Characterfest interview # 24 with Veiron by Felicity E Heaton

Please welcome Verion and  Felicity E Heaton

I’m here today to catch up with a very special man. Actually, he’s more of an angel, but we don’t really use that word around him because he was forced to fall into the Devil’s service and become one of his Hell’s angels, so he gets twitchy and a little bit mad whenever anyone mentions that word in relation to him.

I have permission from his heroine to pay him a visit today, which is a good thing because Erin can get seriously jealous when any woman so much as flicks a glance at her smexy man! Totally understandable. He’s a lethally hot warrior after all. Extremely swoon-worthy and the ultimate bad boy.

I’m in an apartment building in London. It’s a tasteful brick affair and we’re on the top floor, where there are only two flats. The corridor is stark white and minimalist, and I know that the apartment I’m approaching looks similar on the inside, mixing clean smooth walls with an open ceiling that reveals industrial pipes.

I flex my fingers to settle my nerves and then knock. It has been a while since I last saw Veiron, and I’m eager to catch up with him.

The pale door eases open to reveal the six-foot-plus immense slice of smexy himself. His dark eyes pin me and I swallow, basking in his beauty. His dark red eyebrows pinch together.

“You’re looking at me like I’m prime steak,” he says, his deep baritone doing strange things to my insides. “If Erin were here, she’d be getting testy right about now.”

“Oh, she’s out?” Why does that thought please me so much? I get Veiron alone. Heavens. “What a shame.”

A sexy grin tugs at his lips. “Yeah, right.”

He steps back and even that small action makes me sigh as his muscles shift beneath his tight black clothing. I flick a glance at his crimson hair. It was beautiful when it was longer but he’s pulling off the shorter style, and it has already grown to his shoulders.

“No lucky leather thong?” I reach up and twirl the short ponytail at the back of his head and he smiles again.

“Erin doesn’t like it.” He catches my hand and presses a kiss to the back of it. “Now, we have an interview to do, don’t we?”

I nod dumbly. His hand is hot against mine, fingers pressing in deliciously. He kicks the apartment door closed and leads me inside. The apartment is open plan, with a huge bank of windows opposite me and the bright pink kitchen to the left. It was Erin’s bachelorette pad originally. Veiron leads me to the living area on the right and releases my hand. He sprawls out on the black chaise longue, melting into the midnight velvet fabric, and stretches his arms up and settles his hands against the back of his head.

Characterfest interview #6 with Terek and Gabrielle Bisset

Please welcome Trek and Gabrielle Bisset !

Thanks to the lovely bloggers at Bitten By Paranormal Romance for having me over today to interview my newest hero, Terek, from Blood Spirit (Sons of Navarus #3)! It's great to be here.

Gabrielle:  Hello, Terek. Thanks for joining me here today.

Terek: My pleasure, Gabrielle. Vasilije told me about this place when I mentioned to him that you were interviewing me at a blog with the word Bitten in the title. He seems to have liked it.

Gabrielle:  That's good since he's returning later this month to be interviewed, along with Saint. If you'd like to join them, you're more than welcome.

Terek: (raises his eyebrows and grins)  Three vampires at once? Feeling brave, Gabrielle?

Gabrielle:  (blushes)  You know me, Terek. Plus, with you and Saint around, I know I'll be in good hands.

Terek:  True, but remember, we're vampires, after all, even if we are your vampires.

Dionysus, God of Wine and Ecstasy

Tina: “Today I’m interviewing a god, and frankly, I’m a little nervous. I mean, how do you address a god? Would it be something like “Oh, God!” or maybe “Dear God!”? It’s not every day I speak to a god. Maybe I’ll just play it saf, and address him the way his servants do. *clears her throat* Oh, mighty God Dionysus, it’s a pleasure having you here today.”

Dionysus *unleashed a devastating grin*: “You can call me Dio, sweetie.”

Tina *blushes down to the roots of her hair*: “Mmm, Dio, I now understand why you have such a reputation with women.”

