Aphrodite never loses, not when it comes to love.

Immortality has its perks and its downsides. Boredom, for one, is unavoidable, but instead of playing parcheesi, the gods devised a game that uses humans as pawns. Remember Shakespeare? That was Apollo. Bonnie and Clyde? Aphrodite versus Ares.

Aphrodite is on deck once again, and she’ll defend her domain of love as she works to get the humans together before the clock runs out, while her opponent tries to keep them apart.

Game one is against Apollo, and Aphrodite knows she has her work cut out for her when he chooses Dean, a brooding rock star man-whore who believes women can’t be trusted. Aphrodite decides on Lex, a perfect match for Dean, even though her heart is guarded, locked away tight. She’d never let anyone in. Not ever. Of course, she hasn’t met Dean.

But there’s always more at stake than just the game when you’ve lived for thousands of years. The Olympians are the original dysfunctional family, surviving eons of love and lust, betrayal and lies, as friends and enemies, through feuds and wars. From Ares, the douchebag, who’s forever trying to start a fight and get Aphrodite into bed, to Persephone, her best friend, who she can always count on for a healthy helping of bacon on a bad day, the gods will take you on a lighthearted trip as they mess with humans, laugh and fight, lose love and gain power.

She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f, ends with k, and there a uc in there. Just saying. New York Times bestselling author Cathy Maxwell continues her most powerful series with
the latest novel about the Chattan Curse.

Every woman has her dreams.
Portia Maclean believes she is beyond love and marriage. Then one moonlit night, while attempting a daring masquerade in a desperate bid to protect her family, she finds herself swept off her feet by a powerful stranger. His very touch makes her long for much more. But what will he do once he discovers she has betrayed him?

Every man has his demons.
Harry Chattan is fighting for his family-their honor and their lives. For two hundred years the Chattan men have been destroyed by love and now he's come to Scotland on the hunt for a witch who can break the legend's curse. Instead he finds himself bewitched by the tantalizing Portia. Determined to right legendary wrongs, Harry has vowed to fight the demons that torture him. But will that battle destroy her as well?

My review of book three:  The Devil's Heart

Yes, you are seeing this right.  I seem to be reading this series backwards.  There is a little confusion at times when they refer to things from previous books, but overall I haven't really seen any negative impacts for the book because of it.

Harry is off to try and find the witch that cast a curse on his family - and it leands him to Glenfinnan and Portia.  Portia's family is quickly running out of money and she sees his quest for a witch as a way for quick money to pay the rent.  When Portia and her cat , Owl, decide to trick him in his quest to find a witch - she pretends to be Fenella - not realizing that it is the same witch to cast the curse.

Their romance is very quick - almost wham bam thank ya mam the first time.  The relationship and romance didn't come until after, and that isn't always my favorite.  Portia finds herself falling in love with him and is terrified of the curse landing on his shoulders - so she runs and distances herself from him for his own good.  The big questions is will the curse still strike, or will they be able to find a way to reverse it and have their HEA.

While Portia was a great character - a very opinionated and honest woman for those times - Harry was a bit of a pompous ass (which he even admits to on occassion).  I love how they fit together - their personalities played off of each other very well.  Portia's mother and her suitor were a bit of comical relief through the whole thing without going too far as well.  I have the first book and hope to start it soon.

Can Rave stop a new zombie virus while fighting her attraction to an enemy werewolf?

In a world ravished by zombies, animal shifters vow to save human survivors and combat zombie hordes. Ravenna, princess of the northern raven conclave, joins forces with witch Dora Adler and the Fenrir werewolf pack. On a mission for a vaccine against Z-phage, Rave and her team fly to a remote biological research facility. They battle a new breed of zombie, faster and stronger than the human variety, and with an appetite for shifters.

Benandanti Templar Maddox seeks revenge against the Kindred leader who killed his team. He rescues a trapped woman, Ravenna destroyer of the Benandanti bloodstone. His wolf longs to claim and protect the sexy raven shifter. His Benandanti faith commands she stand trial.

