Hi everyone! I’d
like to thank Bitten By Romance for having me today! It’s hard to believe that
KISS THE EARL will actually be releasing tomorrow! I can’t wait to share Ella
and Patrick with you. This story is one of my favorites, and I hope you’ll love
it!
Today I’m talking
about the top 5 places/times I’d like to travel back to, if I had my own
TARDIS. I’ll stick with Earth, though!
5. Ancient Greece

So, if you’ve heard
me ramble on a bit before, you’ll know I was a theatre rat in high school, and
I even majored in theatre in college. (Don’t worry, I didn’t graduate with a
theatre degree, so there’s nothing collecting dust in the top of my closet.
Sigh.) So of course I’d need to go back and see the birth time (and place!) of
theatre. It began with festivals to honor the gods, specifically Dionysus, the
god of winemaking, religious ecstasy (heh), theatre, and fertility. The actors
were all male, and they performed comedies, tragedies, and satyrs in
amphitheaters. Also, lovely draped togas. Ain’t no party like an Ancient Greek
party, so I’d make this my #5 place to travel in time to!
#4 – Restoration
England
In 1660, England
went through a big change. The monarchy returned and the puritanical reign of
Cromwell was at an end. Thus, the people partied, and partied hard. Also, this
was a great time period for fashion. Powdered wigs, huge dresses with tons of
flounces and lace, fancy fancy everywhere! Oddly enough, also another great
time for theatre. The Restoration comedy is a really fun genre, witty and bawdy
at the same time. AND, for all my femmes out there, this was the first time
female actors were permitted onstage! So it was a turning point for women’s
rights, in a way. Yeah, I’d need to take a trip over to Restoration England in
my TARDIS, for sure.
#3 – The Roaring
20’s
Hmmm. Thus far
there seems to be a theme here. Apparently I long to go back to any period in
time when people were partying their butts off. But come on, the twenties?!? Women
had just gotten the right to vote! And technology was seeing a huge boom. Cars,
movies, telephones, for the first time the world had begun to change so fast
that people had a hard time keeping up. Art, design, dance, culture, everything
was moving forward fast in the twenties. I’d love to be a part of that.
Besides, I think I could totally rock the flapper look. Well, maybe not at the
moment. This twin baby bump wouldn’t look so great in flapper tassels… But
yeah. I’d love to stop in the twenties.
#2 – Japan, the Edo
Period
And this list just
took a giant swerve. Yeah, the Edo Period in Japanese history wasn’t exactly
known for partying. BUT, I’ve got one word for you. Samurai. Yeah. I’ve got a
schoolgirl crush on the samurai. The Edo period covers the 1600s through the
mid 1800s. During that time, Japan was pretty isolated from the outside world,
but they were definitely studying the advances going on around them and making
some strides of their own. There was kind of a renaissance in fashion, art, and
industry within the country, so there’d be plenty to see in this time period.
But honestly, what girl doesn’t want her own samurai?
And last, most
obvious, and the SINGLE MOST WANTED PLACE on this list for me…
#1 IS……….
Regency England
Okay, come on, duh.
You’d have to know a Regency Time Travel author would want to go to Regency
England most of all, right? I mean, I’ve done more research on this time period
than any other. I want to waltz at Almack’s, and ride through Hyde Park, and
eat ices at Gunter’s. I want Lord Byron to read me poetry, and go shopping on
Bond Street. I want to visit Astley’s amphitheater and see the latest plays.
Sigh.
If you need me,
I’ll be over here reading one of the Geek Girl books so I can pretend I’m
actually visiting Regency England.
Thanks again for
having me, and I’d love to hear what your choice would be if you had a time
machine of your own!
XOXO,
Gina Lamm

A modern girl’s
guide to seducing Mr. Darcy
When Ella Briley
asked her lucky-in-love friends to set her up for an office party, she was
expecting a blind date. Instead, she’s pulled through a magic mirror and into
the past…straight into the arms of her very own Mr. Darcy.
Patrick Meadowfair,
earl of Fairhaven, is too noble for his own good. To save a female friend from
what is sure to be a loveless marriage, he’s agreed to whisk her off to wed the
man she truly wants. But all goes awry when Patrick mistakes Ella for the
would-be bride and kidnaps her instead.
Centuries away from
everything she knows, Ella’s finally found a man who heats her blood and leaves
her breathless. Too bad he’s such a perfect gentleman. Yet the reluctant rake
may just find this modern girl far too tempting for even the noblest of men to
resist…