Dio: “Call it what you want, sweetie, but I simply love women, no matter what shape or form they come in. There’s nothing more enticing than a woman’s body: curves, hair, scent, skin … hmm, just thinking about it makes me—”

Tina *interrupts hastily*: “Yes, yes, I understand. So, I hear that the goddess Hera played a little trick on you recently. Can you tell us a little about that?”

Dio: “Hera, that fu… excuse my Greek … my friendly stepmother. She’s not very fond of me. Guess I can’t really blame her. I’m a constant reminder of Zeus’ infidelity. Not that I’m the only one, but for some reason I’m always on her darn radar.”

Tina: “I feel for you.”

Dio: “Hera robbed me of my memory. I mean, what woman would do such a thing? You be the judge. But what she did to me was downright nasty.”

Tina: “I hear a lot of interesting things happened as a result of it.”

Dio: “Interesting? Make that humiliating. I had to work as a waiter. Can you imagine that? Me as a waiter? And of course all the other gods came to gloat and made me wait on them. Bastards!”

Tina: “But I understand that not everything was bad. There’s rumor that you’ve met someone special.”

Dio *smiles off into the distance*: “You should meet Ari. She’s lovely. So strong, so beautiful, with such a pure heart. Who could resist her? I didn’t want to see it at first, and I’m the first to admit that I treated her badly. I was such a jerk, but for Hades’ sake, I was scared shitless. I wanted her so much, I thought something was wrong with me.”

Tina: “But you came around and made it work.”

Dio: “We both did. She helped me see what’s important. It’s not chasing skirts for the rest of eternity, but it’s finding that one person who really gets you.”

Tina: “So what are your plans for the future?”

Dio: “Ari and I are gonna have a few heroes and—”

Tina *interrupts*: “Heroes? What are heroes?”

Dio: “Those are the children of a god and a mortal. We call them heroes. And *winks* we’re busy making heroes …”

Tina: “Well, in that case, I’d better not keep you any longer.”

Dio: “Appreciate it, sweetie. Hey, and if there’s ever anything you want me to do for you, just ask. After all, you wrote me the way I am, and I’m pretty darn happy.”

Dio is the star of A Scent of Greek, the second book in Tina Folsom’s Out of Olympus series. It is available for sale at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBookstore, Kobo, Google, and other online retailers.

Interviewing Foster Nash is a little intimidating. He’s not only tall, but muscular, and his eyes are the most riveting blue I’ve ever seen. He’s allowed me to interview him on his ship, the Damn You. We’re in the cargo bay, which is rather small, since his ship is used for transporting prisoners. Foster is wearing faded jeans and a blue T-shirt that cling to his body like a second skin. As he shows me around, I find it difficult to keep my eyes off his fanny, especially when his equipment belt is thick, black leather and slung low.

So, it’s said you call yourself a ruthless bastard.

Yeah.

And you go out of your way to prove it.

Yeah.

This interview isn’t going to work if you—

Why don’t you try asking open-ended questions.

(I really don’t like being reminded how to do my job and it also reminds me that Foster Nash isn’t all muscle—he’s got a brain, too.) Tell me about your career as a Runner.

A Runner is a bounty hunter. I’m now rated as a triple-platinum Runner. I’m one of only six Runners classified that high. What that means is every contract I’ve signed, I’ve delivered on.

Every single one?

Yep. When a Runner starts out he’s silver. After 100 contracts—that’s in a row, not just 100 contracts in total—that are completed he moves up to double silver.

And if he fails to deliver on a contract?

He or she starts all over.

Sounds difficult.

It is and it continues. After another 100 completed contracts he or she moves up to double silver. 100 more and he’s triple silver. Then he goes through the same with gold and finally the same with platinum. Any blown contract and the whole thing starts all over again.

All over back at silver?

Yep.

Wow. I see. But how do you know that a Runner is telling the truth? (Foster stares at me with those scary blue eyes of his for so long I almost withdraw the question.)

