Birthday Bash!

Let’s Party!

I'm celebrating this weekend and you're invited!

It’s my birthday this weekend and I wanted to share it with you!  I gathered up some goodies from AAD NOLA 2012, added in a few extra specials.  Oh, come on – it'll be fun.  We'll share our best ever birthday story. OoO *raisinghand*  I have one!

One of my favorite birthdays was ten years ago, my *coughcoughcough* birthday.  Hubs and I spent a wild weekend in HotLanta.  (Mind out of the gutter, it’s not THAT kind of story.)  The NASCAR Boys were racing in Atlanta that weekend.  We had already planned on attending and getting seats in the "chicken bone" section of the track.  (If you have ever been to a NASCAR race you K-N-O-W what I'm talkin' about!)  But my boss (at that time) gave me tickets to the race.  These tickets were primo seats at the start/finish line!  It gets even better...  Just a few weeks earlier, I won tickets to see The Rolling Stones in concert - yep, in Atlanta!  We had a blast!  Partying at the Stones concert on Saturday night, getting in a few hours of shut-eye, and then heading to the track before the crack of dawn.  It was a Grand Birthday Weekend Celebration!

Not only is it my birthday, it’s an Extra Special Celebration because I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this wild, wonderful and wacky world of Bitten By Paranormal Romance for two years now!  I admit I have been somewhat MIA lately, (life doesn’t take NO for an answer), but thankfully Laurie didn’t kick me to the curb.  I have so much fun with the Pack and have met an astonishing number of interesting and colorful people from all walks of life:  I am honored to call these people My Friends.

Thank you, Laurie.

Characterfest interview #25 with Dante by Jae Lynne Davies

Please welcome Dante and Jae Lynn Davies

Everything’s Better with Fangs
**WARNING…This interview contains spoilers from Mythic and Blood Moon**

Hey everyone!
Thanks for joining me today. I’m Jae Lynne Davies, author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. I’m thrilled to be a part of Characterfest this year and want to thank the lovely, Laurie for having me. Today, I’m shining the spotlight on Dante Diakos, the leading man from my latest release, Blood Moon (book 2 in the Mythic series).

Let me begin by giving you a brief description of the series and the respective installments.

Mythic is the story of human/vampire hybrid, Gianna Marino and her quest for vengeance against vampire, Mattias Vitale for the death of her parents over two hundred years earlier. She locates her target in London, heading a vampire coven and a rather prolific underground nightlife.

Gianna poses as human with a desire to be turned by Mattias, but she enters into more than she bargained for when she finds herself attracted to the very man who took everything from her. Then vampire, Nicholas Sutton enters the scene with an agenda of his own and becomes a part of Gianna’s dangerous and seductive plans. But when Gianna learns a secret that could ultimately change the course of her existence, she has a rather large decision to make. Which side will she choose?

Blood Moon (the second novel in the Mythic series) continues along the journey of human/vampire hybrid, Gianna Marino. Gianna makes a deal with the devil in the form of smoldering hot, vampire coven leader, Mattias Vitale and agrees to return to London with him, so long as he abides by her terms.
Gianna and Mattias have a complicated relationship that seems to be budding into something more than she planned, especially when her heart belongs to another man. While Mattias declares his love for the hybrid, she’s not so sure of what she feels besides betrayal and blackmail.

Characterfest interview # 24 with Veiron by Felicity E Heaton

Please welcome Verion and  Felicity E Heaton

I’m here today to catch up with a very special man. Actually, he’s more of an angel, but we don’t really use that word around him because he was forced to fall into the Devil’s service and become one of his Hell’s angels, so he gets twitchy and a little bit mad whenever anyone mentions that word in relation to him.

I have permission from his heroine to pay him a visit today, which is a good thing because Erin can get seriously jealous when any woman so much as flicks a glance at her smexy man! Totally understandable. He’s a lethally hot warrior after all. Extremely swoon-worthy and the ultimate bad boy.

I’m in an apartment building in London. It’s a tasteful brick affair and we’re on the top floor, where there are only two flats. The corridor is stark white and minimalist, and I know that the apartment I’m approaching looks similar on the inside, mixing clean smooth walls with an open ceiling that reveals industrial pipes.