While facing zombies, merciless tankers, and zealous Benandanti werewolves, Rave and Maddox struggle against their forbidden passion. They must set aside their conflicts and strike at the new zombie threat before the new virus spreads.
My review of Book One: Apocalyptic Moon

After the Bane is a series that will to appeal to just about anyone.  With an interesting mix of Zombie Apocalypse, hot Shifters, and some great romance - there's always something exciting happening.  Ravenna played a smaller part in the first book of the series, but she stole the show for the pages she was on.  She's a diva that also happens to be the alpha female of her raven murder - the princess that is set to take over the rule of the North American ravens.

Fate may have a different idea of what Rave will be doing.  When she falls not only for a werewolf, but an enemy werewolf that thinks she devil-spawned, she's pretty sure something is going to go wrong.  When they run into each other again afer a failed mission, Maddox has a hard time keeping his wolf from instantly marking her as his.

Their trip to accepting each other is full of strange supper ape zombie attacks, sex slave rings, and resistance from the shifters in their lives.  But with so much going go, they still need to try and find time to figure out their love for each other and what to do about it.

This was an amazing second edition to the series and I really really hope there's more to come.  With fantastically dynamic characters and a non-stop plot line (that doesn't skimp on the romance) it was nearly impossible to put down.  While this is the second in the series, you could probably read it by itself and only miss out on a little of the world and organization backgrounds.  I love the fact that Eva Gordon tackled the raven shifters - making a less glamourous bird into something truly exotic, exciting and sexy.

Jaci Harmon was born a Sapphire, but after she’s summoned to receive her final designation, the testing reveals she carries a gene slated for eradication. Within a day, she’s sterilized and dumped in the Amber Zone, where the damaged are corralled away from the rest of New Atlanta. Scared and alone, Jaci would rather die than face her future as an Amber.

Born in the Amber Zone, Xander Dimos is a product of a lifetime spent under the oppression of the Repopulation Laws. Decades of suffering have taught the Ambers to make the zone a place where touch, sex, and unconditional acceptance ease the pain of their fate. Jaci has a lot to learn about her new home, and it’s Xanderís responsibility to guide her through the differences and the dangers safely.

With the simmering undercurrents of sexual chemistry growing between them, and in the midst of discovering the Gov’s true motives, Jaci and Xander must overcome his secret and accept their love as undeniable...even if the time allotted to share it is short.

What an amazing ADULT Utopian/Dystopian book!

In a world where everything rides on your color being deemed an amber spells out a horrific future.

It means you're undesirable to the top rings of society. Whether it be a lower than average IQ, or an untreatable medical condition hiding within the strands of your DNA.

YOU ARE UNWANTED.

To be thrown out of the only home you've ever known, whisked to the futuristic equivalent of a WWII ghetto, told what your profession will be, and ,on top of it all, have the choice of having a child ripped away from you. It's horrifying. But believable. The government candy-coats the Amber's situation by providing them with food, alcohol, and housing. The Ambers placate themselves by indulging in the 'live in the now' method. Using physical touch, even sex, as a coping mechanism.

Following Jaci accept her new future was a ride. (Yes, I cried more than once) Luckily, her roommate Xander is there to help, but he's got secrets of his own.

Seriously, do yourself a favor and read this book. I LOVED it! Definitely re-read material. The author has stated that she expects this to be a series and I can't wait to find out what the future holds for some of the characters introduced in Being Amber.

About the Author
Heather Fleener lives in Indiana with her husband, D.A. and their twins, Thomas and Alexandra. Professionally she has spent her career working in the area of Intellectual Property law.
Reading has been a passion of hers since she was young and she has adored romance novels her entire life. The romantic styles of Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood are her inspiration, though she has read and loved the stories of countless other authors. Her fascination with the paranormal began to form at the young age of six, watching late-night ghost and vampire movies with her Grandpa. Unfortunately, as a result, she also remains afraid of the dark to this day.
Combining her love of epic romances and the supernatural was a natural progression for her overactive imagination. When the idea for the Ancients of Light series began, it was an abstract story line rambling around in her head to help kill a few miles on the treadmill. As the stories and plotlines continued to grow, it finally became necessary to put the words to paper and build the characters that had been living in the Realm and having conversations in her head for months.
The series is a testament to many miles on the treadmill and lots of characters that insist on having their stories told.

