Review: Escaping Love by Debra Smith

Title: Escaping Love (Koning Clan #2)
Author: Debra Smith
Source: Author
Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance
Length: short novel (165pgs)
Reviewer: CaroleDee

Eva, a rare white panther, is desperate to avoid her family and their expectations. Hundreds of years of tradition force her to run to the newly appointed Queen only to find her gone. Hopelessness causes her to invoke the right of Hospitality and everything that goes with it, including the mouthwatering lupine cowboy with talented hands. When he whispers her name she’s tempted to submit as long as he meets her every desire.

Clint, the beta wolf of the Koning Clan, is tired of troublesome females walking through the doors of Gryph’s Bar. The last one changed history. Now, a small, seductive feline grates on his nerves and beckons his primitive instincts. Even though she’s trouble, her taste drives him to addiction. Law dictates he must protect her, but the way she calls to his beast may lead to their undoing. As a male with no knowledge of his past how can they have a future?

Another great shifter read from Debra Smith.

The second in the Koning Clan books is filled with just as much action, but is longer than the first, so you get more 'bite' to the story. The relationship between Clint and Eva progresses at a fairly decent pace for a shorter novel. You get the insta-attraction, but also the wooing and courtship that's usually lacking in shorter stories. When things do start rolling it's scorching! Eva and Clint are well matched. Eva doesn't play the 'distressed' heroine in the sexual situations. The lady knows what she wants and makes sure Clint give it to her :)

There's also a fun little twist towards the end that made me laugh up a storm :)
*Just remember Gus*

My one complaint would be that when someone's mysterious past is revealed, the reader doesn't get the whole story. It seemed like a plot twist added in to make the end doable. (I know that all sounds very vague, but I hate spoilers!) Hopefully in a future installment, more details will be given to satisfy my curiosity.

In all Escaping Love is  a fun and sexy after-dinner shifter read that's sure to entertain :)

Be sure to check out Transforming Love
Book one in the Koning Clan Series

Jenny never expected her thirst for freedom to lead to her capture. Family secrets prevent her from running from the only man tempting enough to make her submit to her body's desires.

Gryph is dark, sexy, and determined to win Jenny in the Slag, a contest revered by his kind. As the leader of his Clan he's used to getting his way, until her. Can he give Jenny her freedom while winning her heart?

  1. Sounds like a great read but I'm not a huge fan of really short reads.

    Thanks for the great review!

  2. I would warn readers that there is anal sex in this story. I know not everyone likes reading that stuff.