I flex my fingers to settle my nerves and then knock. It has been a while since I last saw Veiron, and I’m eager to catch up with him.

The pale door eases open to reveal the six-foot-plus immense slice of smexy himself. His dark eyes pin me and I swallow, basking in his beauty. His dark red eyebrows pinch together.

“You’re looking at me like I’m prime steak,” he says, his deep baritone doing strange things to my insides. “If Erin were here, she’d be getting testy right about now.”

“Oh, she’s out?” Why does that thought please me so much? I get Veiron alone. Heavens. “What a shame.”

A sexy grin tugs at his lips. “Yeah, right.”

He steps back and even that small action makes me sigh as his muscles shift beneath his tight black clothing. I flick a glance at his crimson hair. It was beautiful when it was longer but he’s pulling off the shorter style, and it has already grown to his shoulders.

“No lucky leather thong?” I reach up and twirl the short ponytail at the back of his head and he smiles again.

“Erin doesn’t like it.” He catches my hand and presses a kiss to the back of it. “Now, we have an interview to do, don’t we?”

I nod dumbly. His hand is hot against mine, fingers pressing in deliciously. He kicks the apartment door closed and leads me inside. The apartment is open plan, with a huge bank of windows opposite me and the bright pink kitchen to the left. It was Erin’s bachelorette pad originally. Veiron leads me to the living area on the right and releases my hand. He sprawls out on the black chaise longue, melting into the midnight velvet fabric, and stretches his arms up and settles his hands against the back of his head.

Kendall Morgan is a human bloodhound. Spending her childhood hunting relics with her ambitious archeologist father, she knew the two of them shared a sixth sense for the history and location of objects—sometimes even people. What she didn’t know was that their paranormal gift could ultimately be their undoing.

After the tragic plane crash that killed her father as well as her childhood best friend, Kendall dedicated her life to finding and protecting relics. When mysterious, sexy billionaire Nathan Larraby hires her for his latest expedition—the search for four powerful relics —she’s thrown into a world of high-octane danger. He sends brooding mercenary Jake Stone to watch Kendall’s back, but he may have created danger of a different kind.

As the team chases down clues, a man called the Reaper makes a play for the artifacts and will stop at nothing to put them to his own sinister use. What’s worse is that Nathan hasn’t told the whole story, and the dark secrets he’s keeping could cost them the mission…and their lives

So I am all about some adventure and a strong female character.  This book delivers on both counts. It made me feel as though I was in an Indiana Jones book, you know the one where Indy and his female counterpart have a love hate relationship that is comical.  But Kendall is the relic expect in this book which gives her an edge and specialty all her own that matches Jakes tough military persona. Throw in Nathan with his mysterious metro-feel and you have a mix of flutters any girl would want.  Hmmm which would you choose?
Thank fully this is a series that I cannot wait to see where it takes me, and Kendall, next.

Characterfest interview #23 with Justin by Sarah Daniel

Character Interview with Holly Walters of The Wiccan Haus: A Man Worth Fighting For by Sara Daniel

Today we welcome Holly Walters of The Wiccan Haus: A Man Worth Fighting For. Thank you for coming to chat with us today, Holly. Why do you think Sara Daniel chose you to represent her?
Well, that’s easy. She tried to get the hero of A Man Worth Fighting For—Justin Lawson—to come here, and he refused. Since running a PR company is my job, I understand the value of reaching out to people and building a solid network. Honestly, I’ll be able to tell you more about Justin than he’d ever admit. And I’m offering a copy of The Wiccan Haus: A Man Worth Fighting For to one person who leaves a comment naming their favorite thing about Justin.

Why don’t you tell us a little about yourself first.
Justin, who I’d been dating for a year, sent me an eight-word text to end our relationship. “I don’t want to see you anymore. Sorry.” Really? That’s all I get after a year together? I don’t think so. Sometimes a girl has to stick up for herself and demand better, so that’s exactly what I did. I tracked Justin all the way to the Wiccan Haus.