Because word gets around. If you lie about your rating even once, someone is going to know, and they are going to tell. Your name will be mud so fast it isn’t funny. The whole job is based on reputation.

And that’s why you have to be a ruthless bastard.

You don’t get into this line of work unless you can walk the walk. Sometimes—hell, most times—I have to be ruthless just to get the job done.

I’ve also heard you don’t apprehend women.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

I’m just repeating what I’ve heard. (I take this moment to back up toward the exit. Foster notes me doing this as nothing gets past him.)

I don’t take women because they can be trouble. Kinda like you’re being right now. (Foster’s eyes go from where I’m standing to the exit and back, like he’s judging the distance. I realize he can beat me to the door.) Calm down. (He winks) I don’t have a contract on you. Basically, I don’t contract on women because they are manipulative creatures.

So you’re easily manipulated? (As soon as the question leaves my mouth I realize I’ve basically poked the grumpy bear with a very pointed stick.)

(Foster’s eyes narrow.) I am not easily manipulated but I don’t like to listen to crying and I’m sick of women thinking they can seduce me.

(I decide to get away from this line of questioning since Foster is looking at me like he wants to cage me up just to see if I’ll cry.) What’s the most you’ve ever made on a contract?

Couple Mil or so.

Are you paid in cash or credits?

Both. It’s not an illegal job. All Runners work within the limits of the law. And most officers, be they IWOG or WAG, don’t bother to steal our packages since they can’t get the reward.

They can’t?

No. If they could it would be total chaos out here. Rather than getting the money they get a nice little medal to pin on their uniform.

Not much incentive.

Yep. It keeps things clear for Runners to deliver their packages.

You don’t call them prisoners?

No, they are called packages. I’m not sure when that tradition started but it helps to keep them in perspective.

Right, because you don’t get attached to a package whereas with a prisoner—(I stop talking when his glare goes nova.) I imagine most of your time is spent by yourself out here. What do you do while you’re transporting a package?

I read a lot. I also practice languages. I know about 20 right now. I exercise, I paint. I make sure that my mind and body are well taken care of.

Sounds kind of lonely.

I’m not lonely. I’ve also got to go. (He points at the exit and before I know it I’m on the tarmac.)

If you’d like to ask Foster Nash a question, post it here in the comments and I’ll do my best to get him to answer. Runner is the third book in the Fringe series and will release January 10, 2012.

Interview with Muriel, Princess of Hell.

Interviewer: Hello and thank you for agreeing to meet us to talk about yourself and your new book.

Muriel: You mean find out secrets about my dad.

Interviewer : Okay maybe a few, but we truly do want to know about you. Tell us about yourself.

Muriel: Well, my full name is Satana Muriel Baphomet, but you can call me Muriel. Or bitch. Although, if you try the latter, be prepared to run because I don't particularly care for it.

Interviewer: Um, I think we'll stick with Muriel. Now, you are the daughter of Lucifer, Lord of Hell, correct?

Muriel: That's my daddy. But don't ask me about my mother. I'm not talking to her at the moment, stupid old bat
.
Interviewer: But, in your newest memoir, Hell's Revenge, don't you reunite?

Muriel : I said no questions about my mother. Let's stick to nice topics okay? Ones where you get to keep your head. I'd hate to have to clean off my sword again. It takes forever to get all the blood out.

Interviewer: Right, so, tell us about your bar, Nexus. I hear you've got a karaoke machine there now to entertain your supernatural patrons.

Muriel : Oh my freaking god, sorry uncle, what a bad idea that was. I mean, have you ever heard a demon sing Locomotion, or a coven of witches croon out of key? It's a good thing my presence nullifies small magics because I'd probably not even own a bar anymore. Once the wizards started making fun of the gnarly hags, the fireballs started flying until I showed up.

Interviewer: Sounds like fun.

Muriel: Not! But enough about work. Let's talk about the yummiest men alive.

Interviewer: You would be referring to Auric and David?

