Please welcome Villain # 5 Amon!
Interview with Amon Kalins from Stolen Destiny
Gabrielle: Thanks
Laurie for having us here today during Villains Week! I'm here with Amon Kalins, the villain from
my first book, Stolen Destiny. Here's the blurb to give readers a sense of the
story and Amon himself.
Released from Nil to
find a murderer, a prison-hardened Varek Leale is convinced no woman deserves
the man he’s become, but his Aeveren destiny makes him succumb to sweet and
sexy Callia Reynolds. To catch the murderer, they turn to Amon Kalins, an
ancient Aeveren with the power to control time. But Amon isn’t a man to trifle
with and when he wants something, he’ll use his considerable powers,
devastating charm, and good looks to get it.
What Amon wants is Callia. When he manipulates time and seduces Callia away, Varek must turn to the people who set him free for help to get her back. But the Council doesn’t do anything without requiring something in return, and what they want is Amon Kalins, one of the most powerful Aeveren ever. Varek will do what he must to capture him and find Callia because if he doesn’t, she’ll be lost to him for untold lifetimes.
Amon, why don't you tell the readers something about
yourself?
Amon: My pleasure,
Gabrielle. I'm Amon Kalins and I'm an
Aeveren with tempuster powers, among others.
I can manipulate time. If I want
it to stop, then it stops. If I want to
travel back in time and change something, it's changed. If I want time to slow down or speed up, all
I have to do is will it to do so and it's done.
Gabrielle:
Impressive. And your other
powers?
Amon: I can sense
what others are thinking along with a few other minor mental powers.
Gabrielle: So you can
read minds?
Amon: Something like
that. For example, you're wondering why
you chose to meet me here at my house in the middle of nowhere instead of where
you originally wanted to meet.
Gabrielle: Amon,
don't do that. I don't like when you do
that to me.
Amon: It is Villains
Week, Gabrielle. Not heroes. If it were that, I'd be nice, but since
you're holding me up as a villain, I might as well play the part.
Gabrielle: Would it
surprise you that out of all my villains, you're the one I fear the most?
Amon: No. Those other villains are mere humans or
vampires. At least the vamps have some
special abilities, but they're nothing compared to what I bring to the
table. But you don't have to be
frightened of me, Gabrielle. I owe you
my life for bringing my story to people.
I would never hurt you.
Gabrielle: Nice to
know. So do you like being seen as a
villain?
Amon: I don't mind
it. In Stolen Destiny, I went back in
time and stole Callia from Varek. I
think that pretty much solidifies my spot in the Villain Hall of Fame. I would have gotten away with it too if those
Council fucks hadn't given Varek a few of their tricks.
Gabrielle: Do you
feel bad about what you did?
Amon: I've changed a
little since then, so I see it wasn't something I should have done. The problem is that with great power comes
great...what is it?
Gabrielle:
Responsibility.
Amon: Yeah, that's a
problem for me. I've always had the
ability to manipulate time, so it's hard to not take advantage of it.
Gabrielle: But you
were a changed man in your book, Destiny Redeemed.
Amon: Bad men never really
change, Gabrielle. They just find a
woman they love who will tolerate their badness. Thea is the world to me, but I'm still the
same bad man you met two years ago.
Gabrielle: I don't
think readers see it that way.
Amon: I don't
know. If they think I'm all sweet and
nice in Destiny Redeemed, they aren't reading the same story I am.
Gabrielle: I think
the falling in love with Thea fools them into thinking you're a good man.
Amon: Again, I'm
still the same man I've always been. I
just happen to have a good woman who loves me.
But that doesn't make me a good man.
Gabrielle: I think
that kind of complexity sounds quite human, Amon.
Amon: Aeveren,
Gabrielle. Aeveren.
Gabrielle: Thanks for
stopping by, Amon. It's been interesting,
as always.
Amon: Anytime for
you.

I love the "villians week". Its always nice to see another view point than the hero...But I always root for the hero. Thanks for the interview
ReplyDeleteHI Allie! I'm the same way, and since I loved writing Amon so much, I made him the hero in Destiny Redeemed. Love the HEA!
ReplyDeleteVery cool interview with Amon. I enjoy Villians Week!!!! Love reading different point of views!!! :-) Thanks for the awesome giveaway & the chance to win!!!! :-)

smile_1773@yahoo.com
like the interview very much. can a person truely change his spots. its nice to think so, to change a villian into the hero. thats wonderful story telling, so i'll have to see if i can go from booing a villian, to loving a hero. like the villian week
ReplyDeleteI've got Destiny Redeemed, so I've seen Amon starring in his own book, but I'm curious to read Stolen Destiny. Sometimes, villains are just evil, other times, they aren't necessarily so.

I think I have Destiny Redeemed in my Kindle App but I haven't had a chance to read it yet. i'm sure it will be worth the wait though :D

Very fun to get to know the bad-guys of the stories! Thanks for the visit!

This was a great interview. I think Gabrielle's right with the we as readers think the bad guys turn good when they fall in love thing. Having read Destiny Redeemed I know that Amon is a bad guy but it's hard for me to see him that way.
