Special double feature this month for New blood book blogger on the block

I have a special treat for everyone today. I have two close friends that have started book review blogs. I asked them if they would like to participate in the New blood book blogger on the block, of course, they said yes! So, please welcome Ronda aka Queentutt and Vanessa aka thejeepdiva.

theJeepDiva   reads a little of this and a little of that. She loves everything form Steven King to zombies, if you throw in some hot erotic sex she is good to go. I have to say though she is ready for the zombie apocalypse, so much so it wouldn't surprise me if she has a zombie monthly feature on her blog LOL. Oh snap, there you go chick a good idea for you lol.

Tell us a little about yourself?
I have an extreme case of CDO (yep, I alphabetized my OCD.) I love cruising country back roads in my Jeep with my camera and taking tons of photographs. I’m from South Louisiana, relocated to Tennessee in February of 2010. So everyone thinks I talk funny. I have been married for nearly 10 years and we have 8 fur kids. Oh, yeah…. I LOVE TO READ.

How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?

Started reading in high school, stopped for a bit during college, got back into reading when time allowed after college. I recently became a heavy reader again in the spring of 2009. The job I had at the time required me to be there for 40 hours even though I only worked probably 10-15 hours. The management did not mind if I brought a book to read. I have not gone back to work since my husband & I moved in January of 2010, so now I have an abundance of time to read.

My favorite genre is paranormal romance. I also read some sci fi romance and have recently become obsessed with zombie apocalypse. I also enjoy some urban fantasy. I am a huge Stephen King fan. I guess I am all over the place with the books I read.

When and why did you start doing book reviews?

I wrote a few reviews on goodreads.com prior to the starting of the blog. I noticed I was only reviewing books that I did not like (so not fair.) I’m going to guess that spring of 2010 I started reviewing all the books I read on goodreads. As to why, who knows, I have an abundance of time on my hands. How long have you been reviewing books?

I’ve been reviewing books for about a year now.

Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?
ABSOLUTELY! I keep them in a composition notebook. After I am done reading the book I move the important notes into my Collector Z book database under the appropriate book.
Why did you start a book blog?

One of the panels at Readers N Ritas Dallas 2010 was “Writing book reviews for free books.” That was what started the blogging. I now do the blogging because I enjoy the socializing with other book loving individuals. The beginning was hopes for free books.

How long does it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?
I can typically start a 400 page book in the morning when I get up and have it and the review finished by the time I go to bed that evening. This does depend on if my husband is at work and if I have to leave the house for some reason.

What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?
Name. I wanted some cute catchy name. Oh well. I’m the Jeep Diva, so I am just going to keep rocking that. I am still trying to figure out the whole button thingy. I WANT ONE and I have no clue how to make one. I even googled up several how to’s. I am oblivious on how to do it.

What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since your started your blog?
I did a happy dance all around my house one afternoon when an author commented on my Facebook page that she though the “About Me” on my blog was funny.

What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?
Yay for stalking posts. I have an abundance of spare time so I go to quite a few signings and book cons.

Any tips, for a new upcoming book blogger?
Do not buy the book Google Blogger for Dummies. EVERYTHING in that book is something that you can figure out easily on your own.

What are the most books you read in a week?
6 and in June of 2010 I read 27 books.

Quick questions
Spoilers or no spoilers?
Nope, I HATE spoilers. I will point out in a review that if I mention something it would be a spoiler, so I guess I am a bit of a tease…he he

Author interviews or guest post?

Not yet, I have had an offer for a guest blogger and I recently had an author offer to answer any questions I may have about her books in an email. I have been thinking about asking her to do an author interview on my blog. I was waiting to talk to my blogger guru friend Laurie at bittenbyparanormalromance.com about some how to’s behind that.

Long reviews or short reviews?

That really depends on the book. I do tend to be lengthy though. I try to give an overall feel of the book, then what I thought of the main couple, and then I move into what’s next for that author/series.

Kindle or Sony -reader?

