Magic
– Do you believe?
It
seems in every culture throughout history there has been mention of magic. Some would say it doesn’t exist, some would
argue it does. How can something so
widely spoken about not be real? And if
it is real, how do you prove it?
The
wonderful thing about writing fiction is that I can include all kinds of
paranormal elements in my worlds. The
world in my Dark Sword series is most definitely filled with magic. Both my heroines and heroes hold magic,
though in different ways.
My
heroes are warriors with primeval gods inside them giving them immortality as
well as enhanced senses and the ability to control something be it water,
people’s minds, or the very air you breathe.
The gods also transform my Warriors.
Each god favors a color, so when unleashed, the heroes turn the color of
their god. They also have fangs and
claws, and some even have horns and wings.
It has been fun matching heroes to their powers.
My
heroines are Druids, blessed with certain magical abilities that will aid the
heroes in defeating the evil spreading over their world. There are two sects of Druids in the series –
the mie, or pure Druids, who practice healing and using their magic for
good. Then there are the droughs
who go through a ritual that binds their souls with evil to create black magic.
In
DARKEST HIGHLANDER (Jan 31, 2012) the heroine, Sonya, is a Druid. Sonya
is able to use her magic to heal, but she also holds very rare magic in being
able to communicate with the trees. One
of her greatest fears, however, is that her magic will fail her when she needs
it most. She will have to look deep
inside herself, to the magic that is leaving her in order to save the one man
who holds her heart in his hands from the evil they’ve been fighting.
In
the acclaimed Dark Sword series, the darkest, fiercest warriors of Scottish
legend finally meet their match—in the brave, fiery hearts of the women they
cherish…
HE IS HER SALVATION
For
years, Broc has watched over her, protected her—and hidden his love for her.
But when his beautiful Sonya finds herself in a hopeless situation, the
Highlander flies to her side to save her. Unfortunately, before the Druidess
can thank him, Broc is captured by his enemy and destined for eternal pain…
SHE IS HIS DESTINY
Sonya
vows to help her noble warrior, though he is imprisoned in a mountain of pure
evil—bound in chains of the darkest magic. With Sonya’s own magic fading, she
must summon the greatest power of all to save the man she loves. But even if
these two hearts are united, will they be strong enough to defeat the heart of
darkness? Or will their undying love doom them for all eternity…?
My question is: If you could have
any kind of power, what kind would you have?
I’ll
be giving away a signed copy of SHADOW HIGHLANDER to a commenter so talk
to me. J

Wow I'm the first, imagine that!
ReplyDeleteI would have the gift of healing. I have a compassionate heart and I know so many people who need healing help first and foremost my mother. She's recovering from a fall & stroke. It's so hard to see her slowly slipping from us...my dad's dementia and post-polio, my son's concussions. We have such fragile bodies.
Thanks for the giveaway! I have all your Dark Sword series. It would be fun to win one!
Glittergirl - Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, such beautiful covers. I would be drawn immediately to these in the bookstore. I'm such a cover junkie.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a magic power, I would love the power to talk to animals (although healing may be my second). It would be fascinating to understand what they are thinking and feeling. I know the one tha would most definitely not want is the power to read minds. I really don't want to know what everyone else is thinking - I have enough issues of my own! LOL!
Thanks for the contest and best of luck with the series.
i would love to have the power of telekinesis!! i think it would be awesome to move things with my mind..
ReplyDeletethanks for the chance to win

I don't know this series so I had to go look it up on goodreads. Magic and highlanders sounds like a good combination to me :) Don't enter me in the giveaway, I really think I should start with Dangerous Highlander.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with previous posters. I'd love the power of healing (and I'd also love to be able to talk to animals). AND your cover is awesome. I'd probably pick it up at the bookstore for the cover alone. I love Highlander stories... they are my fav genre of books. Thanks for the contest!

Hmmm, what would my power be...I think I would love the power to be able to transport myself to different locations in a blink of an eye. I hate to fly, and I don't enjoy long rides in a car. LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful covers, Donna! You books sound awesome. Wishing you many sales!
I would love the power to know what people were thinking! Great cover on this book, I'd love to be entered to win it.

ReplyDeleteI'd hvae to say that I'd love the power to heal. So many things in this world take too many people too soon, it would be nice to be able to make a difference.
