Nicolai the Vampire is renowned for his virility, but in a cruel twist of fate “The Dark Seducer” has become a sex slave in the kingdom of Delfina—stripped of his precious timepiece and his memory. All that remains is a primal need for freedom, revenge—and the only woman who can help him.

I don’t normally write reviews with spoilers but this review will have a few. Sorry!

I did like the story idea and the characters. I have also enjoyed all of Gena’s books until this one, but we can’t love them all.

I did like the connection between Nicolai and Jane. I just found Jane over the top so much so I found myself rolling my eyes at a lot of things she done. Here’s one instance. She still has injuries from a bad car wreck, then she has her back whipped into pieces but yet she made them both a place to get out of the weather and weapons, while in that kind physical shape. No freaking way... Then there’s the constant Jane takes everything in stride no matter what’s done to her. It drove me nuts reading it. No way would someone take on as much as she did. I like fiction but I do like it a little more realistic. Nicolai was ok I just didn’t care for this vocabulary. To me it read like he was Tarzan talking.

The coupling was good I did feel some between them, I just get tired of the fact these characters can be in all kinds of physical shape, but yet they are always up for nookie. LOL It takes them all I guess.

Then there was that one word that kept being said over and over and yet over again. Let me think what was it?? Oh yeah, "Mine" as much as I like that word, it can be carried away. I thought I was going to scream if mine was said one more time and don’t get me started with the loincloth issue being said over and over again either GRR.

Nope, I really like Gena I think she a great writer, but this one didn’t cut it for me. Sorry. Just make sure you read good and bad reviews before buying.

Interview with Gena Showalter and giveaways

Gena is hosting one question and giveaways per blog. Here is my question and answer.

Q- Do you have a favorite Lord? If so who?

A- I absolutely, utterly adore Strider, keeper of Defeat. (You’ll get to read all about him in The Darkest Surrender this October!)  I love his naughty sense of humor, his complete lack of inhibitions, and his willingness to do anything to win a fight -- even stab his best friend while playing XBox.  What that says about me, I’m not sure.

The Darkest Secret blurb

In this sexy new installment of New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld series, the haunted Amun meets a woman who tempts him like no other.

Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. But when the immortal warrior is chained and isolated to protect those he loves, death is his only hope of release—until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty.

Haidee is a demon-assassin, raised to despise Amun’s kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul…and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.

There will be two winners for The Darkest Secret. So you better be quick below. Please tell who is your favorite LOTU below and give a shout out to Gena along with your email if it not on your profile.

Giveaway is sponsored by Harlequin and open to addresses in the U.S. and Canada only.

My review of Darkest Secret  I want to think Harlequin for asking me to review Darkest Secret.

Gena Showalter delivers a deep depth into emotions with The Darkest Secret; LOTU fans will not be disappointed. You may even find yourself hanging onto your book so tight that you’ll leave prints. I fell hard for both Amun and Haidee. Both enemy’s and yet they need each other in a way that is so deep that will leave your mouth hanging open saying I can’t believe Gena pulled this off and yet she didn’t drag the story out or leave you feeling that they were trusted together to fast and hard. Totally brilliant! You get tons of action and secrets galore to unravel.

I enjoyed the way Gena wrote the romance between these two enemies. When Hadiee is brought in by Strider she never dream she would find an attraction among the enemy, nor did Amun. These two need each other in a way that they cant deny. In order to save each other both must pay a price, one pays a higher price by giving their life.

I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out who or what Haidee really was and when I found out, I was left with my mouth hung open saying WOW! Leave it to Gena to think about writing it this way.

As always you get to know the other Lords more. One of the Lords gets his butt kicked by Amun, that right someone should have kept his thoughts or secret to himself LOL.

The only downside I found and it may leave some of you ticked is the sexual tension is very high between these two, but you won’t get to the actual sex for a long, long while, so just hang on. Oh ya, you may get mad almost the end…. Yep, it left me gasping and saying NO! Please don’t leave it this way..  Oh ya, you have to read it to find out what all happeneds.

Few spoilers
The Darkest Passion is not one of my favorite out of the series. I had a hard time getting into the first 250 pages of this book. All I seamed to read was how desperate Olivia wants to be with Aeron, she all but got on her knees and begged and I do believed she would have done just that. And every time Aeron keep wanting to take her to town to get rid of her, she would try to put a guilt tip on him, so she could stay grrr. I know she went though a lot to be with him but after the first 100 pages this is enough no more trying to make him keep her. And then there is Legion I mean throw her out of a window of a high story building. Legion will really make you hate her with her extreme measures she does just to keep Aeron. Its really amazing what Olivia and Legion do to try to keep him to their selves

This does change after 250 pgs. There was more excitement added to the book plus Olivia finely cools her engine for Aeron. When Aeron wants to start up she tells him no she doesn’t want to be brought to a point and said no to again, I finely said “good for her”. This is also where the story turns sad. So at some point before 250 pages you want to quit please keep going you may also find the last better then the first.

I really liked Aeron until he gave into the notion to have romantic relations with Legion, I lost it all my like for him after that.

I really enjoyed reading more on Paris, William and Gideon and knowing that Gideon‘s book is next it made this one well worth reading, I cant wait for his book. I would like to add there are lot of excellent passages in this book, so don’t be surprised when you read something and have to read it again and just be in awe at how it was written(

Gena Showalter book signing

First off I want to think Gena for coming and Sherlock's bookstore for inviting her. It was a mess here today with all the flooding, storms and tornado warnings, I myself was soaked! A lot of the town was flooded and closed off. So I know there was a lot of people that didn't show up because of it. I know Stacey will add a post about what she thought about the book singing.Stacey's camera's battery went out, so my daughter took all the pictures for us and I will add a few to this post. I really wished I had a little more time with Stacey but the weather was so bad it just wasn't possible. I hope next weekend while we are at J.R Wards signing we will have more time.

I had a blast with Stacey and lunch with Gena was something I will never forget. Gena let us ask her questions she was so nice and shy;) and OMG she is beautiful, if you ever get a chance please go and see her. I will post the first Into the Dark giveaway book in the morning

I loved how the display table was done:)