Kindle. The Hub bought it for me when I did NOT win a contest that I had entered on an author’s Facebook page. He felt that I should have been the winner, so he went out and got me one. He’s a sweetie!

Paperback or PDF?

PAPER. I like actual tangible books. I buy most of my books from used indie stores.

Queentutt You may recognize Queentutt, she has been a reviewer here on the blog for a while now. Her blog is all about romance *clears throat * I mean hot monkey sex LOL.Oh ya, your'll find all kinds of erotica on her blog with the added little of this and that.

Tell us a little about yourself?
Hi Laurie, thanks for having me on the blog.   My blog is called Queentutt’s World of Escapism http://wwwqueentuttsworldofescapism.blogspot.com/    I am an avid reader who loves to blog and review the many books that I read.  I love focusing my life around entertainment whether it is through reading, movies, or music.  Life in general can be such a bummer at times and the best way for me to escape the insanity is through these entertainments.  Family is important to me too.  I have three grown children and they have currently blessed me with 3 grandsons.  I am married to my best friend and together we enjoy life as much as possible by traveling, fishing, gardening, animals, BBQ-ing, watching sports – especially football (Go Dallas Cowboys), and watching movies.

How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?
Growing up I wasn’t much into reading because of either sports or my military career but once I retired in 1998 my time seem to free up some and I would read about 3 books a year due to the kids being so involved in sports and school activities.  But then in 2006, the last kid graduated and I found myself with nothing to do so I started picking up books and reading constantly to fill the void of missing my kids.  So it’s been 5 years since I have steadily been reading. My favorite genres are Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Erotic.  I don’t really do Young Adult Reads and prefer erotica in most of my reads.  I do read M/F/M and M/M reads as well.

When and why did you start doing book reviews?
Actually, doing reviews was a natural thing for me to do because I consider it like taking notes to whether it was a good book or not and it reminded me what the book was really about.  Usually if I rated it a 4 or 5 star than I considered it a book I would probably read again.  Not only that but my friends could see what I thought about the book and then judge for themselves if they would enjoy it.

How long have you been reviewing books?
It’s been 5 years now and I will always review every book I look at.

Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?
Sometimes I do especially if it is a book over 500 pages.

Why did you start a book blog?
I started a blog because I was mainly posting my reviews on goodreads.com and then I started doing reviews for you Laurie (Bitten By Paranormal Romance) and found that I really enjoyed the interaction between the followers and the authors.  It’s a great feeling when you get wonderful comments regarding your reviews.  Then I enjoyed the interaction from going to other blogs and making comments on the different blogs.  So I figured I should start a blog on my own.  It’s not real big and it’s just for fun blog of the many things I enjoy.

How long does it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?
I can usually read a book within a couple of days and then it takes me about 30 minutes to write up a review and get it posted to the blog.  I think I am doing good when I push out 3 books a week and great when I do 5 books a week.

What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?
It can be time consuming especially in the beginning because of the learning how everything works concept of the blog.  I think the hardest thing to learn was finding the right gadgets, widgets, and different tools to use to make the appearance of the blog look nice.

What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since your started your blog?
The most exciting thing that has happened to me is getting followers and hearing back from the authors I have done a review for.  Their great comments is what makes me want to continue with the reviews I do and read more of their books.

What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?
I love music and erotic pictures and it is always neat when I come across something to share with my followers.  I am hoping to start doing some book giveaways soon and that is always fun to giveaway stuff.

Any tips, for a new upcoming book blogger?
Patience and time are a key factor in blogging.  It takes time to build up to how you want your blog to actually look like you want it and the more time you spend on it and the more money you put into it the better the success.

What are the most books you read in a week?
I think the most I read in a week was 5 books.  20 books a month.

New blood book blogger on the block interview Lori from Romancing the Darkside

Everyone please welcome my new blood book blog on the block for March. It's Lori from Romancing the Darkside

Laurie-Tell us a little about yourself?

