Cowboy Player by Mia Hopkins ~ Cover Reveal and Giveaway

Check Out the Cover for the Newest Novel from Mia Hopkins, COWBOY PLAYER!

Legendary cowboy player reunited with his brainy, feisty childhood crush—get ready for the sizzle!

About COWBOY PLAYER

This cowboy and cowgirl sell the steak and the sizzle.

For eight years, Melody Santos played the game of love and lost—big time. Now she’s back in her tiny hometown looking after her younger sister, making ends meet with an assortment of odd jobs. When her childhood best friend hires her to help him sell his family’s grass-fed beef, the last thing she anticipates is falling in lust with the legendary, brown-eyed player.

To put his family’s cattle ranch back in the black, Clark MacKinnon has his sights set on big contracts—gourmet chefs and restaurateurs. If that means long hours traveling from farmer’s market to farmer’s market, Clark doesn’t mind. Particularly since his new assistant is his childhood crush, all grown up and sexy as hell.

One night in bed leaves them breathless and hungry for more. But when his love-’em-and-leave-’em reputation collides with her trust issues, Clark and Melody must face the truth about what they’ve become: not friends, not lovers, but players in a game that’s impossible to win.

Warning: Contains filthy banter, raunchy sex, excessive Johnny Cash references, and hundreds of pounds of raw beef.

Excerpt from COWBOY PLAYER:

Melody shook her head. “You can’t help yourself, can you, MacKinnon? You’re a hopeless flirt.”

“Flirting? Thought I was just drinking beer and being myself.” He looked down at the empty
coaster in front of her. “What about you? What are you having? Gin and tonic, right?”

He remembered her favorite drink. Melody smiled. “No, I’m good. I’m on sister watch tonight.

She really wants to cut loose. Someone’s gotta hold her hair back when the vomit flies. Which it
inevitably will.” She waved her hand at him. “You should go have a good time. Get yourself a nice piece. Enjoy your Saturday night.”

Only Clark could make a shrug look so sexy. “But I’m already enjoying my Saturday night.”

Something about the way he said those words made Melody’s skin tingle.

As an experiment, she uncrossed her legs and leaned forward, resting her arms on the bar. For a nanosecond, Clark’s dark eyes darted to her cleavage before resting on his beer. A sudden, electric thrill shimmied down her spine. Her body clenched with pleasure, knowing she could still get the attention of a man as insanely hot as Clark MacKinnon.

But then…guilt.

That’s Clark. Don’t flirt with Clark.

The Christmas Tree by Allyson Charles ~ Cover Reveal

Title: The Christmas Tree
Author: Allyson Charles
Publisher: Lyrical Shine
Genre: Romance
Format: Ecopy

DECORATING WITH THE GRINCH

It was one little fender bender. Sadie was only in picturesque Pineville, Michigan, for a day, trying to handle the ramshackle house her grandmother left her and juggle the sale of her failing design business at the same time. Her debtors don’t care that it’s almost Christmas. But then neither does the big bad contractor whose truck got squashed.

Colt McCoy might be the least festive person she’s ever met. He’s gruff, rude, and way too upset about a minor accident. Of course, he is nice to look at, with dimples hiding in his scruffy beard and a body like a lumberjack’s. And Sadie will have plenty of time to enjoy the view, since their community service sentence has put the two of them in charge of Pineville’s jinxed Christmas tree.

But as their squabbles over ornaments turn to laughter, anyone can see Colt and Sadie have something electric. The hard part is guessing if they’ll light each other up—or just keep blowing the fuse . . .

About the Author:
Allyson Charles lives in Northern California. She’s the author of the contemporary romances Putting Out Old Flames and The Christmas Tree. A former attorney, she happily ditched those suits and now works in her pajamas writing about men’s briefs instead of legal briefs. When she’s not writing, she’s probably engaged in one of her favorite hobbies: napping, eating, or martial arts (That last one almost makes up for the first two, right?). One of Allyson’s greatest disappointments is living in a state that doesn’t have any Cracker Barrels in it.

First we’ll start off with a fun one, who is Fred the moose, and who are his loyal followers?

