On the eve of her first comic book release, Ella Briley has a problem: no date to the
launch party. Things go from bad to worse when she stumbles into the past . . . and straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.

Patrick St. John, Earl of Meadowfair, is too noble for his own good. To save his friend from what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he's agreed to whisk the girl off to wed the man she truly loves. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes Ella for the would-be bride . . . and finds this modern girl far too tempting for even the noblest of men to resist.
This was a fun time-travel romance.  It really didn't look at what happens to the time line when you go back, it just assumes that it all works out somehow.  I think what I liked most about the time-travel aspect was Ella's reaction to the living conditions.  She has to use a chamber pot - super embarassing.  I loved seeing the reaction of a modern woman to Regency times.

Ella was not at all happy to find herself stuck in the past with Patrick, but she'll have to work with him in order to get back to London and find her way home.  Patrick was quite a gentleman, and seemed to be truly worried about the strange crazy girl he accidently kidnapped.  I loved his thoughfulness and he really was just about everything I would hope to see in a romantic hero.

Of course, they do find themselves in all sorts of trouble a few times.  But it really gave the story a light-hearted feeling between more serious scenes.  The ending was a bit of a surprise, but I really love it - espcially the part about the toilet.  You'll just to read to find out what I mean!

Guest Post and Giveaway: Top 5 Places You'd Like to Travel Back in Time To by Gina Lamm

Hi everyone! I’d like to thank Bitten By Romance for having me today! It’s hard to believe that KISS THE EARL will actually be releasing tomorrow! I can’t wait to share Ella and Patrick with you. This story is one of my favorites, and I hope you’ll love it!

Today I’m talking about the top 5 places/times I’d like to travel back to, if I had my own TARDIS. I’ll stick with Earth, though!

5. Ancient Greece

So, if you’ve heard me ramble on a bit before, you’ll know I was a theatre rat in high school, and I even majored in theatre in college. (Don’t worry, I didn’t graduate with a theatre degree, so there’s nothing collecting dust in the top of my closet. Sigh.) So of course I’d need to go back and see the birth time (and place!) of theatre. It began with festivals to honor the gods, specifically Dionysus, the god of winemaking, religious ecstasy (heh), theatre, and fertility. The actors were all male, and they performed comedies, tragedies, and satyrs in amphitheaters. Also, lovely draped togas. Ain’t no party like an Ancient Greek party, so I’d make this my #5 place to travel in time to!

#4 – Restoration England

In 1660, England went through a big change. The monarchy returned and the puritanical reign of Cromwell was at an end. Thus, the people partied, and partied hard. Also, this was a great time period for fashion. Powdered wigs, huge dresses with tons of flounces and lace, fancy fancy everywhere! Oddly enough, also another great time for theatre. The Restoration comedy is a really fun genre, witty and bawdy at the same time. AND, for all my femmes out there, this was the first time female actors were permitted onstage! So it was a turning point for women’s rights, in a way. Yeah, I’d need to take a trip over to Restoration England in my TARDIS, for sure.

#3 – The Roaring 20’s

Hmmm. Thus far there seems to be a theme here. Apparently I long to go back to any period in time when people were partying their butts off. But come on, the twenties?!? Women had just gotten the right to vote! And technology was seeing a huge boom. Cars, movies, telephones, for the first time the world had begun to change so fast that people had a hard time keeping up. Art, design, dance, culture, everything was moving forward fast in the twenties. I’d love to be a part of that. Besides, I think I could totally rock the flapper look. Well, maybe not at the moment. This twin baby bump wouldn’t look so great in flapper tassels… But yeah. I’d love to stop in the twenties.

#2 – Japan, the Edo Period

And this list just took a giant swerve. Yeah, the Edo Period in Japanese history wasn’t exactly known for partying. BUT, I’ve got one word for you. Samurai. Yeah. I’ve got a schoolgirl crush on the samurai. The Edo period covers the 1600s through the mid 1800s. During that time, Japan was pretty isolated from the outside world, but they were definitely studying the advances going on around them and making some strides of their own. There was kind of a renaissance in fashion, art, and industry within the country, so there’d be plenty to see in this time period. But honestly, what girl doesn’t want her own samurai?

And last, most obvious, and the SINGLE MOST WANTED PLACE on this list for me…
#1 IS……….

Regency England

Okay, come on, duh. You’d have to know a Regency Time Travel author would want to go to Regency England most of all, right? I mean, I’ve done more research on this time period than any other. I want to waltz at Almack’s, and ride through Hyde Park, and eat ices at Gunter’s. I want Lord Byron to read me poetry, and go shopping on Bond Street. I want to visit Astley’s amphitheater and see the latest plays. Sigh.

If you need me, I’ll be over here reading one of the Geek Girl books so I can pretend I’m actually visiting Regency England.

Thanks again for having me, and I’d love to hear what your choice would be if you had a time machine of your own!

XOXO,
Gina Lamm

ARC Review: Geek Girls Don't Date Dukes by Gina Lamm

Title: Geek Girls Don't Date Dukes (Geek Girls #2)
Author: Gina Lamm
Source: Netgalley
Genre: Time-Travel Historical Romance
Length: Novel (352pgs)

Pub Date: Sept 3, 2013 by Sourcebooks Casablanca

Leah Ramsey has always loved historical romance novels and dressing in period costumes. So when she has a chance to time travel and experience the history for herself, she jumps at it—figuring it can't be too hard to catch the eye of a duke. After all, it happens all the time in her novels.

Avery Russell, valet and prize pugilist, reluctantly helps Leah gain a position in the Duke of Granville's household . . . as a maid.

Domestic servitude wasn't exactly what she had in mind, but she's determined to win her happily ever after. Even if the hero isn't exactly who she's expecting.

Sweet, funny, and sexy. Geek Girl's Don't Date Dukes was just what I needed when I was in the mood for a pick me up :)

After Leah's best friend finds  true-love in the past, through a magical wardrobe, she just knows her time has come when the opportunity arrives for her to travel back in time herself. Sheassumes she will end up with a duke like her friend and won't settle for less than what she deserves. Unfortunately we all know the saying about assumptions; which leads to some pretty hilarious situations when she finds herself as a maid. She does eventually find herself in a loftier postion, but when the sparks don't fly with the duke what's a lady to do?

A super cute and unexpected romance will brighten your day with Geek Girls Don't Date Dukes.
I highly suggest checking it out.
