books.

I love my alphas to have respect to all those around him and Liam has that. As a hot alpha he can bring down the best of them, but never disrespects his family or friends. Kim is wonderful the way she can stand up to the shape shifters, but still have a heart for all that’s around her in the shape shifting town. I also liked,Sean and Conner, Liam’s brothers. They are very hot.

The only drawback was Kim at some points keeps comparing Liam and Able to each other, it’s not much, but it still got under my skin.

This was a very hot sexy PNR with all the right stuff for me. Now, I just need the next book……