Marie: Green Mountain readers met Fred in chapter one of book one, All You Need Is Love, when city girl Cameron Murphy ran her brand new Mini Cooper into Fred on a dark mountain road. When Will Abbott came upon the scene, he was far more concerned about the health of the town moose than he was about the city girl’s brand new car with the crushed front end. It was the start of a beautiful romance between Will and Cameron—and Cameron and Fred, who shows up with enough regularity that Will’s dad surmises Fred has a crush on Cameron. Much hilarity ensues any time Fred pops in for a visit, which is why the readers eagerly look forward to his appearances in each of the Green Mountain books.

The Green Mountain Series features the Abbott, Stillman, and Coleman families. Where are Charley and Tyler in the Green Mountain family tree?

Marie: Charley falls square in the middle of the Abbott family at number five out of ten siblings. She’s a self-proclaimed pain the rear, and you won’t hear her siblings deny that she’s one prickly, pushy, pain the butt. But they love her anyway, and so does Tyler, who’s been trying to get her to go out with him for ages. He doesn’t stand a chance with her until she falls off a mountain, and he sees his opportunity to come to her rescue—in more ways than one!

This book follows the story of Charley and Tyler, can we expect everything to go smoothly for them, or will they hit a few road bumps along the way?

Marie: This is a romance novel! The course of true love never runs smooth, and Charley and Tyler are in for a wild ride before they find their happily ever after. Their story has all the things readers have come to expect from this series—meddling family members, sibling bickering, hot, steamy love scenes and a visit from Fred the moose!

Ain’t She Sweet is set in picturesque Vermont, how do you use this landscape to pull out the stories of your characters?

Marie: The mountain tapestry offers up a lot of opportunities for story, such as when Cameron arrives in the midst of mud season (and yes, mud has a season in Vermont), or when Charley falls off the side of a mountain during a snowy run. The characters love to ski and snow-mobile, among other activities that require toasty fires in the wood stove and down comforters to keep them warm. ;-)

Time for another fun one! What are Charley and Tyler’s favorite food, color, car and sport?

Marie: They prefer cars with four-wheel drive, such as Tyler’s Range Rover, to get them around in the mountains during the winter. They both love to run, as you’ll see in the opening chapters of Ain’t She Sweet. As for the rest, well, you’ll have to read the book and decide for yourselves! Thanks for joining us today, and for giving us the opportunity to learn a little more about your latest book!

About the Book

With plans to kill a psychopath, nothing will stop him.

Not even the magick.

Holding a gun and storming a beach like a courageous soldier is strange territory for Hannah Lee, a quiet Seattle doctor. Stepping foot on that beach changes everything for her. Feeling an undeniable magickal pull, Hannah knows her real mission: find the wolf who sets her heart on fire. She never expected him to come in war paint and Kevlar, wielding an automatic weapon. But Viper has an agenda of his own--despite the attraction he so desperately feels. Will he succumb to the magick or will his vendetta stand in the way of what Fate desires?
Warning: This book actually takes place in the same period of time as book seven, just from a different group's point of view. I didn't realize this at first and was a little confused as I began. This is the story of a black ops wolf team storming the island of a madman - but they have civilians with them. One of these civilians is Hannah - a peaceful wolf that practices medicine.

This opposites attract pairing was amazing! Hannah was very prim, proper, and had a don't kill people attitude. But Viper - just like his name - was a vicious killer with no remorse. I would have never expected things to work out between the two, but by the end of the night I changed my mind. They are one of the most perfect couples I've seen in a paranormal romance.

Hunted Wolf really wraps up this little mini-series of books very nicely. There's room to go if the authors decide to, but I feel like it all ended up where it needed to be for now. My biggest disappointment was what happened after the wrap up. In the end we get to see all the characters again - which is great - but I didn't particularly enjoy how it was done.

Paying a debt may cost him his life--or his heart.

When an old friend seeks his help, Russian mercenary Vadik Nabatov doesn't hesitate for a second. After all, he owes Luther his life. But something is off. Luther isn't the same, and even a professional like Vadik might be in over his head. The last thing he needs is to enter into enemy territory with Andrea VonBrandt, who stirs up a desire in him that he thought was long gone.

