Reviewed by: Emi

When led into the world of her stories, Bryn finds her secret desires hidden in the darkness and behind every door.
Every day we encounter doors. Some of these doors are open to us and some of them are closed, but when we pass through any door, a different truth or mystery lies beyond the threshold.

The night Bryn is pulled into a world of her own stories by a shadowy being, her reality is changed forever. Souls and danger, hauntingly beautiful witches, sexy and dangerous vampires, a soldier with a dying wish; she knows that each door leads to a story and to outcomes she can't control, but in order to return home, Bryn must complete a set of tasks for the enigmatic and strangely sensual Darkness.

With four stories to enter, four items to retrieve, Bryn takes part in plot points so out of character that she almost loses herself in the tales she's written. More than once she questions her sanity and curses herself for creating such perilous realities, but she always remains focused on her goal; the creation of the fifth story.

Characterfest inteview # 17 with Jordan K Rose

Please welcome author Jordan K Rose

Laurie, thanks so much for having us on Bitten by Paranormal Romance. We’re really looking forward to meeting your readers. After some debate we’ve decided that Lucia will interview Vittorio for Characterfest. I’ll apologize up front if he’s a bit gruff and this turns out to be more of a monologue. He’s been cranky lately.

*Vittorio grumbles*

“Hi.” *Lucia waves* “I’m Lucia Dico—“

“Della Caccia,” Vittorio interrupts. “Our last name is Della Caccia.”

*Lucia grimaces.* “Right. I forget. Sorry. I haven’t used that last name in this lifetime. Jordan, you know he’s pretty sensitive about the last name issue.” *rubs Vittorio’s arm*

“Right. I do recall that coming up in another interview.”

“Jordan, I’m sure if you spoke to your husband he’d feel the same.” Vittorio glances from me to Lucia.

*smiles* “Right. I’m sure he would want me to use the proper last name. Lucia, why don’t you ask those questions we discussed before Vittorio turns this into a debate?”

“I’d love to.” *turns to face Vittorio* “So, Vittorio, please tell us a little something about yourself.” *smiles intently at Vittorio*

*sighs and raises an eyebrow*

Characterfest interview #15 with Emma Martian by Lynn Rush

Everyone please welcome Emma and Lynn Rush!

Hey everyone! Emma Martin here. Lynn Rush writes about my life as a Vampire Hunter in Violet Midnight (Official release date TODAY!).
I’ve made a bunch of appearances on Lynn’s blog with something I dreamed up called the Four Word Interview.
It was just a random thought one day, but it’s kind of taken off, so I thought I’d interview Lynn.
But she said no because she’s pretty boring, so she turned the tables and interviewed me.
The gist of it is…Four questions only, each question can only be four words or less. And get this…the answers can only be four words.
It’s harder than you think…
So, anyway. Here’s our interview:

Lynn Rush: Favorite time of day….
Emma Martin: Just before dawn.

LR: Fondest childhood memory is . . .
EM: Hugs from my dad

LR: Favorite food to eat . . .
EM: *rolls eyes*  Don’t eat, remember?

LR: If granted one wish. . .
EM: UGH (wait—does that count as a word?) *Lynn nods*  Somewhat normal life.

She always forgets I don’t eat **shakes head** Those writers, they are a little…spacey.
So, here’s the deal. I want to give away a copy of my book to a commenter…so, leave your *four word* answers to these questions in the comments, okay? I’ll draw a name from all who enter to win an autographed copy of Violet Midnight. If you’re not in the US or Canada, I’ll send you an electronic copy of the book. You can have it electronically signed through Kindlegraph, though!  J
Happy Answering….

Review: Reawakened by Carrie Pulkinen

Title: Reawakened
Author: Carrie Pulkinen
Source: Author Request
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Length: Novel
Release Date : September 13, 2012
Reviewer: Jasmyn

Her magic has been reawakened. But will her heart let her follow her destiny?