Excerpt from Mistaken:
Tristan liked that the witch was not composed enough to hide her shiver and the responsive widening of her eyes, but he did not like the apprehension he viewed there. He could not ascertain whether her tremble was due to terror or because somewhere, deep inside, her need rivaled his own. Having witnessed her bravery in their earlier confrontation, he tended to believe it was the latter, even if she was too inexperienced to recognize that truth. Intensely satisfied that he had her under his control - even if it was only for this short period – her closeness eased his raging, predatory instincts.
Leaning down to issue his gentle-toned inquiry, his breath stirred the tendrils of sun-bleached gold near her ear, “Do I scare you, Alia?”
Alia knew it was reasonable to be terrified; one of the darkest warriors within the enemy ranks had abducted her. Drawing back to look at him, she had no doubt that he was the stronger between the two of them. Those tips of teeth peeking from behind his upper lip should have her screaming in fright and begging for her life, but the longer she peered into that brilliant blue gaze, the more she calmed and her senses acclimated to their surroundings.
The sound of cascading water came to her, and almost simultaneous to that she felt an internal pull. Disbelieving, her gaze flit to the mouth of the cave. During her hurried inspection on arrival – her oversight most likely attributable panic - she had failed to identify its most extraordinary feature. Standing deep within the recesses, hundreds of feet from that opening, Alia had been mistaken in thinking that the overcast weather was responsible for the wall of gray visible beyond the entrance. Now, coupling her recognition of the sound with a second look, she realized that it was not a foggy haze but that a waterfall curtained the opening.
Those of her Caste were strongest when surrounded by nature’s bounty, which was why her kin settled within forests. It was also the reason they most often chose to bare their skin in a manner that was just short of improper. The feel of the rays of the sun and even the very wind against their flesh pulled at their magic. Understanding was in her eyes when they narrowed and shot back to him. It was obvious that he had been waiting for her to understand the significance of this location.
Her command over water and lightning was a new facet of Nature magic never before displayed by her kind, but her captor had witnessed her abilities firsthand. The more wild those elements, the more responsive her magic, and yet he had brought her here. His smug expression conveyed that his choice for her temporary prison had been deliberate and Alia was most certain that Tristan realized that her strength would be magnified being near such a powerful manifestation of one of the elements that she controlled.
Clever Vampire… Skatosita … She did not want to like him, but this one was making it rather impossible to relegate him to the pile of degenerate monsters that populated his breed. She had already determined that the Witch leaders were wrong in their assessment of his race. Rather than a rabid beast, Alia had witnessed the intelligence in this Vampire leader. During their first encounter, she had also glimpsed a side that suggested much more was lurking in him. Now he intentionally brought her to a place where she would feel strong, not powerless. A myriad of questions formed, and seeing her bemused expression, Tristan smirked and lifted a brow in invitation to speak her mind.
Her lone question was accusatory, “How did you know?”
Tristan refused to believe she was as upset with him as her tone implied, but he was not going to pretend to be something that he was not for the sake of charming her. Alia was a divine creation while he had been spat from the pits of Hell. He was resolute - between them there would be no skirting what either of them was, or the bloodied history between their breeds. For that reason, he gave her the truth, “I told you that we know much about the Witch. Your breed spills secrets from its lips as rain falls from the sky… and even was your Caste not of the same ilk, your kin reveal their secrets as willingly as all the others with the proper incentive.”
It sunk into her slowly what he meant by incentive, and she whispered confirmation of her understanding, aghast that he would broach the subject with her and have the audacity to gloss over it, “Torture.”
The word lingered between them and held no hint of question; the little witch had already convicted him. Tristan could have comfortably avoided the blatant confirmation, but he gave her a curt nod to make certain she had no room to doubt her conclusion. He did not want her young and fanciful imagination to make him into something more valiant than he was.
She did not move, but her eyes stabbed him, followed by words that were pious and clipped, “I would imagine, as a General in the Darks, that you are particularly adept at such practices.”
Alia was acting as though the Vampire were exclusive in their use of such abusive techniques. Her youthful innocence was endearing, but her illusions about the moral fabric of her leadership required correction. Rolling his eyes over her naiveté, his arms folded across his chest. The response he offered was calmly given, not defensive, “I am no more adept than your own leaders, Alia.”
There were rumors, of course, about the methods used by the Queens to interrogate the Vampire, but she had seen no such practice herself. She remained self-righteous, “I would not know, but I cannot think that our ways would be as twisted as those that the Darks employ and…”
Tristan snapped, leaning in, his sharp words interrupting her defense of her breed, “That is because you are young, Alia. You are foolish to believe that those you follow are so far above what I am and what I am required to do in order to fight this war.”
Starring at him for long moments, Alia realized that while she could allow his impatient interruption to push her into arguing, she was reluctant to fight with him. While she would not take his claim as fact merely because the handsome Dark proclaimed it, she would also neither ignore it. Many of her beliefs – beliefs that had been postulated as truths by her Queens – had been challenged recently, but she needed time and distance from him in order to form her own conclusions. The best choice was to move to another topic.
He had yet to withdrawal after those last words and his close presence was stealing her focus while her magic seemed to be coursing manically through her veins. The combination was leaving her feeling flushed and off balance. When she returned to his very first question, Alia was conscious that her breathy words most likely revealed too much of her attraction, “Should I be afraid?”
Tristan experienced a surge of triumph when she turned the topic rather than answer his harsh words in kind. The grin he gave her was a reflection of his pleasure and an entreaty to trust him, “There are parts of you that already know that answer…”
Leaning in closer still, it required only a small movement on his part to close the small gap that remained between them. The beauty did not retreat. Her nearness had his eyes shifting black while they lowered to observe the delectable pulse dancing beneath the sun-kissed skin of her neck. Still the witch did not move away…instead, her gaze was waiting for his when it lifted, and sparkles of magic blossomed there in response to his entreaty, “Listen to those parts, Alia… something inside you already knows that you belong to me.”
When she did not immediately deny it, Tristan could not help but wonder what it would be like to drink sunshine.