Lori-Hey everyone and thanks for having me! I'm a  single NYC girl who is currently between jobs and dedicating her spare time to catching up on lost reading time! I'm a compulsive book buyer who definitely would have a seat with my name on it in a Book Addicts Anonymous meeting if there was such a thing.

Laurie-How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?

Lori-I've been reading since I was about 5 years old. Reading was always a passion for me and I always had a book or two in my hands.
My favorite genre is paranormal romance, especially vampire paranormal romance...I love vampires!

Laurie-When and why did you start doing book reviews?

Lori-I started writing reviews when I joined Shelfari to share my love or dislike for the books I read with friends and other members. I always find it helpful when someone gives their honest opinion of a book and hope my reviews help others in deciding whether to read a book or not

Laurie-How long have you been reviewing books?
Lori-I've been reviewing books for almost three years.

Laurie-Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?

Lori-I don't usually take notes while I read but I'll bookmark or tag a quote I really like to incorporate in my review.

Laurie-Why did you started a book blog?

Lori-I started a book blog to share my love of books with fellow book lovers and friends. I was reviewing for another site for a little bit but decided to do something on my own and review the books I love to read. I also love meeting other book lovers!

Laurie-How long doest it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?

Lori-It takes me 1-2 days to read a book if I don't have distractions. A review can take anywhere from an hour to a full day. Sometimes I know exactly what I want to write and there are times that I need a little time to reflect before I start writing.

Laurie-What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?

Lori-The hardest thing in setting up my blog was coming up with its name! Once I had that everything else just fell into place. It's still a work in progress but I'm having fun working on it.

Laurie-What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since your started your blog?

Lori-Being asked to do this interview has been the most exciting thing to happen to me since I started my blog! I wasn't expecting this since my blog is really new.  I hope to have author interviews and get to chat with some of my fave authors soon!

Laurie-What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?

Lori-I love to post the weekly meme's I participate in and I really love to read comments posted, it's great when someone takes their time to write a great comment, it makes the blogging experience worthwhile!

Laurie-Any tips that you have for a new up coming book blogger?

Lori-Have fun and stay true to yourself. Some bloggers read quickly and post a new review every day and some read slower and review one or two a week...never feel the need to compete with others...do things at your own pace!

Laurie-What’s the most books you read in a week?

Lori-The most I read in a week is 3-4 books, I can squeeze in more if they're novellas.

Quick questions

 Spoilers or no spoilers
No spoilers!

Long reviews or short reviews?
Short reviews...I want people to read the book for themselves!
Kindle or Sony -reader?
 Neither...I'm a Nook girl.

 Paperback.

Fell free to check Lori's blog out and follow, I do.

New blood book blogger on the block interview

Please welcome Crystal from Paranormal Romance Addict .

Laurie-Hello Crystal, thanks so much for being here and being the New blood book blogger for this month. Would you please tell us a little about yourself?
Crystal-Thanks for having me Laurie this is so exciting!
Hi! *vampire kiss-kiss*, my name is Crystal and I’m a 28 year old Florida girl. I’m married and a stay at home momma to a five-year-old daughter and three-year-old son. And of course, I’m a total bookworm!

Laurie-How long have you been reading? What’s your favorite genre?
Crystal-I've been reading since I was about seven, my mom says that I’ve always had my nose stuck in a book. My favorite genre is paranormal romance of course!

Laurie-When and why did you start doing book reviews?
Crystal-I started doing reviews on my other blog, Reading Between the Wines Book Club, towards the end of last year. But since paranormal romance is what I mainly read and my all time reading love I decided to create a blog solely dedicated to that and here we are.
I started reviewing books because I’m constantly reading and I love gushing about great books that I find and recommending them to others. And the hubs starts tuning me out after a while when I subject him to this. hehe

Laurie-How long have you been reviewing books?
Crystal-About five months.

Laurie-Do you take notes for your reviews while you read?
Crystal-Sometimes I do, on ARC’s and requests mostly.