Muriel: Are you doing on purpose to ignore my newest addition? Just because he's sun challenged doesn't mean you shouldn't respect him.
Interviewer: I, um, that is I wasn't aware you'd added to your arrangement.

Muriel : Aha! I knew it. You didn't even read my latest biography. Just skimmed the blurb. Well, see if I give you any juicy details now.

Auric: Muri, behave yourself.

Muriel: Make me.

Auric: Not here.

Muriel : Spoilsport. I told you I didn't want to do this interview. They always make me look like a brat.

Auric: But you are a brat.

David : A cute one though. But seriously, Muri, if she's bugging you that much, I could eat her.

Muriel : You are so my favorite right now. I'll have a surprise for you later.

Interviewer : Um, maybe we should move on to your latest e-book release. Hell's Revenge.

Muriel: Oh, it's truly a kick ass story and all true, I know kind of an oxymoron considering my who my dad is hunh? It features, moi, the most kick ass princess Hell has ever known, and of course my delicious lovers.

David : I think the interview is over.
Interviewer: So is this the last of Muriel and her antics?

Satan: Ha. Only if Hell freezes Again. Trouble does have a way of finding her. Just a chip off the old block, she is. Now if only her brother Christopher would start following in her sinful steps.
Interviewer: She has a brother?

Satan: Who cares about the anti-christ? He's boring. Now you and me, along with a bottle of wine and--

: Lucifer!

Satan: Dammit, it's the old lady. I better go. I'll corrupt you later.

Interviewer : And that concludes my interview with Muriel, Princess Of Hell. Be sure to catch her adventures detailed in her memoirs, Lucifer's Daughter, Snowballs In Hell and Hell's Revenge.

Eve is giving away all three book in this series. You can pick PDF, epub or mobi. So please leave a comment or question along with an email

October's Paranormal romance characterfest with Alex Severin and giveaway !

Interview with the Vintage Vampires
Alex Severin Interviews Vampires Vivant & Belladonna
(from the Vampire Vintage Novel Series)

ALEX  :  Good evening, Vivant and Belladonna. Thank you for taking the time to come and have a chat with me tonight.

VIVANT  :  You're very fortunate, you realize.

BELLADONNA  :  There he goes already. I apologize for Vivant's rudeness. I'm always having to do that.  Thank you, Alex. We're happy to be here.

Belladonna side-glances at Vivant and gives him the look. I decide to jump right in and ask Belladonna the first question.

ALEX  :  Belladonna, your childhood was very rural and decidedly non-Hollywood, growing up in the wilds of Oregon. Can you tell us a little about your early years?

BELLADONNA  :  Oh, sure. I love talking about the old days. I had a wonderful childhood. We were pretty poor a lot of the time but but there was always plenty love in our house. My mom spoiled us any way she could. It wouldn't be what kids these days would think of as being spoiled, but it was to us.

ALEX  :  What sort of things would she do to spoil you?

BELLADONNA  :  Doesn't seem like much in this day and age, but little things like making me and my sister new dresses, or my brother, Cal a new shirt to go to the Barn Dance at the weekend, or even baking homemade cookies.

ALEX : And you Vivant? What sort of a childhood did you have?

VIVANT : I don't remember. It was a very long time ago. Next question.

Sensing the possibility of a touchy subject, I take the hint and move on.

ALEX : I understand you were a silent movie star many moons ago, and witnessed the birth of Hollywood. Can you tell us a little about what it was like to witness The Golden Age?

A light turns on in Vivant's eyes. I know I have asked the question.

Belladonna gives me a slow smile, leans forward and whispers -

BELLADONNA : He'll go on and on for hours if you don't stop him.

Vivant sits straight up and wipes off his jacket lapel as if cleaning it of dust from days gone by. He lets the slowest smile slide across his full mouth and that hypnotic glint in his eyes draws me in as our gazes lock. I am captivated before he even speaks, awaiting his story.