But sitting back and letting Andrea go into a madman's lair as his submissive and downtrodden slave is asking too much. She can't possible face a crazy billionaire alone. Now, it's up to Vadik to save the woman, so he can save his heart.
I had a hard time getting into Andrea and Vadik's romance. There was just soooo much going on that it seemed to get pushed to the back burner at times. Andrea and Vadik are an unlikely pair - and they are both rather surprised at fate's choice for them. Vadik was a really great character. Just enough bad boy, but still with a heart of gold. Andrea, on the other hand, sort of fades into the background for me.

Their story and undercover operation is brilliant though. So many great things happen as they undergo a transformation into people they could never be - all so they can save the wolves on the island from a madman. There's quite a bit of psychological work at play for this operation, and it was probably my favorite part of the story.

I wish the romance had just been a tad bit "more" somehow though. But the excitement is definitely there and Vadik is a hero you will remember for quite a while.

A battle between loyalty and conscience.

Magick and desire.

Blissfully unaware of the depth of Rossi's organization, Luther Frost has remained loyal to the one man who's always protected him. And needing Rossi to survive becomes his ultimate problem.

When the strong-willed and persuasive Maggie Gallagher convinces him who his boss really is, Luther is torn between his loyalty to the man who keeps him alive and to the woman he desires. Resisting their magick is out of the question, but exposing the dangerous and vengeful Rossi could cost Luther his life. Now it's up to Luther to decide: turn against his boss or turn against his conscience? Only one can win.
I love Maggie! She is exactly like I would want to be in a werewolf military romance story. I loved her attitude, her computer nerdiness, and how she wasn't some drop dead gorgeous blond bombshell. She was just her regular tom-boyish self. Luther was just the right mix of uptight jerkwad and concerned bad boy. Once his eyes are opened about the truth of Rossi's organization, he will have to make quite a lifechanging decision.

There is tons of action in this ad we finally get a glimpse of Rossi's full organization and just how twisted he really is. So much happened in the book and a couple times I did get my wolves mixed up a little bit, but in the long run it was just an excellent addition/continuation to the series. You can just feel how close they are to getting their bad guy - but they just haven't quite gotten there yet.

A Steampunk fairy tale.

Happy endings require patience, hope, and a little ingenuity. Finette Proulx puts her skills at repairing clockwork gadgetry to greater use when she bets all she has on an airship race. Her loss only steams up her desire to win the prize at the British Diamond Cup—and her freedom. After such a lonely life, love seems too much to ask... until she meets Sacha. A mysterious Romanian, “Sacha” Aleksander Dragomir Dalca, aids her in ways she doesn’t suspect. At the moment she thinks her life is falling into ruin, she finds him waiting to catch her with open arms. The handsome gypsy affirms her belief that dreaming's not for fools, and she deserves to write her happy ending her own way.
Quite a fun version of a Steampunk Cinderella tale. Finette is an inventor and tinkerer whose only dream is to fly in the big airship race. But in true Cinderalla fashion, her step-family stand in her way at every turn. I really enjoyed Finette - she had just the right amount of attitude and needed just the right amount of help for me to keep cheering for her.

Her prince charming was a little different - I loved the way they met, and you know right away that they will end up together. You just aren't sure how it's going to happen. The two played nicely off each other and I really liked how they interacted.

My biggest complaint was Finette's father - he just didn't sit right with me at all. I never understood how he acted at all. Her friend and fellow pilot was amazing though. She'd make a great character for her own little romance.

They're hot as fire, and if you mess with their mate, you're bound to get burned.

Draven and Ran are dragon shifters, the fire-breathing enforcers of the shifter world. The ones they call when things go wrong. Strong, sexy and wealthy, the only thing the two partners are missing is a mate to share it all with. But that's tricky in the dragon world and after years of searching, the dragons have basically given up. That is, until a sexy, reckless human librarian lands in their path during a mission.

Melissa knows she would have been in hot water had the two handsome, powerful and mysterious men not showed up to save her butt from a group of violent men. Still, when her rescuers take her back to their New York loft, she's confronted by a mystery she never expected. Dragons and other shapeshifting creatures exist. And these dragons are definitely hotblooded.