Jules Hume lives in a world where magic is a myth and supernatural creatures are fiction. Or so she thinks. Her boyfriend Ian would have to disagree. When Jules discovers the man of her dreams is not only a vampire, but a vampire king who's tasked with saving the world from a demon attack, life as she knows it ends. Can she accept her fate and take her place by Ian's side as ruler of the paranormal world? Or will she close her mind and her heart to the chance at love and adventure?

I loved Jules Hume.  She was a strong single mom - raised her daughter by herself - and had long ago decided that she could make it on her own and didn't need a man.  She had sworn off love until she met Ian.  Ian was a bit of a mystery, working odd hours, unearthly beautiful, and undeniably appealing.  Jules is drawn to Ian and finds herself breaking the no need for love rule, but there is a good reason behind this....but I can't tell you or I might ruin the surprise.

My only real complaint about this book was with how easily Jules accepted the fact that Ian is a vampire.  I don't think any person in their right mind would be able to just move on and live with that information the way Jules does, but then she is a special woman.  There is a minor secondary romance between Jules' daughter and Ian's friend that at times added to the story, but at times it also drew too much attention away from the main characters.  Parts of this story moved a bit fast for my taste, but most of it was drawn out just enough to have to turn the next page to find out what happened.

This is a short story. You could enjoy a long coffee and the story for dessert.

It includes heart-stopping sexual scenes, anal sex and the use of sex toys. Don't proceed beyond this point if hot love scenes offend you.
No vampires were harmed in the making of this novel, but one gargoyle did meet a dusty ending.

Charcterfest interview #13 with Domonic by Leigh Savage

Everyone please welcome Domonic!

Hello everyone I’m getting ready to interview Domonic Asante from Angel of Death who may I say was a very handsome human and now that he’s a vampire he’s simply divine.  It’s a perfect night to interview a vampire with the full moon outside.  I’m sitting in a small dark room and growing impatient tapping my nails on the table just as I hear the door shut looking up I see Domonic seated across from me so suddenly that my heart skipped a beat and the most beautiful golden eyes staring at me and I felt all the tension drain from my body.

Leigh:  I clear my throat.  “It’s nice to see you in person.  I know many of your fans are looking forward to finding out more about you.”

Domonic:  “It’s my pleasure, Leigh.”

Leigh:  “First, tell me a little bit about your life before you met Mika?”

Domonic:  “Well if it was before I’d met Mika I’d have you in my bed by now.”  He smiled slyly.

Leigh:  A blush ran up my neck to my cheeks, “You’re certainty sure of yourself.”

Domonic:  “Before Mika I had a different woman whenever I wanted; after all I was the most eligible bachelor in the city.”

Charterfest interview # 12 with Charlene A. Wilson

Please welcome Charlene and .... Dang!  It looks like she brought the whole gang. So please read on. LOL.

Hi, I’m Charlene A. Wilson.  I’m always thrilled when I get to participate on Bitten by Paranormal Romance.  My characters look forward to being a part the activities…partly because I let them just be themselves.  I find I get more out of them if I give them a topic and sit back to see what happens…

~ * ~

Cole enters the den and stops short as heavy tension hits him.  He curses his ability read emotion.  Thick waves of hate, concern, arrogance, and nervousness raked through him.  He scanned those in attendance; Vincent at the wide picture window, square jaw set; James seated in the dark leather winged chair, elbows on his knees, thumbs and fingers steepled; Elaina patting the wall-sized bar counter, sending several glances to Dressen who appeared unaffected by it all, lounged comfortably on the over-stuffed sofa, arm resting on the back cushion.

Elaina: *quickly pours a drink and brings it to Cole* *whispers* Charlene really wanted Lord Dressen here for this post?

Cole:  *accepts drink*  Actually, I was under the impression that I’d be the one to be interviewed for the CharacterFest

Dressen: *crosses his legs*  I’d say she knows who the most driven of her characters is.  Yes, I heard you.

Touch of the Demon (Kara Gillian #5) - Diana Rowland

Exceptional Urban Fantasy with elements of Paranormal Romance

Touch of the Demon

Diana Rowland

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

NOTE/DISCLAIMER: This is the 5th book in an exceptional series that I highly recommend so obviously I would stress that you read the other 4 books prior to this one. (all of which are exceptional reading, no bad novels in this series). Additionally, I do NOT read books about the occult, the summoning and such in these novels is more akin to a science and the demons are denizens of another world who can only travel to this world with the help of "summoners". I thought I should mention that to anyone like myself that tend to avoid the occult. I was furnished this ARC by the author unconditionally.