VIVANT : It was the most wonderful time in history. The most incredible age I have lived in. It was...

He pauses, as if searching for the right word.

ALEX : Magic.

He smiles at me again.

VIVANT : Yes. It was magic. I was so in love with everything about that day and age and I know there will never, ever be one like it again. Everybody nowadays is so jaded. Ten year olds are jaded. It makes me sad, actually. At least it took me centuries to become that way. No one born after about 1950 has ever known the magic that I have, that we did, back then. There will never be another era like the Golden Age. And it wasn't just Hollywood's Golden Age, or even America's. It was the world's. It belonged to us all.

But before all that, I remember being in Paris. 1894, it was. Another wonderful time and place. I was among a crowd of fascinated and frightened people watching moving pictures at the unveiling of the Cinematographe.

He laughs, delighted at the memory.

VIVANT : I remember an elderly lady in the audience fainting, muttering about witchcraft, wondering if this was some sort of magic, and if the gentleman running the projection machine was a Wizard. But the old woman was right - it was magic. It will always be magic. At least to me, anyway. I'm old enough to remember being fascinated by the advent of paper!

Vivant laughs uproariously and Belladonna and I both laugh with him.

VIVANT : A little more than twenty years later, I boarded a ship to come to America, after I heard about wonderful places on the eastern coast called New York and New Jersey where they made moving pictures. I had to be a part of it. I was just born for the drama and the tensions of the movie industry where everybody is on the brink, everybody is controlling or controlled, where everybody seeks to exert their power over everyone else. Born for it, I tell you. I have lived so long and seen so much, I've seen history, I've seen things that became myths and legends. I've been part of the rise and fall of empires. And yet nothing I have witnessed, nothing I have ever experienced thrilled me or captivated me they way that Hollywood and all that it encompasses does.

Belladonna grins.

BELLADONNA : Well, that's the truth!

VIVANT : And just a few years after that, we all moved to the west, to a better climate and more daylight to make our motion pictures. Oh, and to escape that blasted Edison. He held our entire industry to ransom, you know? Controlled everything from the technology patents, right down to the film stock. But when we all fled to California to avoid his lawsuits against everybody, that was when the magic really happened. There's something about that place, about that time. And once that icon was erected in 1923 – the sign - even although it had nothing to do with pictures in the beginning, it became an international symbol of glitz and glamor and of movie magic.

Belladonna smiles as Vivant talks about her beloved Hollywood sign.

VIVANT : Pretty soon after the move to the west coast, I became a genuine movie star.

He grins at me, a one-sided sexy smile.

VIVANT : I had the time of my life. Men and women threw themselves at me night and day. I had Queens, princesses, world leaders, other movie stars, falling at my feet and begging me to fuck them all.

BELLADONNA : Language, Vivant.

VIVANT : You're a fine one to talk. You have a mouth like a Russian sailor most of the time.

BELLADONNA : Not in polite company I don't!

VIVANT : Bells, have you ever read Alex's writing? I sincerely doubt she's offended by me saying fuck.

I laugh, mostly from surprise that he's read my writing.

ALEX : No, I'm not offended at all.

BELLADONNA : I was always fascinated by Hollywood too. I would do chores around town to make enough money to buy the latest movie magazines, like Photoplay – that was my favorite. I would lie on my bed looking at all the glamorous, beautiful movie stars and dream about being like them one day. It was always my dream to be an actress. And I achieved my dream, even although nobody ever saw the damn movie, thanks to that psychotic bitch Rose.

VIVANT : Now who's using bad language?

BELLADONNA : Well, I'm still mad at her. She stole my hopes and dreams, Vivant. Her jealously destroyed my life. I actually lived my dream and made a movie with Bela Lugosi, the reason I came to Hollywood in the first place. But nobody ever saw it because of the stupid scandal she engineered that made the studio bury the movie. Nowadays, it wouldn't even merit as gossip on Perez Hilton! And she destroyed wonderful, kind men in the process too.

