The Noble Man by Shana Galen
In my new release, Earls Just Want to Have Fun, Dane is
a nobleman in every sense of the word. He is a little stuffy, definitely
opinionated, but super sexy. When Dane’s brother Brook drags Marlowe, a
pickpocket, into Dane’s life, his world view is challenged and he can either
sink or swim.
“I thought the idea was to keep the rabble and the criminals
out of Derring House. It’s bad enough one can’t walk the streets without having
one’s pockets emptied, or that highwaymen all but own the roads. A man’s house
should at least be safe.”
Dane does not really understand the world that Marlowe has
been forced to survive in or the people in it. It’s when Dane starts to see
Marlowe as a person that his perception changes. The necessities that he once
took for granted, such as food, clothing, and warmth are luxuries to Marlowe.
Dane learns to appreciate the things he has, and to become aware of something
he does not have–love.
Dane has a few things in common with my Top 5 Noblemen in
film, as they all put aside convention to be with the one they love.
My Top 5 Noblemen from Films!
5. Beast from Beauty and the Beast – A tale as old as time. A young woman trades places with her father to be a hostage of an angry beast. I love this hero for the changes he makes in his life as he falls in love with Belle and realizes that he can overcome his inner beast.
4. Prince Charming from Cinderella – Once upon the time, a sweet and kind young lady is treated like a servant in her own home by an evil stepmother and two horrid stepsisters. Prince Charming does not say much in the Disney version, but he whisks Cinderella away from her life, with a little help from a fairy godmother. I love this hero for his persistence in finding Cinderella after she runs away, and for not letting her real circumstances change his mind about her.
3. Prince Edvard from The Prince and Me – Paige Morgan a pre-med student in Wisconsin meets Eddie a Danish exchange student and brings him home for Thanksgiving. Love ensues, but is complicated by the revelation that “Eddie” is Edvard a Prince, playing hooky from his duties. I love Edvard because he's so unpretentious. It doesn't matter to him that he's a prince and Paige is just a commoner. He puts all that aside because he falls in love with her.
2. Mr. Knightley from Emma – Mr. Knightly is the respectable older friend to the matchmaking Emma. While Emma is busy making matches for others, Mr. Knightly is there for her as a friend. A misunderstanding occurs and the friendship turns to love. I love Mr. Knightley because he loves Emma despite her flaws. He accepts her for who she is and even loves her because of her foibles.
1. Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice – Mr. Darcy is the quintessential gentleman caller, and Regency fan favorite. He is proud, judgmental and yet is able to see past his prejudices and fall in love with Elizabeth Bennett. How can you not love Mr. Darcy when he says things like, "You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you." Swoon! And "You are too generous to trifle with me. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged." A man who loves even when rejected and has no hope of reciprocation--that's a truly noble man.

Genre: Historical Romance
His heart may be the last thing she ever steals...
Marlowe is a pickpocket, a housebreaker-and a better actress
than any professional on the stage. She runs with the Covent Garden Cubs, a
gang of thieves living in the slums of London's Seven Dials. It's a fierce
life, and Marlowe has a hard outer shell. But when she's alone, she allows
herself to think of a time before-a dimly remembered life when she was called
Elizabeth.
Maxwell, Lord Dane, is intrigued when his brother, a hired
investigator, ropes him into his investigation of the fiercely beautiful
hellion. He teaches her to navigate the social morass of the ton, but Marlowe
will not escape so easily. Instead, Dane is drawn into her dangerous world,
where the student becomes the teacher and love is the greatest risk of all.
Author Biography
Shana Galen is the bestselling author of passionate Regency
romps, including the RT Reviewers' Choice The Making of a Gentleman. Kirkus

suspenseful and fun," and RT Bookreviews calls her books "
lighthearted yet poignant, humorous yet touching." She taught English at
the middle and high school level off and on for eleven years. Most of those years
were spent working in Houston's inner city. Now she writes full time. She's
happily married and has a daughter who is most definitely a romance heroine in
the making. Shana loves to hear from readers, so send her an email or see what

ReplyDeleteI don't know if he is considered a nobleman, but how about Colonel Brandon in Sense & Sensibility? He has a major crush on Marianne & even though she continuously rejects him, he is still honorable with her & her family.