Review
One thing you can count on is Eve delivering a great ménage story. Heck, I love her ménages so much she could writes these stories all freaking day and I would make sure I was planted right in front of her with my hands out ready to gobble up the next one. LOL

Freakin’ Cougar is a bit different than other books by Eve. You still get the same great snarky, humorous storylines but this time around you get a real Cougar lady (meaning older lady with a much younger man) in the mix and the setting is mostly in a prison. Prison? How in the heck can someone have a romance in a prison, you say? Well, it’s just one you have to read to find out how well it worked for these three.

What I liked best about the story is the heroine is over 30. Yep, me being over 40 I get sick and tired of reading characters under 25. This is one of the main reasons I read indie published books because they don't have to follow traditional publishing rules, that characters has to be under 25.

Great characters along with a different storyline. I recommend this story to anyone who reads romance. I know some of you don’t like reading PNR but believe me Eve doesn’t create large PNR worlds that will just blow your mind. I myself call her books more along the lines of contemporary romance with some paranormal added. So, don’t be scared, if you love snarky characters, funny storylines then please give this whole series a try.

Can this be read as a standalone? Yes

To snag a young vampire socialite as their next client, Abbey journeys to the home of Lucian Redgrave, the oldest vampire on the East Coast. But he's not willing to allow his vampire daughter to use the agency... unless Abbey can first find his perfect match in a month.

As Abbey coaches Lucian through his dates, she can’t deny the chemistry between them. But humans are toys for vampires, and risking her heart isn't a part of the plan.

Fated Match is a high profile match making service for supernatural.  They specialize in finding that elusive connection that they are all looking for - a mate.  With a very high success rate, but rising competition, they jump at the chance to match up a very high profile vampire.  Abbey is one of the few humans that knows about the supernatural world, and Lucian is instantly curious about her.  Something sparks an interest deep down and he insists that she personally handle his entire case.

Abbey isn't afraid of most supernaturals, but the vamps are a different story - well anything that may view her as a snack is strictly off the relationship radar.  She is surprised to find that she can't keep Lucian out of her mind.  Both try hard to deny their attraction and prove it isn't right between them - but deep down they both know they were meant to be together.

This was a humorous and inventive story.  I loved the idea of the matchmaking agency - and it's really for all paranormals.  This could turn into an amazing series with Fated Match as the linking point.  I really hope it does, because I would love to read more like this.

The Cinderella Seduction
Four months ago, Nick’s bachelor-style life was turned upside down. Now the sole parent to a seven-year-old daughter he never knew existed, Nick doesn’t have time for pleasure. But he hadn’t factored in Stefanie or the intense attraction he’d feel for her. As her seduction heats up, so do the stakes, both professionally and romantically. Can he let business go long enough to allow Stefanie into his heart?

