 Review 

Immortals After Dark is one of the first PNR series that got me hooked on reading tons of other PNR books, I have truly loved reading this series over the years.

 I wanted to love this book just as much as the others, but it just fell short for me and it took me just a little over a month to finish the book. I didn’t mind that the characters were new or the whole seemed like beauty and the beast thing going on, the book just wasn’t as exciting to me as the previous books. It took me a few hundred pages after the middle for it to get exciting for me and still it wasn’t like the others.

The upside is the hell world. The setting is full of magical animals and plants that will have you on the edge wanting to know more about the world.  

    

I know others will like this one more than I did so I would never discourage anyone to not try it, the books is good just not as good as the others in the series to me, but again you never can expect every book to be your favorite.

I’ll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

From the essential brioche and rye bread to a classic 1-2-3-4 cake with seasonal flavor variations and easy French gateaux, this hard-cover, high-quality cookbook will be the go-to resource for those looking to bake artisan goods at home.

I’m obsessed with this baking book.

If you’re a baker I truly recommend this book, there are easy and advance recipes. I have over a hundred baking and cookbooks and even more than that in magazines, I have so many that just as soon as my daughter noticed the new book the first words that came out of her mouth was “Mom, another freaking cookbook?”  Yep! Lol. 

I’ve baked a couple of cake recipes, several different bread recipes including muffins, and scones and have been happy with them all.  I especially love the sourdough starter and the cream biscuits are my daughter’s favorite.  The only downside is there are not that many cookie or pie recipes. 

The majority of each recipe in the book gets one full page image so you get a good look at what you are going to bake. Recipes are easy to follow and the book is very large which is great for us that are older and now hard of seeing LOL.  

I have added a couple of images hoping you can tell how large the book is.

How to Find the Man of Your Dreams

Finding the perfect man is every woman’s dream. But how do you turn dream into reality? There is no guarantee that you will ever find him but surely there are things we can do as women to make those dreams come true.

1-      Know yourself first.

You can’t give yourself to someone else until you know what you want. You have to know what your expectations are, what your needs are, and what it is you are looking for. You need to be honest with yourself about your own faults. What can you change about you to make you a better person? Really knowing yourself will help you understand what you want from a relationship.

2-      Don’t expect perfection

Don’t expect the perfect man to be perfect. Everyone has flaws including you so don’t expect anything different from a man. The key is finding a man with flaws that you can live with. Be quick to forgive those little annoying habits that get on your nerves but I can guarantee that you have an annoying habit too. If you except perfection you will end up being too picky. Now just because you don’t expect perfection doesn’t mean you have to settle.

3-      Be happy being alone and love yourself

In order to be happy with the man of your dreams you first have to be happy with your own company. If you don’t love who you are as a person you will never love the person you end up with.

4-      Get experience

You will need to get some experience before you can find the man of your dreams. Go on dates with different types of guys and find out what type suits you the best. Step outside of your comfort zone. You never know, maybe that is where the man of your dreams is waiting.

5-      Compromise

Stand your ground on what really matters to you but know when to compromise. Don’t cut a guy lose just because he only meets parts of your criteria. Have an open mind and adjust your criteria list to things you can live with and things you cannot. It is all about balance, making each other happy and fulfilling each other’s needs.

Review

Shaw does any amazing job creating a standalone, for any series, I have to read in order freak, like me.  I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. Kudos.

The characters are really great, but I could have used more background on Bridget, I didn’t feel like I got to really know her as much as I did Connor. They are both lovable, not annoying in any way.

The downside to me was, the book is very predictable. I am not going to host any spoilers, but the connection between Conner and the kid was just too similar, I could see where it was all going to lead to and I could tell what the villain was going to do with the heroine before it happened.

It would have been wonderful if the villain had his POV. He got one tiny paragraph which didn’t help me fully feel the whole connection like I would have liked to. I could see it just not feel it.

I would have enjoyed the book more if there was more shown by the characters eyes, not telling.