Do you feel you were portrayed fairly?
I wasn’t very happy that calling all of Justin’s colleagues and taking a week off work to find him made me look like a stalker ex-girlfriend. Then Sara made me look like I was going crazy because of all the weird—some people would say magical—things happening on the island. My clients depend on my upstanding, sane reputation. But you know what? I forgive Sara because she brought me to Justin and gave us a second chance to work out our issues.

Speaking of Justin, what do you think of him getting his picture on the cover? Are you jealous you don’t get to share the cover with him?
Not at all jealous. Justin is a determined, honorable man who will go to any length to protect the people he cares about. Despite putting his life on the line every day for his country, he never figured out that he is a man worth fighting for. That’s why I came to the Wiccan Haus to fight for him. That’s why I’m on this blog spilling our private details. Besides, have you ever seen a hotter, sexier man than my Justin? No, you haven’t, and that perfection deserves to have an entire cover devoted to it.

Okay, well, I can see you strong feelings on that subject. How about a completely different topic: Do you believe in ghosts?
Well, if you’d asked me before I came to the Wiccan Haus, I would have said absolutely not. But after spending a week at the Wiccan Haus, let’s just say I now believe in things I never imagined existed before. Ghosts don’t even begin to cover it.

Why should the readers be interested in your story?
Besides the fact that reading A Man Worth Fighting For is like taking a mini-vacation to the Wiccan Haus, everyone needs to meet Justin and hear his story of bravery, healing and determination. If that’s not enough for you, here’s the clincher. He’s sexy, strong and vulnerable all at once. Who wouldn’t fall for a man like that? However, since I’m not going to share him with you, you’ll just have to read the book if you want to experience it for yourself!

Below is a little teaser for the next book in the Wiccan Haus series, Psychic Lies by Sara Daniel, which releases on Friday.

Fiona has spent her life hiding her sexual mind-reading power at the risk of being exploited by the government. Instead, she pretends to have lifebond vetting powers like the rest of her family. When her fake power results in the death of an innocent woman, her life of lies unravels and she retreats to the Wiccan Haus.

Armando is the head of the Department of Truth-Finding for the Syndicate. To prove his unit’s worth to the government, he follows Fiona to the Wiccan Haus to expose her as an infiltrator of an enemy faction. The truth about Fiona is even more valuable to his people and his career.

Fiona uses her power to seduce Armando and stop his plans to betray her. But nothing is strong enough to keep her from falling in love with this man whose power threatens to destroy her. Now she must trust him, not only with her life and her psychic lies, but also her heart.

Don’t forget to leave a comment with your favorite thing about Justin. Holly will pick the winner, and Sara Daniel will deliver an e-copy of The Wiccan Haus: A Man Worth Fighting For to the winner. Don’t forget to specify your preferred format (Kindle, Nook or pdf).

Charcterfest interview #22 with Roman and Sam by Suzanne Rock

Please welcome Suzanne Rock with Sam and Roman!

Interview with Sam and Roman, the two warlocks from Bonded In Blood

Suzanne (SR): Good Morning. J Today I’d like to introduce everyone to Roman and Sam, the two heroes in my new M/M/F story, Bonded in Blood. This is the first story in a brand new series called The Warlock Mating Chronicles.

Sam (S): It’s good that we’re keeping detailed records of our mating. So many new revelations have come upon us just within the last few months. The laws of magic are tricky and need to be handled with caution and care. These new revelations have forced us to review our laws and make changes accordingly.

Roman (R): Yes. *takes Sam’s hand* For example, never before had two men been openly able to express their love.

S: Or our mutual love for a female.

R: *Nods* One mate for each warlock. It was our way.

SR: Okay, I think we’re losing people. Maybe we should start at the beginning.

S: Good idea. We’re both part of Maddock Coven, one of the last all-warlock Covens in the United States.

R: We were all warlocks. We have Cyrah now.

S: *smiles* Yes. That was pure luck on our part.

R: Agreed. *Squeezes Sam’s hand*

SR: So Maddock Coven is an all-warlock coven. It must be difficult to keep up membership.

S: You’re telling me. The only way that someone could become a member is if they showed warlock blood.

SR: How are warlocks created, through procreation?

