I'm going to try my best to write this review without giving away any spoilers from the two previous Devil DeVere books.  I will say that if you haven't read them:

1. You are missing out

2. You're not going to feel as emotionally attached to the characters

We first hear of Lady Diana Palmerston-Wriothesley in A Wild Night's Bride, though merely in a passing conversation between Ned and the Viscount DeVere you get an idea things are a bit more complicated between the Viscount and Diana.  

In The Virgin Huntress  Diana's character is expanded upon as Vesta's surrogate mother/companion.  While doing her duty as chaperone to her willful charge she is thrust into the company of the Viscount where plenty of questions arise about their relationship.  Why does Diana dislike him so much? Is it merely because of his status as a rake or is it something more personal? 

WELL! Venture back 5 years with me in The Devil You Know where we meet a still married Diana who is visiting one of the Viscount's estates with her cousin Annalise and her husband Ned.  She's been living the last ten years married to a man that makes her feel unwanted, unloved, and undesirable.  When the Viscount makes her feel all of those things with a simple glance, she knows she's in trouble.  

The Devil DeVere series is like a juicy soap opera I can't seem to turn off! It has love, lust, murder, suicide, and a mystery just waiting to be solved.  I can't wait for the conclusion of Diana and Viscount Ludovic DeVere's story when we travel back to 1783 in The Devil's Match.