ALEX : What did it feel like, finally stepping on to a movie set and acting, after dreaming about it your whole life?

BELLADONNA : It was...magic. There's that word again. But it's so true. It just felt like you were part of something that was so special, you know? And I always felt the magic, even as a little girl watching the silent stars on the screen. We didn't have an actual movie theater when I was a child, in Independence, Oregon where I was born. We had to wait for the traveling picture show to come to town. It felt like we were the very last stop in the whole country, but I didn't care as long as I got to see the pictures sometime. Some of them had tents they put up to show the movies, and sometimes they would use an old abandoned train car or somebody's barn. But the surroundings disappeared for me when I heard that snap and whir of celluloid and the movie flickered to life on the screen. Actually, a lot of them didn't even have a screen – some of them used a big white bedsheet. I would just get completely caught up in the story, totally lost in the world I was watching. And I wanted to make other people feel that way, make them forget their troubles and take them out of their daily grind for a little while and bring them some joy.

Vivant rolls his eyes and Belladonna throws him a look.

BELLADONNA : What?

VIVANT : That's really why you wanted to be an actress?

BELLADONNA : You know it is.

VIVANT : Really? Personally I rather liked the idea of the money, the fame and the endless supply of blood and sex.

BELLADONNA : No, you didn't! You're such a tool, Viv. You know it was for the magic. You can't fool me. I can read your mind, remember?

VIVANT : Yeah, well, read this.

Belladonna wears a shocked look on her face, glances at me then looks away.

ALEX : Did I miss something?

BELLADONNA : It's nothing. Never mind.

She casts her eyes downward, a slight blush on her cheeks. She mumbles under her breath at Vivant.

BELLADONNA : Dirty bastard.

I shift uncomfortably in my chair and wonder what he just said, pretty certain it was about me. And Belladonna. I can feel my face start to burn and I know he's looking at me. I can feel him feeding off my reaction. He's a vampire in more ways than one, a vampire that consumes more than just blood. He thrives on reaction, on attention, on energy and he feasts on me.

VIVANT : Oh, Bells, don't be shy now. I can read your mind too. I know you want to...

BELLADONNA : Vivant! Don't say another word. You'd think as old as you are you would have learned some social graces by now. You're such a pill.

Vivant laughs.

VIVANT : Why do you slip back into that ridiculous depression vernacular when you're mad at me?

BELLADONNA : I don't know. I just do. Probably because I spent most of the 30s pissed at you!

My eyes widen and I can see a major spat developing. And I know what their fights usually end in – either a shooting or steamy sex. I decide that it may be time to beat a hasty retreat before I get myself in trouble with these two fascinating vampires.

ALEX : Well, thank you both very much for spending time with me tonight. I appreciate it.  I'll e-mail you when the interview is up on Bitten by Paranormal Romance, Belladonna.

BELLADONNA : Yes, do that. And keep in touch.

I reach out to shake her hand and she thanks me too. I offer my hand to Vivant; he takes it in his and places a soft kiss on the back, looks into my eyes with that stare like sparks in darkness.

I close the door behind and pause before I walk away. I smile. I smile because I know that I will see these two enchanting creatures again someday.

Interview with a prince of darkness – Aleksandr from Heart of Darkness

I’m back! Have you all missed me since my interview with Veiron from my Her Angel romance series?

I expect you might have read my interview with him earlier in the month and therefore know me, but I’ll introduce myself again. I’m a paranormal romance author and I’ve been writing since 2005, and turned indie in 2006. In that time I have written over forty stories under the names Felicity Heaton and F E Heaton. Most of my stories are released under my full name, but I write the Vampires Realm series as F E Heaton. My paranormal romances are usually focused on vampires and werewolves, but I do also write other shape-shifters like black panthers, and also demons and witches, and a whole bunch of sexy angels.

Now I get to paint a pretty portrait of the vampire I’ll be interviewing today so you can picture him in your mind.