Characterfest interview #11 with Emily by Pauline Holyoak

Please welcome Emily and Barbra!

Award – Winning, Canadian Author: Pauline Holyoak…Merryweather Lodge – Malevolent Spirit, Book 2. A great read for the Halloween season!

I am a dreamer and lover of fiction. I grew up in a coal mining village in Southeast England, lovingly nicknamed “The place that time forgot.” I immigrated to Canada when I was twenty one, in search of adventure and a new life. I live in Alberta, with my sports crazy husband, adorable Sheltie dog and cantankerous ginger cat. I am the proud mother of two grown children and one grandchild, on the way. I have spent the past 25 years writing articles, editorials, sort stories and books. My trilogy, although a work of fiction, was inspired by my own experiences at a remote little cottage near Stonehenge.

Interviewer: Good day reader. My name is Barbra Banister. I am a staff writer at the Salisbury Sun. I am here at Merryweather Lodge to interview Emily Fletcher, a young Canadian woman who has come here to visit her aunt.

Barbra: Ms. Fletcher, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what brings you here?

Review Destiny Calls by Lydia Michaels

Title: Destiny Calls (The Order of the Vampyres, #3)
Author: Lydia Michaels
Source: Author request
Genre: Paranormal romance
Length: Novel (approx 372 pgs)
Date published: October 11 by Siren Publishing

After making the ultimate sacrifice in order to save his perfect brother and mate, Cain Hartzler’s patience with Destiny has grown thin. Resigned to an eternity spent alone, Cain decides it’s time to choose his own Destiny once and for all. But every choice he makes holds a greater consequence than the last.

There is only so much an immortal heart can take, and once Destiny Santos grabs hold of Cain’s, he is changed forever. Cain’s ever-confident bad-boy reputation is shaken to the core by this mere mortal, and he will do anything to have her, but another female has set her heart on Cain, and he must make an impossible choice once again.

A storm unlike any other is coming, The Order is changing, and passion will burn hotter than ever before when Cain Hartzler is finally pushed too far. There is no escaping Destiny when she calls!

So, I got to revisit my Amish Vampires and I just have to say that I KNEW that Cain's story was going to be the best so far, and I was right! I found Lydia Michaels' way with words were just as magical in Destiny Calls as her two previous installments of The Order of Vampyre series. She knows how to paint a picture with words without losing the plot of the story. I don't think I can praise her writing style enough!

Cain and Destiny run the show in this one. While there are a couple of side-stories going on the main focus is on the Cain and Destiny's relationship. When they came together it was probably some of the steamiest sex scenes I've read in a while. Their sexual compatibility is off the charts.

There are some bumps a long the way, but it makes their happily ever after that much better! And, wow, once again I am waiting to find out what happens in the next Order of the Vampyres. There was a huge twist at the end (with one of the minor characters) that has me all in knots! I can't wait!

Do yourself a favor pick up this series, it is absolutely wonderful!

Book promo/giveaway International Gateway to Hell by

Gateway to Hell is published by Musa Publishing

Blurb:
Zeta will protect the one she loves, even if it means living in Hell.
Mastering a unique power was much safer for Zeta Kosmos with a mentor to help her along. Now that he’s disappeared, Zeta must continue alone with her calling—closing Gateways to Hell.

Daniel Richards is in the family business—Warding supernatural evil from causing havoc on humans. As such, he’s only interested in the safety of one-night stands. Until Zeta. This bad boy now wants a long, lasting relationship.

But Zeta can’t let go of her past, nor can she ignore the secret demonic threats against Daniel’s life. She’d rather fight demonic spawn and be dragged into Hell than allow anything happen to him. Can Daniel convince her to stay? Will she have to pay the ultimate price?