Operation Cinderella:
This was a great introduction to this series.  Macie is a hot headed liberal and Ross is an ultra conservative family man that are at each other's throats professionally.  When Macie goes undercover to find a deep dark secret she can use against him, she doesn't expect to find the type of guy she could fall in love with and a teenage daughter that needs her.  This was a very cute story with lots of laughts and "awwwww" moments.  I especially loved the relationship Macie developed with Ross's daughter, Samantha.  It was very sweet and touching how they helped each other out and in the end Samantha was a very important force bringing them together.

The Cinderella Makeover:
We got to meet Francesca, Ross's ex-wife and Samantha's mother, a few times in book one.  She was fun and sassy and oh so very Britsh.  As a famous photographer she traveled a lot, but is not looking to settle down and rebuild her relationship with her daughter.  Her ticket is a new reality show where she is one of the Greg's coaches.  Greg seems to have it all, but can't find love, so he enters a reality show to transform himself into a new person - with a little help from Francesca.  Their chemistry on the set is amazing, but when he finds out she made a bet on his success he turns his back on her.  With the end of the season quickly approaching, Francesca will have to pull out all the stops to get him to take her back.

I adored Francesca.  She was arrogant, very much a clothes snob, and totally stereotypically british - I loved it all.  She was my favorite character from this series (although I haven't read the short novella yet).

The Cinderella Seduction:
I loved Stephanie's character and her family played their parts in the story perfectly.  Constantly relying on her to pick up the slack and take care or things, she never seemed to know how to say no.  Her setp sisters were priceless.  I could just picture them screeching in the background and complaining just like the original Cinderella story.

Nick was an iffy prince charming at first.  Known for trying a new flavor of woman every few weeks, he really didn't fit the mold of the traditional prince charming.  But leave it up to an adorable seven year old to make a man change his ways for the better.  He was chivalrous, charming, and handsome.  His daughter managed to show him that being a prince charming was the better way to be.

Their story has a few ups and downs as it goes.  Even though it dutifully followed the Cinderella storyline, there were a few surprises thrown in to keep things interesting and different.

In Highlander Most Wanted, a reclusive woman content to live in the shadows shows a Highland warrior the true meaning of love.

Genevieve McInnes is locked behind the fortified walls of McHugh Keep, captive of a cruel laird who takes great pleasure in ruining her for any other man. Yet when Bowen Montgomery storms the gates on a mission of clan warfare, Genevieve finds that her spirit is bent but not broken. Still, her path toward freedom remains uncertain. Unable to bear the shame of returning to a family that believes her dead or to abandon others at the keep to an imposing new laird, Genevieve opts for the peaceful life of an abbess. But Bowen’s rugged sensuality stirs something deep inside her that longs to be awakened by his patient, gentle caress—something warm, wicked, and tempting.

Bowen seizes his enemy’s keep, unprepared for the brooding and reclusive woman who captures his heart. He’s enchanted by her fierce determination, her unusual beauty, and her quiet, unfailing strength. But wooing her will take more than a seasoned seducer’s skill. For loving Genevieve, he discovers, means giving her back the freedom that was stolen from her—even if it means losing her forever.

I absolutely fell in love with the first Montgomerys and Armstrongs book and was looking forward to Highlander Most Wanted. A lot of the time I will hype a book up in my mind and be devasted when it doesn't live up to my crazy expectations, but I was NOT in any way disappointed with Highlander Most Wanted a bit. From beginning to end it was a fantastic read!

Are you a fan of emotionally and physically scared heroines that still manage to hold a spark of self worth? How about a hot highlander with a heart of gold? If you're shaking your head yes right now you NEED to pick this one up.

A happily ever after is always great, but when it happens to a character that never expected even a glimmer of happiness in their future it becomes ultra fulfilling!

*I suggest reading this series in order.

Online virile.com dating columnist Dane Martin has no plans to give up his reign as bachelor
extraordinaire. He has a reputation to uphold, especially with the upcoming release of his book Coming on Strong.

Holly Winters, everyone’s favorite girl next door, thanks to her blog of the same name, gives advice, but she doesn’t always take it. When she meets Dane Martin, every fiber of her being warns her to turn tail and run. Instead, she risks her future as an authority on relationships, jeopardizing her upcoming self-help book for women struggling to find commitment among the Virile sycophants.

