A phenomenal ending to one of the best series I’ve ever read! Wilson has managed to write 5 amazing books which are really just part of one outstanding story. She wrapped everything up in this story as it related to Rain and Ellysetta, but left room to (hopefully) tell additional stories about one of the many other numerous characters. I feel like I’m living in her world when I read her stories.
This part of the series was filled with action and suspense. Unfortunately, since most of the book is devoted to the final battle, there wasn’t as much time for romance. However, all of the actions of the characters were based on undying love for others, and you could feel that emotion. There were also many moments between Rain and Ellysetta that were very touching. We also learned quite a bit about the Elves and the Dahl’reisen.
I truly enjoy this author’s writing style and love that she shares just the right amount of detail. It’s enough to make sure you understand what is going on, but never so much that you begin to get bored or want to skip a paragraph. I’m not sure how a book that is almost 400 pages couldn’t be long enough, but I wasn’t ready for it to end even though the epilogue left you feeling fulfilled. If you have already read the first 4 stories, you won’t be disappointed. This is everything that you have come to expect from this author. If you haven’t started this series yet, I really hope you’ll give it a try. I look forward to reading the entire series again!
Great Review Laurie!! I always love your reviews!

Great review Kris. I have debated starting this series and now I think I will have to pass. I need more romance interaction LOL...
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Lord Of The Fading Lands because: 1. I heard that the end of the series is coming out; and 2. I heard so many good reviews about it. I am now at chapter 7 (three quarters into the book)… and I read from your review that Rain claimed Ellie in the LAST book?! That means that the Lord Of The Fading Lands ended in a cliffhanger! I think I’ll put this book down in favour of another. If I haven't got a really good book to read next, maybe I would stick with this series. Now I think 5 books for just one story is a bit too long winding for me.
ReplyDeleteKristin- I do follow your blog. An that's not my reivew;) Its Kris's.
ReplyDeleteI love romance just as much as the next person, but you guys are missing out if you don't read this series. There is a fair amount of romance, you should really pick it up. It's honestly one of the best fantasy-romances I've ever read. You really are missing out if you don't read them, I'm waiting with baited breath for the last novel to come out! So jealous you got to read it, and your review has really whet my appetite! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think this series will appeal to any fan of fantasy, not just romance readers. This is a little more on the "romance" side of what I normally read but I absolutely adored this series and can't wait to read Crown of Crystal Flame even though I'll be sad to come to the end of such a wonderful story. Great review!
