Interview with author Kathy Kulig, giveaway of Desert of the Damned

I happy to have with us today Kathy Kulig, erotic paranormal and contemporary author. Please give her a fangtastic welcome.

BbPR-Would you please tell us a little about yourself?

Kathy- Like most writers, I’m nuts about books, always have been. Even at a young age, I was a huge fan of Sci-fi, fantasy and ghost stories. Which is probably why I tend to write more paranormal. I later got hooked on romance and would read them by the shopping bag-full. I enjoy the outdoors and traveling. I’ve skied, hiked, gone on bike marathons, mountain biked and also worked as a dive master. Originally, I’m a Jersey girl, but I’ve lived in NY State, Colorado, Florida and now Pennsylvania. My writing career started out in newspapers and magazines. I have over three dozen articles published. More recently, I got into fiction and have three novels, two novellas and a number of short stories published.

BbPR-What type of books do you write?

Kathy- I write paranormal, contemporary and erotic romance for Ellora’s Cave. My stories have adventure, can be edgy and always have a happily ever after.

BbPR-Who are some of your favorite authors?

Kathy- I read a variety of books but to name a few: JR Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Christine Feehan. I’m also a thriller fan: Barry Eisler and David Morrell.

BbPR-Which is easier to write male or female characters?

Kathy- I think they both have their challenges. I don’t know that one is harder than the other. Women and men think, talk and react differently and I have to remember that when writing them.

BbPR-What is your favorite paranormal creature?

Kathy- Oh, this is a fun question. I could say I haven’t made him up yet. I make up new ones with each book, many times based on folklore or myth with my own twist. In my Demons in Exile series, I’d have to say Dante is my favorite. He surprised me and became something I wasn’t expecting. And I had my series completely outlined. The events in the last two books changed him. In the final book, I have some extra surprises planned.

BbPR-For those who have never read your Damned and Desired eBook, can you tell them a little about it?

Kathy- Damned and Desired is Book 2 of the Demons in Exiled series from Ellora’s Cave. Here’s the blurb: She’s a demon, he’s a shapeshifting leopard. From their first meeting in the Arizona desert, passion ignites and trouble begins. As a demon, Sakari Lock must harvest lifeforce energy through sexual seductions to sustain her exiled world. But when Sakari meets Brad, she breaks the number one rule of Anartia—don’t get personal with your quarry.

Physician’s assistant Brad Montag is drawn to Sakari’s lustful advances with a blazing desire he can’t explain, unaware of how dangerous she is. No matter how enticing, she’s a complication he doesn’t need until he can conquer his past and regain control of his shapeshifting abilities. Sex this wicked and good can only lead to disaster.
When immortals from an alternate dimension try to free their exiled world, Brad is caught in the middle of a battle that could destroy not only him, but the land he loves.

BbPR-Desert of the Damned and Damned and Desired are related. Can these be read as stand alone or is there an order to read these? Do you plan on writing more?

Kathy- Damned and Desired is Book 2 of my Demons in Exile series. Book One is Desert of the Damned. Yes, the two books are stand alone and can be read out of order. I’m working on the third book in the series now. The title is not set yet.

BbPR-With all the social networking online now a day‘s, do you find it hard to keep up with it all and write too?

Kathy-I give a workshop on social networking. I can get carried away with Twitter, Facebook, blogging and the loops. They are a necessary evil to reach readers and network. The best think is to limit you time—set a timer if you have to. I do email and social networking until 7:30pm, then exit out and start writing. Otherwise, I’d never get any writing done since I work a day job. I also get up early on the weekends, sometimes as early at 4-4:30am.

BbPR-Can you give us a little on what you’re working on now?

Kathy- I have another erotic shapeshifting book that’s about completed and I’m working on the third in the Demons in Exile series.

BbPR-Anything else you would like to share?

Kathy- Laurie, Thank you so much for having me as a guest. If the readers would like to learn more or link up socially, please visit my website. On my Contact page are all my links to Facebook, Twitter, etc. I also blog most Wednesdays with the Danger Zone Authors.

Thank you so much Kathy!!

  1. I love shapeshifter books and I noticed that yours include cat shifters. Are the other books going to also include cats, or are any other types of shifters going to make an appearance?