Laurie-Why did you start a book blog?
Crystal-Because I really am addicted to paranormal romance, just ask the hubs!
I wanted a place that I could discuss that and nothing else with others who share my love. I’ve also found that it’s a great way to find new authors and keep up-to-date on news and releases.

Laurie-How long does it usually take you to read and write a review for your blog?
Crystal-Read: 1-2 days
Write Review: An hour or two, unless I’m having a hard time putting it together, then I might come back and try again later or the next day. I’m a better reader then I am a writer. =)

Laurie-What’s the hardest thing you had to do in setting up your blog?
Crystal-Trying to come up with something unique with the layout and banner/buttons. There are just so many of us book bloggers out there using the same resources it was a bit difficult and I hope I accomplished my goal. *fingers crossed*

Laurie-What’s the most exciting thing that has happened to you since you started your blog?
Crystal-Conversing with new author Dianne Duvall via email and getting to read an arc of her upcoming release Darkness Dawns. She’s such a sweetie and a fabulous writer.

That is a huge joy of book blogging for me, getting to meet new authors and find even more great books to read!

Laurie-What’s your favorite thing to do on your blog?
Crystal-Posting author and book news; I get so excited when I learn something new about a favorite author or series, I love sharing it with others.

Laurie-Any tips that you have for a new upcoming book blogger?
Crystal-If you build it they will come…LoL
Don’t worry about your follower count; followers will come with time. Just enjoy what you do and have fun. And don’t be afraid to ask for help from your fellow bloggers if you need it, most of us are nice and willing to lend a hand. =)

Laurie-What are the most books you read in a week?
Crystal-Probably about ten. I read Christine Feehans Dark Carparthian series in about 2 weeks, which were 20 books at the time.

Quick questions:

Novembers New blood book blogger on the block

Kristen @  My Bloody Fairy Tale is Novembers New blood book blogger on the block. You can chat with Kristen here today and please when your done reading make sure you check out her blog.

Laurie- Hello Kirsten, thanks so much for being the New Blood on the block for November. Would you tell everyone a little about yourself?

Kirsten-Hey Laurie. Thanx for having me this is so exciting for me! I am a 22 year old mother of 3 fantastic little boys! I work part time as a cleaner for

my townhouse complex. I love reading and writing. My kids have also inherited my love for reading!!

Laurie-How or why did you start your book blog?

Kirsten-I started my book blog because I love reading and I thought that this would be a great way to meet people who also sharemy love for reading. I also thought it would be a great way to find new authors who I haven't heard about.

And to be honest I didn't realize there were so many fanatics like me :D

Laurie-What are some of your favorite book blogs you follow?

Kirsten-I love Parajunkee's blog, Touch the Night, Roxanne's Realm, Seductive Musings, Jennifers Musings and Romance Book Junkies

Oh and Did I mention yours *wink* There are alot of blogs that I love reading but the list is to long to tell them all.

Laurie-What kind of books do you read?
Kirsten-I love any genre but my favorite genre is Paranormal romance. Well Paranormal anything actually lol.

Laurie-What is the hardest thing you found in starting your blog?

Kirsten-I found it really hard to be unique. I found myself trying to write what I thought other people
want to read.I was writing for everyone else except for myself in the beginning.

Laurie-If you can give one piece of advice to a new book blogger what would it be?

Kirsten-I would advise any new blogger to not worry about your amount of followers. I found myself doing that. I also would advise a new blogger to write what you are comfortable writing. Do not try to please people. Write because you want to write it. People will enjoy your blog more once you make it yours.

Thanks again Kirsten!

New blood book blogger on the block

I wanted to start something new to help upcoming blogs that are followers. I know how bad it is to get followers. So I hoping this will help a few fellow bloggers during the year to get stated. I am calling this New Blood book blogger on the block. If you would like to participate keep reading you'll find out how LOL....

