Carrie Ann: Hello everyone!!! I’m so happy to be here to help out with the Character Fest. I love this blog. Now, I was lucky enough to steal Matt Cooper from my latest novel, CHARMED SPIRITS, and let me tell you, H.O.T.

Matt: Aww, thanks Carrie Ann

Carrie Ann: *blushes* Ah, yeah, I didn’t know you were standing there. *cough*

Matt: I’m always around when a woman says I’m H.O.T

Carrie Ann: *clears throat* Well then, um, yeah. So, I guess we should start.

Matt: I suppose we should.

Carrie Ann: So, are you excited that yours and Jordan’s story is now out?

Matt: Yes and no. I mean, I love the fact that people get to read about why I love that woman, but I like my secrets.

Carrie Ann: Oh, I know. You and your secrets.

Matt: *raises a brow* You’re not about to spill the beans are you?

Carrie Ann: *rolls eyes* I think I’ve lasted this long, we’re good. If anyone wants to know, they’ll just have to read it.

Matt: Sneaky.

Carrie Ann: That’s me. Now, tell me about Holiday, Montana.

Matt: Well, it’s my town. My home. Everyone knows each other’s business, well most of it, anyway. But we’re a little different I guess because we know the holiday paranormals are real.

Carrie Ann: Like Jordan.

Matt: Yep, my little witch.

Carrie Ann: Awww

Matt: Yes, Jordan is a witch, and we’re just not getting to the point where she’s comfortable with herself.

Carrie Ann: I know she had a tough time of it.

Matt: *glares* You don’t know the half of it. I’m so disappointed in the say some people acted. It’s getting better now, but we had to go through hell to make it through the worst.

Carrie Ann: I know, I’m sorry, Matt. But you and Jordan are doing great now, right?

Matt: Yep, I love that woman.

Carrie Ann: Awww. Okay, so what is it I hear about you and tables.

Matt: *blushes* Um, where did you hear that?

Carrie Ann: Well, it is in the blurb of the book. *cough*

Matt: *rolls eyes* Yes, I like tables for certain…activities. Jordan likes it.

Carrie Ann: I would imagine so!

Matt: *smiles*

Carrie Ann: So, what’s next for you?

Matt: Well, Christmas is right around the corner so we’re enjoying that. But I’m a little worried about my brother, Justin.

Carrie Ann: Oh, don’t worry, I’ll take care of him.

Matt: If you’re sure…

Carrie Ann: Oh, I am. You just take care of Jordan.

Matt: *grins* Oh, I will. I will.

Matt Cooper walked into the hardware store in a daze, his body going through the motions while his mind tumbled in an array of memories, anger, and longing.

She’s back.

Jordan Cross, his high school love and childhood best friend…back. She’d left without a word, leaving a mess of dashed possibilities and his broken heart in her wake.

But, Jesus, she looked even better than before.

Her green eyes seemed darker, more haunted or sorrowful, than before, like she’d fought more than she’d bargained for and was still losing. Her hair was longer now, very glossy sable locks falling to the middle of her back in careless waves. He’d had loved to run his fingers through it when they sat at the lakeside watching the sun set.

Yes, they’d been that clichéd in high school, but he’d loved her.

Loved.

Past tense. Because he didn’t love her anymore. She’d left him. Left him with his problems, his everything and yet nothing.

Matt shook his head and went behind the counter, trying to ignore the dull pain in his temples. Darn witch, she shouldn’t be here. He didn’t want to think about her. Didn’t want to deal with it all over when she left again.