Has the Girl Next Door tamed the most Virile man alive, or is she just another notch on the bedpost?

This book is probably one of the most clever I have read in awhile.  Both are characters are romance advice bloggers, but from different sides of the coin.  The snippets or their writing that were spread throughout the book were great.  They really gave some extra insight into the characters are where they were at in their lives.  A perfect example of opposites attract, Holly and Dane seem to be heading in two separate directions.  When an odd blind date goes a little wrong, they decide to milk the publicity for awhile.  But, or course, one thing leads to another and now they need to decide if they were right about each other all along, of if maybe they were wrong and were meant to be together.

Lizzie Kent needs to forget the past. She lives in total anonymity, immersing herself in
nursing to help her forget. But when a man from her previous life turns up in her clinic, the life she’s tried to create for herself may come toppling down.

Ash knows what he wants and he wants Lizzie, the girl who left him all those years ago. As Hollywood's greatest action superstar no one says no to him, but when Lizzie refuses to acknowledge their shared past, he has to resort to a little old fashioned blackmail.

Will Lizzie revisit her past to enable her future with the man she loves, or do old wounds run too deep?
This book just missed it a bit for me.  When Ash blackmails Lizzie to spend time with him, he became a not very nice guy in my book.  The fact that Lizzie went along with it was even worse.  She knew his plan would fail if she just spoke up about it.  The redeeming factor for both of them didn't happen until the very end - after they had their big fight and basically swore to never speak to each other again.  It was all just a little too dramatic for my taste.  Perhaps that's just what you get when you have a movie star as a main character.

Dark times have fallen over England. The war with France is taking its toll on the Calend, the hidden society of magic users devoted to keeping the country safe from magical and human threats.Maeve Llwyd has spent her life trying to escape her mother's scandalous reputation, teaching at a magical academy for young ladies, obeying every strict rule in the hopes of being accepted in the Calend world. When she receives a prophetic warning that a dark power is gathering the pieces of a weapon that has been lost for a thousand years to bring down never ending darkness on England, her every fear becomes reality—she is called on to sacrifice her reputation in order to gain the power she needs to fight, ensuring that she will lose her position at her beloved school and be rejected by the Calend. But nothing is more desperate than finding the ancient weapons before the enemy—a shadow druid who craves using them to bring England to its knees.

Constantine Armitage, Earl of Evengate, lives his life at the bottom of a bottle, punishing himself for the death of his cousin. But one dark night, he is thrown into Maeve's life. The lovely witch lives in a strange world of spells and threats, driven to protect those around her, even though they will never thank her for it, or even know. Though she resents his interference and rejects his aid, he wants nothing more than to help her, and if he kills himself in the process, so much the better...

Wow, what an absolutely fantastic read. You can always tell when I love a book because I'm at a loss for words. You would think it would be the other way around and I would be able to go on and on. It's just so hard when I liked something so much to try to get just the right words down! So, bare with me while I try to convey how much I loved The Earl With the Dragon Tattoo.

You get an entire magical world filled with witches, druids and other magical creatures right underneath, seemingly, normal London. The war in France has taken a lot of the witches away from the shores of England, but the safety of it's citizens still need to be upheld by someone. Leaving Maeve, the leader of a young coven of witches, to stop evil from trying to take over.

Maeve is a strong female character made that way from a less than pristine lineage. The daughter of a promiscuous actress she's made it her goal to never fill the sullied shoes her mother left behind. Unfortunately, to gain more power she's told she must make a sacrifice, and it's one that just might throw her in the shoes that she never wanted to wear.

Constantine is a complex character. Since the death of his uncle and cousin he's lived as a shell of a man. Helping Maeve in her goals give him a purpose, but he still struggles to make more of his life. What starts as a clandestine meeting in Vauxhall gardens quickly turns into a relationship, but a very complicated one.

Con and Maeve had me in a tailspin. One minute I would laugh about their mutual hard-headedness, and the next I just wanted to shake them and scream for them to just suck it and be happy together! And when two characters have me that invested, you know you have a winner ;)

For those of you looking for something more than a romance, know that The Earl also has a very action driven plot. The magic in this book is used, and not just as an interesting skill a few of the characters have. Just think of it as an Urban Fantasy set in Regency England, heavy on the romance. (Easy enough, right? LOL)

I sincerely hope that Teresa Wilde makes this into the series. There were so many characters that I grew curious about and I can't wait to find out what their future hold!

