Book description:
The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.
He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together...
Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

Sexual HOT! It takes a while before it gets started.
First off let me say this, I have only read a little over half of the first Night Huntress Novel, so I really know nothing about Cat and Bones. In saying this I will not be comparing between them. I’m one that prefers PNR over UF. So, I was very pleased with First Drop of Crimson.
I love a book with a bad gorgeous vampire, Spike fit that bill for me. This book has just about all the elements for a good PNR, it has lots blood fighting action, adventure, some humor, traveling, family, friends and throw in hot sex with a vampire, you have a great PNR book.
**Spoilers**
Denise family members starts dying with a mysterious hart attracts. One night she is with one relatives and the killer comes after him, Denise see who and how it happens. So, she thinks it a vampire and tries to call Cat and Bones for help with no avail she calls Spike. She meets the demon in her home and he tell's her why he is killing her family and what will happen if she doesn’t do his bidding. Spike comes to find out what is going on and finds Denise with demon brands on her. Denise spills what happened to Spike, so he agrees to help. This is were their adventure starts trying to find a old relative, so no more relatives will die, this is not going to be easy to do, Spike discovers something about Denise that he has to hide and bargain with at the sometime just find the relative that's responsible for it all.
I liked Spike a lot he is in this quest to help Denise for the long hall and gives a lot to help her. I would have like to read Denise not being so wimpy (you know oh woo is me) this is the reason I gave 4 not 5 stars. I liked how the romance was written between Spike and Denise wasn’t rushed or real slow. I loved the shower scene totally hot! and how Spike brought it up to Denise that he knew she was watching.
o0o0o Spade is hawt ... especially cover Spade ... mmmmmmMmmm! But seriously, wow, if you ever do finish the Night Huntress series ... if you think Spade does it for you, Bones is omgwtfsuperdroolworthy (",).

I loved this one! The shower scene was delish but I found Denise a little annoying. I hope Jeaniene Frost writes a book for Ian. He’s my favorite :)

I loved this book! I love Cat and Bones (BTW, I can't believe you haven't read them all!) but I loved Spike and Denise and a little different story. It had less sex then most of the Cat and Bones books, but that was okay. I'm more of a UF girl but love the PNR.
ReplyDeleteFound your blog on the blog hop! Looks like we have much the same taste in books!

ReplyDeleteMama Bookwarm- Deneise about killed me at times, I reall didnt like her. Thanks for the award:)
Candace-Thanks for the sex tip, I felt there was less sex then most PNR, but it was good. You know I did try the fist book and when Bones left I quit reading mostly because most UF books the two never stays together they are always with another girl/guy, I have a hard enough time keeping up with Sookie! but now that I know Cat and Bones stays together, I will read them soon:) Thanks for hopping by.
