Raised on
books from a young age, Catherine was destined to be a writer. She was always a
dreamer, always lost in some other world, and now she has finally started to
write about it.Catherine writes for Suite101, Write and Share, and is a keen blogger alongside writing the sequel to 'Love Hurts' and several other works in progress.
Aside from writing Catherine is a Medium and ghost hunter, a crafter and a married mother of one. She also loves dogs and has an adorable Staffydoodle.
Would you tell us a
little about yourself?
My name is
Catherine Green, I am a married mother of one with a dog and two pet turtles,
and I am a bookaholic! I read voraciously, I study Tarot, and I blog regularly
about writing, mothering, paranormal and occult interests. My main blog site is

professional Tarot reader for http://www.spirit-sisters.co.uk. I
enjoy ghost hunting, reading, family walks by the canal, attending Mind, Body
and Spirit events, and I make greetings cards and bead jewelry as a hobby.
What inspires you to
write?
Lots of
things! Usually it is people I meet socially, along with their situations and
circumstances. I will look at someone and wonder how their life might be if
they were a vampire or werewolf. This includes such ‘normal’ activities as
caring for a family, running a household, or working in a human environment. My
Muse also wakes up when I take the dog and baby for long walks by our local
canal and river.
What are some of your favorite author’s and some of your
favorite books you’ve
read?
Ooh, so many
to choose from! Recently I have become slightly obsessed with the myth of
Camelot after reading Lancelot and the Wolf and Lancelot and the
Sword by Sarah Luddington. These books are the first two in a series which
look at the relationship between Sir Lancelot and King Arthur in far more
familiar terms than we might assume. The books are full of passion, anger,
betrayal and emotion, and I cannot wait for her third instalment due out in
March.
My all-time favourite author for the moment has to be Laurell K Hamilton and her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. I love the raw passion between her characters mixed with violence and adventure. Hamilton really pushes the boundaries of imagination, and I find her truly inspirational as a writer. I also enjoy Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris for much the same reason.
Who was your favorite character to write in “Love Hurts”?
Hmm, that’s a tough one. I think it was Danny Mason. He was never meant to be such a central character since I always preferred vampires over werewolves, but somehow I sort of fell in love with him! He is playful and mischievous while proving to be a tough fighter and a ferocious pack leader.
What is your favorite movie and TV show?
I have several favourite movies. I absolutely love Ghostbusters 1 and Ghostbusters 2! I have grown up with them, they were there in my childhood when I first realised my fascination with ghosts and the paranormal. My favourite TV show at the moment is Being Human. This is currently airing its 4th series in the UK, and tells the story of a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf living together in a small Welsh town. Although there has been a major character upheaval resulting in some new faces, I am still enjoying the drama. I have not yet seen the US version of Being Human, although I must admit it has a lot to live up to for the fans here in Blighty!
What other paranormal
creatures do you like?
I am
developing an interest in fairies, mainly because I read and enjoyed Charlaine
Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse series and enjoyed her portrayal. I also like
angels, demons, witches and shape shifters. I suppose you could say I like all
paranormal creatures really!
Do you have a process
in you writing routine?
Sort of. If I get ideas for short stories, new characters, or sub-plots I will jot them down in my notebook and type them up later. For Love Hurts I wrote the story in three sections: Beginning, Middle and End. Now I have given up on that and am simply writing from start to finish, letting the words flow naturally and editing later.
What genre of books do you like/prefer? Would you try writing in them?
My favourite
genre is paranormal romance, hence my Redcliffe series. I also enjoy Historical
fiction, and I do have an idea for a historical vampire story but it will need
some research before I can write it properly. I like other paranormal novels as
well, some horror stories, and women’s sagas. Perhaps I will try my hand at
them all, it depends on when the story hits me.
Would you tell us a little of what you’re working on next?
Yes. I am
currently writing the third book in my Redcliffe series. This one is
tentatively called Love Redeems and will finalise the trilogy for
Jessica Stone after her violent introduction to the supernatural world in her
town. I won’t give too much away, because you must wait for my sequel Love
Kills which is due out later this year. Suffice to say Jessica learns more
about herself and struggles with her own true heritage, there is a fight with a
powerful female master vampire, and more ructions in the werewolf pack. The
Redcliffe series will continue, but Jessica will be altered forever…If you were faced with making a paranormal romantic choice, are you Team Vampire, Team Werewolf or Team something else entirely?
Actually as I mentioned before, I am conflicted now! I have always been staunchly Team Vampire. In fact when I was younger I yearned to be a vampire in the romantic sense. Then I changed my mind and decided it is safer to write about them. I suppose deep down I have to say Team Vampire, although the right sexy werewolf might just tempt me to the other side…