But as the sexy dragons show Melissa all the perks of being their mate, Melissa is also uncovering the dangerous secrets of the dragon world. If she isn't willing to risk everything, their chances at a happily ever after might just go up in flames.
I am just going to be plain and simple here. If you truly want a good M/F/M ménage story, then I would suggest you move along and don’t bother buying this one. There is no world building, no character development and as for the sex, well that wasn’t hot either. The heroine has never had sex with a man before and their first time she takes them both by double penetration, no joke. The way the book stands now, it's just not enough there to enjoy.

I would rather pay more and get a well-developed book.

A Day in the Life of… Gracie Resquire by Lori Soard
Gracie Resquire is the main character from the book Cupid’s Quest by Lori Soard, the first in her Cupid’s Crossing series. Gracie runs a small nursing home in the town of Cupid’s Crossing. Even though the book is a romantic comedy, it is hard to see how Gracie will ever find time for romance with the senior citizens constantly getting themselves into trouble.
Excerpt from Book – Meet Gracie
Gracie started her car and flipped to the local news station. If the weather was nice tomorrow, she would plan some activities for out in the courtyard so the residents could enjoy the sun.
“And in other news… A band of renegade old folks took the town by storm this evening, leading police on a high speed chase…” The announcer paused for a moment and Gracie heard laughter in the background.  Composing her voice, the announcer continued. “The driver was tooling around town without a license. Apparently, his license expired more than fifteen years ago.”
Gracie swallowed. As much as she wanted to believe it was a group of seniors unrelated to Days Never New, she had a sinking feeling that she knew exactly who had led the police on that chase.
“The van they were driving reached speeds of 20 miles per hour—“ The announcer didn’t hold back her gut-wrenching laughter this time. It took her several minutes to continue. “—down Candy Kisses Lane, where they’d apparently been on some type of scavenger hunt, around to Main Street, out past the park and finally stopping in front of a trail and trying to scramble out of the van and run from police. They were apprehended within minutes.”
Oh boy. Oh boy. Oh boy!
In five minutes, she was back at Days Never New. She didn’t bother with going around back and parking in her space, but found a slot on Heart Boulevard and raced for the front entrance.
“Sinclaire!” She rushed for the main part of the building. Please, Lord, let them all be here.
“Gracie? What on earth is going on?” Sinclaire’s hair stuck out in all directions and her half-open eyes told Gracie she’d been snoozing.
“Is everyone accounted for?”
“Well, they were taking a nap, and maybe I was, too…” Sinclaire trailed off and then hung her head. “Honestly? I have no idea. I’m so sorry. Jack still won’t sleep and I’m exhausted.”
“Let’s go look, shall we?” Gracie already knew they’d find at least two people missing, Cap and Libby. There was no doubt in her mind as the announcer had described the elderly woman beating the cop over the head with her cane just who that woman was. Cap was the only resident nervy enough to think he could actually drive.
Still, there was the smallest glimmer of hope that some other feisty old woman with a cane had been the one on the lamb and Libby was sound asleep in her bed. That hope was bashed into tiny shards when Gracie opened the door to the woman’s room and found her absent. The bed was still made perfectly without even an indentation to mar the smooth surface.
“I think we’d better start praying while we drive to the police station,” Gracie said.
As you can see, Gracie has her hands full. She loves those old folks just like they were her own family, though. She’d do anything for them.

About the Author
Lori Soard has a PhD in Journalism and Creative Writing, but she's hardly the stuffy professor type. She loves nothing better than a good romantic comedy and thinks the good guy should always win and the ending should always be happy.

From an early age, Lori started honing her story telling skills. As a kid she was rarely seen without a book in her hand, even walking and reading at the same time. Her first stories were about the world around her. At twenty she wrote her first novel, which she admits was horrible. At twenty-one, she sold her first article to a local newspaper. Once she got that taste of having others read her work and realizing that she could reach others and touch their hearts, there was no turning back for this natural born writer.

"If I can make someone's day just a tiny bit better," Lori says, "if I can make them smile even though they are sad, make them think things could be better, make them understand how much God loves them, then I have accomplished something. I write my stories, articles and books with that one person in mind who really needs the message. If I can change one person's perspective, then I've succeeded."