There are a few scenes that I would have loved more details on. For example, the where they go to the BDSM club, I wanted to see what was going on around them when they entered, give me a picture as I read of what the characters are seeing, smelling, touching. I know this cannot be done the whole time, but there are times I want to be in the character's mind. I want to know what they are seeing, feeling etc. I know this is picky, but I really do miss this in books nowadays and this is why I don’t read so much anymore too. When I read I want to feel like I am in the story, not someone just telling me the story.

Would I still recommend this book? Yes, this is a new author that I know loves to learn and I know once she starts digging into the world more, the more she will apply to her stories. I can see her really growing in the next few years

With keen interest, Owen Pierce took note of the three women as they hurried away from the dais and into the Sinclair mansion.

“Put your eyes back in your head, Bro. She’s nothing but trouble,” Jon warned in low tones.

Owen bit back the retort that if anyone knew about trouble, it was his brother. Jonathan had always marched to a different drummer and had set out on his own as a teenager to explore what he wanted out of life. Now a successful entrepreneur, he had captured the media’s attention with his innovative designs and daring adventures. That left Owen to shoulder most of the burden of the family’s real estate business, as well as deal with his father’s anger over Jonathan’s latest newsworthy escapade.

He envied his brother’s carefree spirit and determination, especially as Maggie Sinclair marched back onto the patio with her friends, an angry bride, and an obviously inebriated groom. Both the bride and groom looked far from happy as they approached the elaborate multi-tiered wedding cake that had been wheeled out to the middle of the makeshift dance floor.

He worried the bride might plunge the long knife she held into her new husband, but luckily for the newlyweds, Maggie directed the blade toward the cake.

Jon playfully elbowed him. “Seriously, Owen. She’s not for you. Father declared the Sinclairs off-limits ages ago. He would have a stroke if he thought the two of you were involved.”

In a way, he’d been involved with her forever. He’d like to chalk it all up to a sloppy, hurried, and stolen kiss at eighteen and the allure of forbidden fruit. He arched a brow and met his brother’s blue-eyed gaze, which glittered with a mix of undisguised challenge and amusement. “Do you think you’re the only one entitled to a little adventure in your life?” he said.

Jon chuckled. “My kind of adventure is way safer than what you may be considering.”

“Why’s that, Li’l Bro?” he asked, appreciating the sight of Maggie in a dusty-rose gown that hugged dangerous curves. Her chestnut-brown hair fell to her shoulders in soft waves and framed ice-blue eyes and a sassy, sexy face that snared his attention every time he saw her.

Jonathan took a last sip of his champagne and barely stifled another laugh. With a shake of his head, he replied, “Because all I risk is an occasional broken bone, but that…”  He jerked his head in Maggie’s direction as she stepped back beside Connie and Emma.  “That will break your heart.”

“Hold on a sec,” I say as I take a small step back and look between them, grab a quick glance back at Muse and Cope.  They're hanging back, watching the situation with interest.  Both of them have strange, almost wry smiles on their faces when they exchange a look.  “What's the hurry then?” I ask, taking the whip back from Ran and lifting a hand to his face.

         Gently, I push the hood back and press my mouth softly to his, just a peck before I pull away and do the same to Pax, sliding the whip across his cheek before I kiss him, too.  It's like kissing night and day, two halves of the same cycle.  Ran tastes like kindness with a healthy dose of anger simmering underneath, while Pax tastes like cruelty over pain.

         It's a lot to take in.

         I kiss Ran again, deeper this time, sliding my tongue against his, loving the feel of his hand sliding up my back.  Pax makes a sound and I switch back to him, letting that wicked sharp mouth take over mine.  And then when I pull back, I take him with me, drawing us together in a three-way kiss, just mouths and tongues and heat.

         I can feel my body responding to the hot warmth on either side of me, the rigid cocks pressed up against me, the sounds emanating from each guy's throat.  They might be pissed off at each other—might even hate each other—but right now, they both want me and that gives them some common ground.

         I pull back and take the whip with me, dropping down to my knees between them.