Aleksandr is born of royal blood, the eldest son of the Nemov bloodline that rules all vampires in Europe. At over eight hundred years old, he appears to be in his mid thirties by human standards. He’s an imposing man, of broad build and tall stature, as handsome as a prince should be, and quick witted and intelligent. With his dark short hair and piercing steel-grey eyes, and sensual mouth, he can get any woman’s attention but is very focused when he pursues the one he’s set his sights on. He has old-world charm in spades, can waltz his way into your heart without a single misstep, and has the kind of honour that drives him to do all in his power to protect the object of his affections. He’s dangerous, deadly, and has a track record of fighting vampire hunters that is four hundred years long. When provoked, his eyes burn red and his fangs emerge. It’s the only warning a vampire hunter gets before he meets Death a few seconds later.

FH: I have Aleksandr here with me today to talk about his book, Heart of Darkness. Firstly, can you tell us a little about yourself?

ALEKSANDR: I am Aleksandr Nemov, former heir prince of the Nemov household, the royal family of European vampires. I disinherited myself and abdicated the throne, leaving it to my younger brother Vasiliy to inherit upon our father’s death, so I could pursue the vampire hunter who murdered my sister and wipe his progeny from the Earth. I have spent the past four centuries of my eight hundred years in this world seeking out all related to the man who took my sister’s life and bestowing justice upon them.

FH: Was it really necessary to break ties with your family so permanently in order to purse her killer and his offspring?

ALEKSANDR: Absolutely. The Nemov household is responsible for leading vampire society into a brighter future. They were the ones who discovered that we could attain humanity through limiting our kills and because of them, vampires were able to slowly evolve from little more than mindless bloodthirsty beasts into people who could function socially and blend amongst humans. My family teaches pacifism. What I desired to do went against everything they stood for. I had to sever all ties with them in order to protect their cause and not bloody it with my actions. It was painful, but necessary.

FH: That seems quite sad to me. You sacrificed your life in order to pursue your sister’s killer and protect your people from his entire family line. Isn’t it dangerous too? You mentioned about gaining humanity through limiting kills. Surely what you’re doing goes against that?

ALEKSANDR: Unfortunately it does. I have killed thousands since beginning my vendetta. Hunters from that man’s bloodline as well as others. I lose a little of my humanity each year. The darkness is rising within me and sometimes I fear that I will lose myself to the black abyss within my heart and devolve into a beast.

FH: It’s not all doom and gloom for you though, is it? In Heart of Darkness, you meet Elise. How did you meet and how did you feel about them initially?

ALEKSANDR: Elise came upon me in Prague after I had killed a female vampire hunter. Butchered might be a more appropriate word. The darkness had me in its grip but just the sound of her voice and the sight of her made it recede faster than it had ever done before. She fought me and I found I didn’t have the heart to fight her back. I was surprised I could even bring myself to defend against her attacks. She was beautiful, breathtaking in every way. Not just looks. It was her strength, how she fought me, her skill. All of it combined to still my heart and steal my breath. I ended up beneath her, pinned against icy ground that couldn’t chill me while I was looking at her. I knew then that I had to have her.

FH: Your relationship with Elise is complicated because you don’t exactly start out on the right foot. You didn’t exactly make it easy on her, or yourself, did you?

ALEKSANDR: No, I can see that now. I had thought of nothing but hunting for four hundred years and before then I had thought only of bedding whatever woman took my fancy at court back at the palace. I was what your readers may affectionately call a rake. A man with only the pursuit of satisfying empty lusts on his mind. I made my pursuit of Elise into a game, a hunt for her, desiring that she come to my bed and behave as the women at court had around me centuries before. It did not take me long to realise that modern women were completely at odds with the women I had known back then, and my pursuit of Elise was only made more complicated by the fact she is a guard. A strong female, with a strong mind and a strong distaste for being made to feel inferior and weak. My actions towards her just served to push her further away from me at first. Eventually I adjusted enough to modern society and learned enough about Elise that I realised my mistake and also that I needed more than just her in my bed each day. I needed her love. I wanted her to save me from the darkness within my heart.