Lori is a life-long Hoosier and lives in southern Indiana with her two daughters, husband and beloved pets. "During the extreme low points in life, it has been my animals that have seen me through. There is nothing like the deep devotion of a dog or the unconditional love of a cat." Lori adores animals and while some of her dear friends have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge she will always stand by her belief that animals make the world a better place.

Her latest book is the inspirational contemporary romance, Cupid’s Quest.

Welcome to the Lake Morgan Book Festival!

Each year, Mr. Denton McCray and his eclectic team of volunteers hosts the most anticipated, and the most mysterious, book fest in a cozy, lakeside community near the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Though many accounts have highlighted strange occurrences, readers are drawn to the book fest each year by the hundreds, and authors are thrilled to receive a hand-delivered invitation to participate.

The season is autumn. The day is overcast. There's an electric crackle in the air that foreshadows the arrival of approaching storms. Tops of trees sway under the weight of winds that bear more than the threat of rain. The book fest takes place in an old building that once served as a high school. It has been decades since students roamed the halls ... living students, that is.

The Lake Morgan Book Fest opens at 6 PM and runs until midnight. So, grab a cup of hot tea, and dive in!

"A Sexy Thing Happened at the Book Fest"

Within these pages, readers will discover just how sexy things can get at the Lake Morgan Book Fest. Tales of romance and paranormal awaits discovery!
Another fun addition to the Lake Morgan Book Fest short story anthology - only this one is a little hotter. There's quite a variety of quick romance-style short stories in this one. Again, some really stood out and I loved them, while a couple fell a little flat.

Here's a couple of my favorites:

Lucy Charm: This was an amazing story - my favorite of the bunch. A good dose of awkward girl meets a strange man from the past - or the present - it's one of those where things seem to mix and merge and I was never 100% sure. But that was part of the fun of reading it. I different take on the one night stand genre that I really enjoyed.

The Gift: More of a romance in the traditional sense. I really fell in love with Rachel from the get go, she was a great character. And while I had a harder time with Ian, in the end he was a great guy - just a bit one dimensional. He is quite the gentleman when the two of them get stuck in the basement - I sure wouldn't mind being stuck down there with him!

Gabriel by K.J. Coakley ~ Book Spotlight

An Adult Paranormal Romance Novella. This is book three of the Enmortals Series and can be read as a companion to the series. The books in this series are NOT standalone novels and should be read in sequence.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Due to language and erotic content, this book is intended for an audience 18+

Soul mate: A person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity.

I used to think that soul mates were the makings of fairy tales and romantic grandeur. But that was before I met mine. Now, nothing will ever be the same again.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder … well, I've had over two thousand years.

My mind is awash with memories from the past. My heart aches for the one who yearns to lay claim to my soul for eternity. Each day, I feel my resolve weakening. My reality slipping into an ebony abyss that only his essence can pierce the darkness of.

As visions from the past begin to cloud the present, I find myself helplessly drawn to him. Deeper and deeper I slide down that slippery slope, slowly loosing pieces of myself to the one I share my soul with.

Time is of no consequence. The only thing that matters now—love. But is it enough to protect us from those who would seek to harm us?

Only time will tell.

Author Bio:

I live a life where I play many roles...as most women do when they are a wife, mother, and caretaker of a rowdy dog with an appetite for furniture. But when I'm not working my day job, or spending time with my family, I can be found glued to my laptop where I love to create worlds with sexy alpha males and brazen heroines. I'm also an avid fan of heavy metal and rock music, and regularly attend music festivals with my better half.

Within these pages, readers will discover just how weird the Lake Morgan Book Fest can get. Tales of time travel, science fiction, paranormal, speculative fiction, urban fantasy, comedy, and even a little romance awaits discovery!
This was a fun and entertaining collection of short stories. There were some that stood out from the other and some that fell a little short, but over all I really enjoyed it.

A couple of my favorites:

Perilous Windows of Time - although I may be a little biased. I love all of Charlotte Bronte's work and see her come to life in a fun short story was great! Her time traveling was a lot of fun, and her reaction to the present was genuine. Even though it was a short story, there was good development and I just really enjoyed it.

Demon Days - an interesting and fun story about what might happen if a demon got lose at a book fest. I loved the little minions and Abby's attitude through the whole thing. The side characters had a good dose of personality and it was just a great mix of paranormal with a little bit of laughs.