R: All warlocks are born as humans. No one knows if they were kissed by magic or not until their teenage years. Then their innate magic will begin to show. This magic can only grow and be sustained through sex with a woman.

S: Not just one woman, lots of women.

Characterfest interview #21 with Endelle by Caris Roane

Please welcome Endelle and Caris Roane

A Fashion Critique, by Endelle of Second Earth, with Caris Roane moderating…

Caris Roane cocks her head at the leader of Second Earth.  “So, how did you develop your unusual sense of fashion?”

Endelle bursts out laughing, then says, “One gaudy piece of shit at a time.  And yes, before you state the obvious, it has been said that I look like I’m dressing for a Halloween party every day of my life and why the hell not?”

Caris shakes her head and glances at her notes then back at Endelle.

The Amazonian Second Ascender is wearing some kind of black leather bodysuit, pieced together like a quilt with ribbing between of banana python.  Her large breasts are barely covered, but a clever ‘shrug’ climbs up her neck to form a tall collar and add interest to the ensemble.  The collar supports her mass of curly black hair that rises to a strange height and which is held in place with a gothic crown of intricate yellow-and-black beadwork.  Beautiful, outrageous, artistic and insane.

Caris smiles.  “Endelle, you’ve always made me laugh.”

Endelle loses some of her vintage abrasiveness for a moment.  “Hey, that’s my job.  Writing is hard work.  I try to make it easier for you.”

Building from Ashes - Release in 3 days

This is just a reminder for those who follow this series/author. I can't put up my review until the book is released on Amazon so I can insert links to the book so you could actually buy it. For reasons that I am still a bit confused about, she never has any pre-order links. I guess if your books are good enough (and her books are) you can do that and still be in the Top 100 Books on Amazon.

But someone has developed the rare and difficult ability to drain a goddess of her powers, and Quinn is a target. With the world thinking Nick has gone rogue (whatever that means) and that Quinn is influenced by “family ties” she didn’t know she had, keeping themselves safe while working to find the enemy proves harder each day.

But not as hard as denying their hearts…

Characterfest #19 with Daniel by Natalie-Nicole Bates

Please welcome Daniel and Natalie-Nicole Bates

Natalie-Nicole interview Daniel Tremont from SEE ME

I’m thrilled to send some time with Daniel Tremont, hero of my new paranormal romance, SEE ME, available from Leap of Faith Publishing.

NNB: Daniel, it’s rumoured that you have eternal life. Can you tell me how this happened exactly?

DT: A long time ago, 1896, I was the unfortunate victim of a lumber mill fire—I was burned beyond recognition. I don’t really remember much except for waking up on an embalming table with the most beautiful brown eyes staring down at me. That’s only the beginning of it all, though.

NNB: Did you recognize these beautiful brown eyes?

DT: Of course, it was Charlotte Hopkins, daughter of the local undertaker. She was more than just a beautiful pair of brown eyes, she was…magic. What she did for me that day, was love.
NNB: Is it true that you are a Funeral Director?

DT: I have been, and I will be again. I’m much better with the dead than the living.

NNB: So, you’ve been in love with Charlotte all of these years?

Characterfest interview #18 with Theo and Tara Fox Hall

A huge THANK YOU to Bitten by Paranormal Romance for having me here today at Characterfest!
Here with us today to answer a few questions is Theo O’Connor of Tara Fox Hall’s Promise Me series.

THEO: Before we begin, I would appreciate you keeping the questions aimed toward me, not my employer, Danial Racklan.

Q: In your relationships with others, Theo, how are you different with family than you are with friends? Why?

THEO: I lost my family when I was attacked and turned into a werecougar in Adirondack State Park close to ten years ago. I don’t have any other family now, other than Danial, and some of his other bodyguards, who are my good friends.

THEO: I trust no one besides Danial, and the other guards he’s had for a few years. In my experience, you can’t trust someone you don’t know, and you can’t really know someone you just met. First impressions are useful, yes. I can always tell what new hires we have that are going to be long term, and which aren’t going to be able to take the constant violence that being a vampire’s guard entails. I’m not as disposed to trust as I used to be. Trust has to be earned.