FH: That’s so sweet. I’m glad you realised in the nick of time that you were being an egotistical womanising rake. *smiles* Can you tell us about what happened in your story?

ALEKSANDR: I came to Prague pursuing the final member of the murderer’s bloodline. We had chased each other for long years, clashing at times but never dealing the killing blow. When I met Elise, I wanted to stay around her. She mesmerised me and I felt compelled to know more about her, to convince her to be my lover. I did the one thing I hadn’t done in the four centuries since my hunt began. I entered the house of a bloodline and sought their assistance. I had remained outside society because I didn’t want to involve them. My pursuit of Elise saw me break that rule, and my presence placed her family in grave danger.

FH: How has life been since the events that happened and brought you together?

ALEKSANDR: I am learning temperance again. We have remained at the mansion in Prague and Elise has continued her duty as a guard. She walks with me sometimes in the city at night, teaching me more about it, and I learn more about her at the same time. I am fortunate to have my sweet Elise. Without her, I would not have survived the darkness. She risked everything for me. I dote on her when she lets me, which is not often. She prefers me to teach her new fighting techniques to fine jewels and dresses, but I am learning to accept that. The darkness within me is beginning to fade but it will be long decades before I have completely mastered it again. Elise fusses over me because of it and I find myself unable to stop her. In fact, I secretly enjoy it... but do not tell her that. I fear she would stop if she knew.

FH: We won’t. I’ll end on something a little more fun. Describe yourself in one word?

ALEKSANDR: Honourable.

FH: That does suit you. What’s your favourite colour?

ALEKSANDR: Red... I like to see it emerge in Elise’s eyes whenever I excite her a little too much.

FH: A little bit TMI there.

ALEKSANDR: What is this TMI?

FH: You’re so antiquated sometimes. It means too much information. Favourite smell?

ALEKSANDR: Freshly fallen snow. It smells like blood.

FH: I know that. I should have guessed. Favourite city?

ALEKSANDR: It would have been my home city in Russia once, but Prague has a certain charm about it. It is beautiful and old, and I am starting to feel I do not want to leave it for a long time to come.

FH: I think Elise will be glad to hear that. Favourite past time?

ALEKSANDR: Training Elise. You have to see it for yourself. The woman is so graceful and strong, but it is her dedication that always astounds me. She will train for hours, honing skills that I have taught her and perfecting her moves. I often sit out halfway through the session and let Andrej take over. There is only so much beating a man’s pride can take. It is nice to watch Andrej suffer defeat at her hands too.

FH: Thank you for meeting with me today and chatting. Is there anything else that you’d like to add?

ALEKSANDR: Thank you for interviewing me. I am looking forward to seeing your interview with my sweet Elise too so I can read what she says about me. I hope that readers have enjoyed this interview as much as I have.

Biography:
Felicity Heaton is a romance author writing as both Felicity Heaton and F E Heaton. She is passionate about penning paranormal tales full of vampires, witches, werewolves, angels and shape-shifters, and has been interested in all things preternatural and fantastical since she was just a child. Her other passion is science-fiction and she likes nothing more than to immerse herself in a whole new universe and the amazing species therein. She used to while away days at school and college dreaming of vampires, werewolves and witches, or being lost in space, and used to while away evenings watching movies about them or reading gothic horror stories, science-fiction and romances.

Having tried her hand at various romance genres, it was only natural for her to turn her focus back to the paranormal, fantasy and science-fiction worlds she enjoys so much. She loves to write seductive, sexy and strong vampires, werewolves, witches, angels and alien species. The worlds she often dreams up for them are vicious, dark and dangerous, reflecting aspects of the heroines and heroes, but her characters also love deeply, laugh, cry and feel every emotion as keenly as anyone does. She makes no excuses for the darkness surrounding them, especially the paranormal creatures, and says that this is their world. She’s just honoured to write down their adventures.