Raine Kendall has everything a woman could want…almost. Sexy, tender Dom Liam O’Neill is her knight in shining armor, but Raine is constantly pinching herself. Is he too good to be true or is this growing connection one that could last a lifetime? She’s constantly torn by her abiding feelings for her commanding boss, Macen “Hammer” Hammerman, especially in the wake the mind-blowing night he cast aside the barriers between them and ravaged every inch of her body.

Hammer, Liam’s former best friend, can’t stop coveting Raine. But Liam is determined to hold and guide the woman he loves and see if she can be the submissive of his dreams. However, he’s finding that her trust is hard won and he needs a bloody crowbar to pry open her scarred soul. So he risks everything to win her once and for all. But once he’s put his daring plan in motion, will it cost Liam his heart if he loses Raine to Hammer for good?
Ok I gave in and decided to read book 2 of Doms of Her Life despite how the first book ended with me feeling let down. Sometimes you see a train wreck and you can't help to look and find out what is happening and with these characters I couldn't look away from these train wrecked people and I wish I did.

Book 2 continues where Book 1 left off with Raine trying to sort out her feelings for the two men in her life who have come to mean so much to her. Unfortunately, she is unable to see that her inability to give herself completely to either one of them is tearing the men apart from the inside out.

The issue that I continue to have with Raine is she has these two men who are trying to help her to get over her barriers and help her be able to “submit” and become a submissive, but I don't see her as being a submissive at all. I see Raine as an immature woman who is confused and doesn't have the maturity to know what is involved to be in a committed relationship as she continues to break their trust and commitments made. Again I don't feel that she is trying to “train” to be a submissive or wants to be a submissive, just wants to get what she wants.

By the time I reached the end of the book, I had to force myself to finish it as I felt Raine's selfish needs were all about her and did not take into consideration the two men's feelings and how much it was tearing them apart. As Doms I can see how they are trying to take care of her “needs” but in return a submissive obtains pleasure is seeing the pleasure that she gives to a Dom for giving up her gift of control to him. In this case it is not reciprocal because it leaves one of the Dom's questioning his ability to take care of her needs and his difficulty in dealing with the pain building in his heart.

Book 2 is another one of those books that makes me question should I continue with book 3 (The Bold and the Dominant) as the book ends without a happily ever after or even a happy for now. Again the inconsistencies in what the characters say and do in one part of the book to the other leaves me frustrated at times though I don't think in a good way.

Not your typical Southern belle . . .
Lucy Richardson’s bandit sisters may have taught her to sling a gun and pick a stubborn lock, but nothing prepared her for the agony of her first heartbreak. Her sisters taught her to fight like hell for what she wants…and she wants Finn.

Not your proper Southern gentleman…
Finn Taggart is bad news. His dark and tortured past always catches up to him, and Lucy deserves better than to be tainted by his touch. He couldn’t have her years ago, and he can’t have her now, no matter how enticing she is. If only he can convince her of that before the danger that follows him brings them both down.

Not your classic love story…
Danger doesn’t exactly scare a girl like Lucy, and she knows how to use all kinds of weapons…including her feminine wiles. Finn doesn’t stand a chance. And if they need backup…the Blood Blade Sisters are never far away…

This is the third book in the series, and while it stands alone as a story, I did feel like a missed a lot.  It refers several times to incidents that I assume occured in previous books.  It didn't take away from the story, but it did leave me feeling like I missed out on something.

Lucy and her sisters are not your typical women of the time.  As ex-bandits, they have much more spunk and aren't afraid to say what they want and stand up for themselves.  Lucy shows this perfectly when she leaves town for the south to find the love of her life, Finn.  She hasn't seen him since before the Civil War, at least seven years has gone by.  Finn ran from Lucy not because he didn't love her, but because he didn't want her involved with the bad people he was associated with.

This is a book about fighting for who you love and what you want.  I loved Lucy - expecially when she had a shotgun in her hands.  She seemed fearless - but deep inside she knew that she really needed Finn to complete her.  But her push to bring Finn back in only drags her deeper into the realm he was trying to keep her from to begin with.  There were a few times I wasn't sure if Lucy would be about to get out of the trouble she found herself in.  This book wrapped quite an adventure into the romance and it meshed very well.