Characterfest inteview # 17 with Jordan K Rose

Please welcome author Jordan K Rose

Laurie, thanks so much for having us on Bitten by Paranormal Romance. We’re really looking forward to meeting your readers. After some debate we’ve decided that Lucia will interview Vittorio for Characterfest. I’ll apologize up front if he’s a bit gruff and this turns out to be more of a monologue. He’s been cranky lately.

*Vittorio grumbles*

“Hi.” *Lucia waves* “I’m Lucia Dico—“

“Della Caccia,” Vittorio interrupts. “Our last name is Della Caccia.”

*Lucia grimaces.* “Right. I forget. Sorry. I haven’t used that last name in this lifetime. Jordan, you know he’s pretty sensitive about the last name issue.” *rubs Vittorio’s arm*

“Right. I do recall that coming up in another interview.”

“Jordan, I’m sure if you spoke to your husband he’d feel the same.” Vittorio glances from me to Lucia.

*smiles* “Right. I’m sure he would want me to use the proper last name. Lucia, why don’t you ask those questions we discussed before Vittorio turns this into a debate?”

“I’d love to.” *turns to face Vittorio* “So, Vittorio, please tell us a little something about yourself.” *smiles intently at Vittorio*

*sighs and raises an eyebrow*

Characterfest interview #15 with Emma Martian by Lynn Rush

Everyone please welcome Emma and Lynn Rush!

Hey everyone! Emma Martin here. Lynn Rush writes about my life as a Vampire Hunter in Violet Midnight (Official release date TODAY!).
I’ve made a bunch of appearances on Lynn’s blog with something I dreamed up called the Four Word Interview.
It was just a random thought one day, but it’s kind of taken off, so I thought I’d interview Lynn.
But she said no because she’s pretty boring, so she turned the tables and interviewed me.
The gist of it is…Four questions only, each question can only be four words or less. And get this…the answers can only be four words.
It’s harder than you think…
So, anyway. Here’s our interview:

Lynn Rush: Favorite time of day….
Emma Martin: Just before dawn.

LR: Fondest childhood memory is . . .
EM: Hugs from my dad

LR: Favorite food to eat . . .
EM: *rolls eyes*  Don’t eat, remember?

LR: If granted one wish. . .
EM: UGH (wait—does that count as a word?) *Lynn nods*  Somewhat normal life.

She always forgets I don’t eat **shakes head** Those writers, they are a little…spacey.
So, here’s the deal. I want to give away a copy of my book to a commenter…so, leave your *four word* answers to these questions in the comments, okay? I’ll draw a name from all who enter to win an autographed copy of Violet Midnight. If you’re not in the US or Canada, I’ll send you an electronic copy of the book. You can have it electronically signed through Kindlegraph, though!  J
Happy Answering….

Driven to write, Lynn Rush often sees her characters by closing her eyes watching their story unfold in her mind. All of Rush’s books are dedicated to Lynn, her namesake, and a portion of the proceeds benefits cancer research and awareness.
Rush holds a degree in psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University and a master's degree from the University of Iowa. Originally from Minneapolis, Rush currently enjoys living in the Arizona sunshine by road biking nearly 100 miles per week with her husband of 16 years and jogging with her two loveable Shetland Sheep dogs.

Book Blurb for Violet Midnight:
Let the Hunt begin….
Blending in with her college co-eds proves difficult for vampire Hunter, Emma Martin, considering the mystical tattoo on her wrist glows whenever Vamps are near. And after three months of silence, the glow is back with a vengeance.
Jake Cunningham witnesses Emma, a violet-eyed beauty, using unimaginable powers to fight off a fanged creature. Finally, after two years of searching, he may have found out what he’s become—a Hunter, like Emma.
Thankful for an ally in the fight against the Vamps, Emma finds hope and comfort in Jake’s arms. As she learns more about her new love’s family and its dark heritage, she may be forced not only to hunt them but to sacrifice her life to save Jake’s soul.
“Rush hooked me from page one! Fast-paced, gripping, this tale of vampire hunters is full of action and suspense. A great read! Buffy had better watch out…Emma Martin is one hunter to watch!” -Cynthia Eden, National Best-selling Author