Excerpt:

Suddenly, the air in the warehouse lit up like a Christmas tree before being sucked into a hole of darkness, taking with it the blue swirls. It was like it crumpled in on itself.

Then, it was dark. Daniel blinked, adjusting his eyes. The day had come and gone, but they hadn’t noticed, what with the illumination from the gateway and Zeta.

Daniel glanced at his father, and as one they rushed through the door, towards her.

“Zeta?” He touched her shoulder as he crouched next to her.

Nothing. No response. Her eyes were now closed. No light shone from them or from her. Her hair now appeared limp and lifeless, her skin pale without the rosy patches he had noticed earlier.

His heart slammed into his chest. God, don’t let her be dead.

As if reading his thoughts, Mike felt for her pulse. He nodded. “Slow, but steady.”

Daniel let out a gush of air in relief. He reached out and touched her check with the back of his hand. Her skin was silky smooth and soft but cold. She looked fragile, but she had just got rid of six Zell Demons, almost single-handedly. She was bound to be wiped out.

She had proved to him she was a warrior, all right.

“We should get her back to base,” his dad said.

Daniel nodded and handed his weapons over. They didn’t say a word as Daniel lifted Zeta into his arms. She felt light, and he knew from her self-mocking earlier, she wasn’t. Right now, it was almost like she floated to him.

Could it be an aspect of the gateway? Some residual energy?

He carried her to the truck, gently placing her in the back seat, covering her with a blanket, before jumping in next to her. His dad would drive. There was no way he would be able to concentrate.
No way he could leave her alone. She’d done more than her part. It was time someone looked after her, and he had a feeling that usually didn’t happen. How did she come to be alone with no one to watch her back? The thought irked him and he wondered why. He knew of Warders that liked to work on their own.

Was it because she was a woman? No, female Warders, like his cousin, could hold their own. Was it because it was Zeta?

Daniel pushed the thoughts away as he pulled Zeta against him, making her as comfortable as he could for the half hour drive back to their base. Somehow he doubted she would recover in that time.

Dread ran over him. Would she recover at all?

Characterfest interview #10 with Phaeton by Jillian Stone

Please welcome Phaeton with Jillian Stone

Jillian Stone
Bitten by Paranormal Romance Characterfest
The Seduction of Phaeton Black
The Moonstone and Miss Jones

Title: Interview with an Antihero: Phaeton Black, Paranormal Investigator

Jillian: You are the most misunderstood character I have ever written. Why is that?

Phaeton: I suspect it’s because you wrote me in the fine tradition of the Byronic hero. To quote Lord Macaulay, he is a “man proud, moody, cynical, with defiance on his brow, and misery in his heart, a scorner of his kind, implacable in revenge, yet...” Phaeton adds with a wink, “capable of deep and strong affection."

Jillian: May I finish the thought in Byron’s own words? “That man of loneliness and mystery, scarce seen to smile, and seldom heard to sigh.” I also gave you a strange profession, paranormal investigator––care to elaborate?

Phaeton: One might say it is my only other area of expertise after absinthe and lovemaking. A dubious sort of skill foisted upon me from birth. I am able to communicate with gorgons and goddesses, wraiths and demons, succubae and seraphim, bloodsuckers, shape shifters. I could go on...

Jillian: Why is it, do you think, that I didn’t give you special powers to battle these creatures?

Phaeton: I am a man who lives more by his wits than his brawn. I have found that one can negotiate with the darker creatures of the underworld as effectively as one can say...do business with a corporate raider. Recently, after receiving instruction from Doctor Exeter, I have learned to manipulate physical universe using potent aether, but I still rely heavily on my ability to communicate with darker side.

Jillian: In order to write a love story for you, I tossed a rather unique young woman at Phaeton Black––how are you holding up?

Phaeton: Ah yes, Miss America Jones. Enchanting, young Cajun beauty. You introduced us under rather unique circumstances. I was chasing an apparition down a dark alley off Savoy Row, and she was on the run from the filthy, thieving pirates. As I recall, she pressed a knife to my throat and demanded sex...I did my best to accommodate her.

Jillian: A rather shocking experience, wouldn’t you say?