The remaining stories were not bad, they just didn't stand out like these two did.

The one thing he could do for her was let her go. Until he couldn’t.

When Thieves’ guitarist Shane Jones lost his close friend to a freak accident, Krista Conner helped him through the worst of his grief. He kept their late-night trysts a secret to protect her from the tabloids, and when she broke up with him, he let her go.

But he never got over her.

Months later, his world is rocked again by the death of his brother mere weeks before the biggest Thieves album yet. Grieving and desperate for peace, he tracks Krista down, craving the salvation he found in her sweet spirit. Only this time, he’s determined not to leave.

Krista left Shane because her life was a mess. She’s rebuilt it, piece by challenging piece, making some hard decisions along the way. She’s settled into a new city and a new life, and for the first time in a long time, she’s content and happy. Then Shane turns up, promising to stay, promising to care. Promising everything.
Shane’s the one she wants, but the toughest choice she made could drive him away for good.

Excerpt:
He’d missed the taste of her. Tart and hot and distinctly Krista, like nothing he’d had before and would never have again. He flicked his tongue along the seam of her lips, coaxing her open.
He’d come here for peace, to grieve, to lean on someone who’d let him. But until the moment her lips parted and her tongue met his, he hadn’t wanted to admit he’d come here for her.
She made a whimpering, pleading noise in the back of her throat, and the sexy sound shot through his veins. Closer. He needed her closer. Over him, under him, it didn’t matter. Gliding a hand down her back, he pressed her in, shifting onto his side as her body straightened out and aligned with his. Then, ignoring the sudden pain in his ankle, he rolled them so she was under him.
When her legs parted to cradle his hips, it was like he’d never left. Her legs wound around his waist, her mouth fused to his, her body’s curves and heat and sweetness dragging him out of the dark, the ache disappearing.
He took her mouth, or she took his, it didn’t matter. Over and over, tongues dueling, her hands roaming his back, fingers digging into his shoulders as she arched under him. He dropped kisses along her jaw, suckled the sensitive skin behind her ear, scraping his teeth over it when she gasped. The feel of her obliterated the last remnants of sadness, leaving him wide open and ready for more.
Take her. Take her completely, strip aside her flimsy skirt and panties, sheathe himself in her wet heat. Six long months of craving her and telling himself he’d done the right thing. He’d almost convinced himself they were better off apart. Then Eric died and all he’d thought about was how the world went quiet when she was around.
Lifting his head, he drank in her flushed skin and swollen lips, her eyes hooded and hazy with desire. He’d never seen anything more gorgeous. “Babe.” Slow it down. Stay out of the bedroom, learn her habits and favorites and quirks. No way would either of them be able to say it was just sex.
One side of her mouth quirked up, and he dropped a kiss there. “Guess that was inevitable, huh?” she said.
He propped himself up on his forearms and ignored his throbbing dick and the stabbing pains in his ankle. “Possibly. Not intentional, though. I meant it. I came here because I needed someone who’d have my back.” Needed. The word didn’t sit comfortably.
She lifted a hand to his jaw. “Usually when people need me they end up disappointing me. I think the only one who didn’t was Sara, and that’s probably because everyone else braced themselves with me. She leaned when it was too hard to stand on her own. So did you,” she murmured. “You never asked for more.”
That was about to change. “Krista—”
“Are you going to disappoint me, too?” The fear threading the question gave him pause. It’s what humans did. They disappointed each other. It was inevitable as the two of them on the couch, wrapped around each other.
He struggled to sit up, grimacing when the continued movement jostled his ankle. “That’s a sucker promise, and you know it.”
Her lids snapped shut, mouth tightening. “I know. I’m not going to ask you to make it, because then you will break it. But I don’t want to do this again. You’ve got a life to go back to. Los Angeles isn’t my home anymore.” When her eyes opened, there was sadness there, sadness and resignation. She sat up and swung her legs off the couch. “We don’t work.” She touched her mouth to his, drawing back when he tried to deepen it. “I’m sorry,” she whispered as she stood.
The loss of her touch and warmth had the ache and grief rushing in. He balled his hands into fists, punched down into the couch cushion as she hurried from the room.

Well, he’d wanted slow. He’d just gotten his wish.