I recently had a lady Lydia (code name lonewolf) commenting on my blog. She made a book blog for herself, now named Paranromal Reads . As she kept commenting I starting to follow her blog. She email me one day for some help with her blog, I love to help when I can. Well little did I know how much my blog influenced her until I asked her to do this new ideal I have to be the New Blood on the Block.

I want to welcome Lydia, she will be stopping by later today, so if you want to ask her a question feel free to.

Laurie-Hello Lydia. Thanks so much for coming on my blog today. Now would you tell us a little about yourself?
Lydia-Thanks for having me Laurie. Okay, a little about me. I'm an inspiring writer, I've worked on some of my own stories, but I haven't been published yet. Don't worry, I haven't given up hope. When I'm not writing, or doing homework, I'm reading like crazy. The funny thing is that I used to hate English. The thought of it made me gag. *smiles* I think my English teacher from middle school would be surprised to find out that I'm a book lover now.

Laurie-Would you tell us about your blog?

Lydia-Sure. My blog is about paranormal books. They don't have to be romance (though i do love me some romance) but they have to be paranormal; vampires, werewolves, witches and wizards, dragons, ghosts, zombies. Well, I haven't read a story about zombies yet, but there's always time. Anyway, I read books and give my review on them - most of the time the books turn out good - and I'll either recommend it or not. I also have a little thing I call Delicious Photo of the Week on the side that I'll change every Friday. It's just a little eye candy for the blog. You always need eye candy. *grins*

Laurie-How long have you been blogging?

Lydia-Um, since June 2010.

Laurie-Why did you start your book blog?

Lydia-You. I read an interview you did on Kate Douglas and fell in love with your blog, so I made my account to follow you. I'll be honest that at first I was in for the giveaways you were doing that week (which I won one), but then I read your reviews and loved it more. Then I saw your Humorous Paranormal Challenge and wanted to do it, since I was really into reading, and wanted to do what you were doing. I wanted to read the books, review them, and let people in on what the books were like. At first it was only for the challenge, but I liked doing it and wanted to continue doing it after the challenge, so I did.

Laurie-What’s been the hardest thing to do in starting your blog?

Lydia-The design. Oh my God was that a lot of work, and it wasn't even that good in the beginning, but it was a start I guess. Once I got some pointers from a certain someone - Laurie - I got my blog in order and now I love it.

Laurie-What one advice would you give to an upcoming book blogger?

Lydia-Be patient. Your blog isn't going to come together overnight and you're not going to get the number of followers you want overnight either. You're definitely going to want to follow and look at other book blogs to get an idea on how to do it. Sorry, I guess that was two pieces of advice. Most importantly, be patient.

Laurie-What are some of your favorite books?

Lydia-Oh come on Laurie. That's not fair. That's not a fair question. I don't want to leave any out, but I'll answer as best I can. Let's see . . . there's Blink Of An Eye by Ted Dekker, Dogs and Goddesses by Jennifer Crusie, Anna Stuart, Lani Diane Rich, Indigo by Graham Joyce,The Nightwalker series by Jacquelyn Frank, Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, Ghost Hunter series by Victoria Laurie, and the Detective Kara Gillian series by Diana Rowland.

Laurie-What are some of your favorite authors?

Lydia-Another unfair question, Laurie. But I'll answer as best as I can again. There are a lot so some are; Jacquelyn Frank, Patricia Briggs, Diana Rowland, Kathy Love, JR Ward, Linda Howard, Ted Dekker, Lori Foster, Victoria Laurie, and more but I won't go on.

Laurie-Is there a special genre you like best to read?

Lydia-Of course, paranormal. There's also urban fantasy and . . . BDSM erotica. There's something about BDSM that appeals to me. I think its with how a submissive can have total trust in their Dom that they completely let go and let their Dom push them to a pleasure they've never known. The first one I ever read was Skin Deep by Anna J. Evans and it was hot.

If you enjoyed this interview stop by Paranormal Reads and follow if you leave a comment on the post she made she will be glad to follow back she is like me always looking for new books to read!

Would you like to participate in the New blood on the block?
Here is the rules
